The Tick: Come on, Arthur, live a little! The night is young and we have umbrellas in our drinks! | (The Tick is asleep. Mr. Mental is using telepathy to contact him)
Mr. Mental: (whispering) Tick... Tick...
(The Tick continues sleeping)
Mr. Mental: (shouting) Tick!
(The Tick wakes up with a start but in a hypnotized state)
The Tick: Hello?
Mr. Mental: Do me favor? Go to the Pendecker Laboratory and bring me the box labeled "thinking cap".
(Mr. Mental ceases his telepathy and then suddenly resumes)
Mr. Mental: Oh and Tick, destroy anything that stands in your way. | (Mr. Mental is controlling The Tick by telepathy. Mynda is watching TV in the same room.)
Mr. Mental: Yes. Hang a left on Main. Good. Now you're going to want to go down Main for two lights. You'll see a filling station on your right. (irritated) Don't take that right! (normal tone) Keep going for another block.(the TV distracts him, so the telepathic links is severed)
Mr. Mental: (annoyed) Mynda! Would you turn that thing down? I'm controlling a mind here!
Mynda: Control yourself. I'm trying to watch this.
Mr. Mental: I am this close to ruling the world! You know what I miss? I miss the old days when I'd think up a sinister scheme for world domination and you'd show a little emotional support.
(He begins pouting)
Mynda: All right! All right. All right . I'll turn it off. okay?
(Mr. Mental's mind control over The Tick is resumed) | Arthur: All I know is he said something about going for a swim.
Die Fledermaus: (thinking hard) ... Water! People swim in water!
Sewer Urchin: Ah, neat. I don some of my very best work in water. Yeah.
Crusading Chameleon: I'll bet he's going to the river!
Arthur: All right, let's go! To the waterfront! | (They are looking for The Tick)
Arthur: No sign of him from the air. Anything on land?
Die Fledermaus: No. Nothing! Maybe he went home and went to bed.
(Sewer Urchin surfaces from beneath the river)
Arthur: See anything down there?
Sewer Urchin: Didn't find The Tick but I found a beautiful pie!
(Arthur, Die Fledermaus and Crusading Chameleon all retch and hold their noses)
Die Fledermaus: Oh man!
Sewer Urchin: What? | (In The Tick's worst nightmare)
Female voicemail message: You have reached the offices of The Tick's worst nightmare. The Tick is out of his mind right now. If you'd like to leave a message, please wait for the tone. If you'd like to speak to an operator, press star and for further options, press pound (echoes)
The Tick: A day job... in an office? My worst nightmare! (panicking) No!!!
(Coworkers begin piling up huge amounts of papers for The Tick to handle)
The Tick: (totally panicked) No!!! | Mynda: (yawning) Mel, I gotta get some sleep. We got a matinee tomorrow.
Mr. Mental: (irritated) No, tomorrow we rule the world!
Mynda: (sarcastically) Yeah, right. | Arthur: Tick, Mr. Mental took over your mind and now he's going to take over the world with that Thinking Cap!
The Tick: (dramatically) That rat!!! Let's get him, boys! | The Tick: You're a bad act, Mr. Mental!
Mr. Mental: Don't mess with me you fool. I'm cooking with gas! | Mr. Mental: What a headache I've got!
The Tick: I'd almost say you deserve it. | The Tick: The human mind is a dangerous plaything, boys. When it's used for evil, watch out! But when it's used for good, then things are much nicer. And let's try and keep that in mind. |
