Before watching the show, I wasn't expecting to see deep plot. I never thought that this would have actually an interesting storyline; I was aware that this was just a comedy to have some fun and laughs. However, when I saw it I was really disappointed...
I tried to watch a whole episode and I managed to do it, but I didn't find it even close to entertaining. I thought that it was just one of those bad episodes, but I was really, really wrong. Since nothing else it's on at that time here, I watched this show every day for a whole week, expecting to see a good episode, but nothing happened. Every time the same. I eventually became bored and decided that I was going to spend that time in something more entertaining, such as playing gamecube or navigating the Internet.
Visually, this show is just terrible. The extremely shiny colors make it annoying to watch and the hotel is terribly recreated. I love traveling and we usually go to hotels since they are more comfortable, so I KNOW how an hotel is. Each room is filled with a bunch of exaggerated details, so it's hard believe that they are in an hotel, but is easy to know that they are in a filming set, as happens with the soap operas. The characters are loaded with makeup, making them look like theater actors (not TV actors) and the clothes just cause the same effect. Sure, there's nothing wrong to look like a theater actor in a soap opera or sarcastic theatrical comedy, but if you want to look like if you were in a hotel...
In terms of audio, this show is good. Nothing awesome, though. Since I see the Spanish-dubbed version with that annoying voices, I don't know the real voices so I can't say if they are annoying or not. However, I guess they are not too different.
The plot of this show is very simple; too simple for me. It doesn't have any interesting twists and the situation is quite unrealistic. I don't think that 2 twins in a hotel would do what Zack and Cody do, not even the 2 young boys with the worst behavior of the city. The jokes are very, very lame and the situations are extremely unrealistic, something that is FAR from happening on the real life. Sure, a show doesn't have to be 100% realistic and, in fact, some shows aren't even 2% realistic, but The Suite Life of Zack & Cody is a comedy whose situations take place on a supposedly realistic (they try to make it look realistic but they don't manage to do it) place, so they should be at least a bit close to the real life.
The characters are awfully handled in the series and they are ALL annoying, particularly Maddie, played by Ashley Tisdale. Zack and Cody are just 2 annoying boys which in place of being naive, they are annoying and they are just doing stupidities. If they were handled on a better way, with more ingenuity and less stupidness, the show would have been much better. Maddie, on the other side, is the one of the most annoying teens that I've seen on TV, and she's not annoying in a funny, intentional way as Lois (the mother) in Malcolm in the Middle. She's unintentionally annoying.
If I had to say something about acting... wow, I better don't say what I think about that if I don't want this review deleted. It's TERRIBLE, really really TERRIBLE. All the actresses, particularly Ashley Tisdale are Disney's spoiled brats. They don't have any experience and they play their characters on a very unrealistic way. Their success is based only on their appearance and any serious, mature viewer will get tired of these childish acting that can be compared to school shows in a few minutes. You don't have to be an expert to say that, just be objective and see how fake are their expressions. On the side of Zack and Cody (Dylan and Cole Sprouse), well, I can't say much about them since they are boys without experience. At least their crummy acting is forgettable because they didn't STUDY acting as Tisdale (supposedly) did. However, I'm sure that there are better young actors that Disney could find to make this show, such as Erik per Sullivan.
Overall, this is a very bad show. However, those who like other Disney terrible productions like Lizzie McGuire will enjoy The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, as well as fans of "Teen Tv".
