The Tudors: Secrets of the Heart

Recently back from his campain in Boulogne, France, Henry is not in the best of conditions and is in the midst of having another war. With everyone betraying the King, he is forced to take measures to stop it. Meanwhile, Gardiner is still on the war path to find heretics and starts to get the Queen's personal staff accused. Lord Surrey is brought into questioning over his recent failure as Captain of Boulogne and he is in mean spirits at the accusations brought up against him. With many decisions weighing on the King's mind, he is troubled with the recent betrayals and organizes what he feels is the best for England.

Recap

The scene opens at Whitehall Palace in London 1545. A servant walks up to a newly aged Kind Henry and hands him a magnifying glass. Lord Hartford (John Seymour) enters in and tells that Lord Surrey lost 600 men at another Battle of Boulogne including Captains of the army too. King Henry tells his lords that Lord Surrey is to be brought back to England to be examined. Grimsley is given the rank of Baron and Charles Brandon tells that the Emperor is commanding that people rally against England and to take their ships. The French Ambassador stops Lord Hartford in the hall and tells that the King's disease and plague is due to the fact that he took Boulogne from the French and to try to convince the King to give up. Gardiner and Grimsley talk and they plan to push the King more of the "heresies" of the people. Charles admits that Bridgette is his mistress to his son Henry and Henry is ok by it and Henry tells Catherine that he is tired of the betrayal of everyone in his service. She tells the King that she wrote a book. "The Lamentations of a Sinner". Bishop Gardiner enters and tells that they want to arrest an Anne Aschew for being a heretic. The king agrees...
