Phil Leotardo shooting Angelo Garepe in the car trunk is a reference to Goodfellas in which Frank Vincent's character is killed in a similar fashion.

After Tony Blundetto shoots Phil Leotardo during the dream, the manner in which he leaves the car is identical to that of Sonny Corleone during a scene from The Sopranos.
