Pine Barrens is a section of New Jersey. In the episode, Christopher and Paulie go to Pine Barrens to get rid of Valery's body.

The movie Christopher is referring to is Thirteen Days.
The scene in which Paulie and Christopher take the Russian into the forest to be killed is a reference to the 1990 film Miller's Crossing which follows the lives to two rival gangs.
Paulie: As soon as we get out of here the first place I'm hittin' is Denny's.
Denny's is a breakfast restaurant. Tony Sirico, who plays Paulie, starred in several commercials for Denny's.
