The Simpsons

The Simpsons

The Simpsons is an animated sitcom about the modern family. It is FOX's most successful TV show to date. It started as a one-minute filler on the Tracey Ullman Show but soon evolved in to America's favorite comedy.

The Simpsons focuses on a family of five. There is the father, Homer, a dull-witted, alcoholic, lazy, but lovable man. He often gets his family into crazy situations but always manages to fix things. The mother, Marge, is a stay at home mom who keeps the family together. She is the ideal wife and mother though she can be a little naive at times. She always does what she thinks is best for her family. Next is Bart, the 10 year old boy who lives on playing pranks. He gets into a lot of trouble but is generally a good kid. Next is the neglected middle child, Lisa. Lisa is the brain of the family and sometimes feels left out because of that. She is an outcast at school because of her talent. Finally there is Maggie the baby. Though she doesn't say much she is well known especially for her red pacifier.

The Simpsons has had a great run with very few blips, but I think it's about time for either the kids to age - or for the show to end while it's still on top. Read more

14x6: The Great Louse Detective recap: Homer comes in with the mail. He uses the George Foreman mail sorter to find out what's good and what's bad. The bad pile is then grilled into a patty, which Homer eats on a bun. In the good pile is an invitation for the family to spend a free weekend at Stagnant Springs Spa... read more.

8x13: Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(D'oh)cious recap: The family is sitting down at the couch watching TV and having a TV dinner, and Bart asks for a glass of milk, which Marge gets. After the rest of the family gives her orders, Marge notices a hair in Lisa's soup, and realizes it's her hair. After many regular household activities, she gets many empty spaces in her hair, which becomes very thin. After checking with Dr. Hibbert, he finds out that the hair loss is caused by stress, and she needs to relax. Marge tells the rest of the family about this, and they decide to hire a nanny. While taking interviews, they just can't decide on the people, since Homer has chased many applicants away and some of them just weren't appropriate. Bart and Lisa decide to make some suggestions for what kind of babysitter they want, and put it in the form of a song. After they've finished, a woman named Shary Bobbins shows up by umbrella. She does well on the interview, and gets the job. She teaches Bart and Lisa to clean up their rooms, takes them for walks, helps the people in the park, and eventually changes the family. After seeing she's done a lot of work for the family, her services are no longer required, and Shary Bobbins turns out to leave. While thinking about the family, Homer and Bart pop out the window, with Homer strangling him. Shary walks back in and finds everything in the house in chaos again. She comes back to the house once more, but can't seem to help them in any way, except be their "slave". While scolding Lisa, she suddenly feels ungrateful. The family come over to comfort her, and explain to her that she can't change the family. Shary realizes that they're all a bunch of apes, and goes flying away, getting hit by an airplane on the path... read more.

8x9: El Viaje de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer) recap: While Homer reads a newspaper, he discovers an article missing, and tries to find out what it was about. While he was trying to have a conversation with Lenny, Marge vacuums over the phone line, disconnecting after learning the topic of the conversation. Later, Homer finds Marge smoking, and then he goes outside to smell the air, which smelled of chili. He finds out about the Chili Festival, which Marge objects to, since Homer got very drunk last year at the festival. She allows him to go, but only if he promises to not drink while he's there. Once they arrive, Homer goes to the chili booths to try out the various types of chili. After getting very disappointed by chili made by Moe, Ned, etc. he comes upon the chili of Chief Wiggum, whose chili with one touch by the tip of Homer's tongue, got it burning and sends Homer screaming. While trying to put the burning sensation out with beer, he gets caught by Marge, who gets infuriated. After that ordeal, he starts eating wax from a candle, and heads back to chief Wiggum to eat his chili again, which he does with no problem at all. After that, Homer starts feeling a little pain around the stomach, and later followed by hallucinations. He runs off into a strange fantasy world, where he finds a tortoise showing him a way to sanity. After following the tortoise, he meets a space coyote, who tells him to find his soul mate in order to become complete. Afterwards, he wakes up to find he is in Kent Brockman's golf course, and heads home. He finds Marge, but she is very angry with him and tells him she is not his soul mate. He decides to travel around the town to search, and eventually stumbles upon the lighthouse, which is run by someone named Earl. While running up the steps to be "reunited" with his long lost soul mate, he discovers that Earl is actually a robot. Upset, he looks out the window and finds a ship, and takes out the light to make the ship crash into the lighthouse. Marge then discovers him, and explains how she found him, which proves that she knows all about Homer. She also explains that their differences are only skin-deep, but their common grounds go right down to the bone. While being reunited, they remember that the ship is heading towards them, and they use a new light to steer the ship away. The ship then crashes into land, where many people rush over and take the "precious cargo"... read more.

6x22: Round Springfield recap: Bart is at the breakfast table eating a bowl of cereal. Little does he know, the cereal that he is eating contains a jagged metal Krusty-O, which he swallows. The next part is him getting a stomachache, and eventually sending him to the hospital. He gets his appendix removed, and Lisa roams around the hospital and finds Bleeding Gums Murphy, an old jazz musician from the first season. Lisa has a recital coming up, and Bleeding Gums gives her his saxophone to play in it. After knocking them all dead at the recital, she goes back to the hospital to thank him, only to find out he passed away. Meanwhile, Bart files a lawsuit for $100,000 on the jagged metal Krusty-O, and receives 500 dollars from his lawyer, Lionel Hutz. Lisa wants to honor the memory of Bleeding Gums, and decides to pay a tribute to him on the radio, playing one of his songs. She needs to get an album, but doesn't have the money for it. Bart decides to buy it for her, and she plays it on the radio. After everyone in Springfield listens to his music, Bleeding Gums Murphy appears to her in the form of a cloud, thanking her for making his name known to the entire city, and to show his satisfaction, he plays jazz with Lisa one more time... read more.

6x19: Lisa's Wedding recap: The Simpsons take trip to a Renaissance Fair, and Lisa strays away from the crowd after chasing a rabbit, only to find another tent. Inside is a fortune-teller, who tells Lisa the story of her first love. In the year 2010, she is in Harvard University. While trying to take a drink from the water fountain, she bumps her head against another man known as Hugh Parkfield. In subsequent events, Hugh takes the last soy pop in the vending machine, uses the elevator whereas Lisa takes the stairs, and takes the last copy of a book Lisa needs. Lisa confronts him with the book matter, and they have a little challenge on who can read faster. After realizing they were both highly intellectual and have many things in common, they fall in love.
Lisa then takes a trip to England to meet Hugh's parents, and gets along quite well with them. Eventually, Hugh proposes to Lisa, to which she says yes. Lisa tells that to Marge, who then tells Homer. Lisa then takes Hugh to America to meet her parents, but is a little embarrassed about Homer. After a series of catastrophes resulting from their encounter, Hugh decides he can't stand to be around Homer, especially when he personally rejects Homer's cuff links. Lisa takes offense to that, and that is where Hugh tells her that they won't be seeing him again after getting married and moving to England. Lisa feels even more offended when he directly attacks her family, and she breaks off the wedding. She realizes that her family is worth more than one man's opinions. The story ends here, with Lisa walking away with her dad, and enjoying the time she has with him... read more.
