Dancer Liz Powell is resting in a hospital room and having a nightmare. She wakes up, gasping for breath, to the sound of a ticking clock. Liz reaches for a glass of water only to spill it. Hearing footsteps outside, Liz gets out of bed, sweating, and walks out to the hallway. There's an elevator at the far end with a nurse standing in it. The door close and Liz walks down to it, watching the counter descend to the basement. Liz calls the elevator car and then gets in and goes to the basement. She finds herself in a hallway strewn with medical supplies and walks down it, shivering. She comes to a Room 22, the morgue, and a nurse emerges to tell her "Room for one more, honey." Liz runs screaming back to the elevator.
The next day, Liz's agent Barney pays her a visit, dropping off a painting of her. Liz says she's depressed and wonders if Barney has given her up as a kook when he didn't visit her. She insists that her nightly visits to the morgue aren't dreams, but something that really happened. Liz's doctor comes in and agrees that there's nothing wrong with her, saying she's in excellent physical health but overworked. Barney agrees but Liz isn't impressed. The doctor has Liz describe her dream, which follows the same chronology every night. Liz suggests they bring in the morgue nurse and the doctor agrees. However, Liz doesn't recognize the nurse. She still insists her dream is real and the doctor suggests that she try to break the dream by not reaching for the glass. She agrees to try it and tells Barney to get out.
That night Liz goes through the same dream and avoids reaching for the glass. However, she reaches for a pack of nearby cigarettes and knocks over the glass anyway. She hears footsteps outside and follows the nurse down into the basement to Room 22. Again the nurse tells her the same thing and Liz runs screaming back to the elevator. The doctor and night nurse try to comfort her, and later realizes that Liz has never been to the morgue.
Later, Liz checks out and the doctor tries to reassure her that all she had were dreams brought on by stress. Liz is still distracted but bids him goodbye and goes to catch her flight to Miami Beach. As she prepares to board, she realizes that she'll be on Flight 22. She starts to feel thirsty and hears the ticking noise of a clock. Nervous she backs up into another passenger who drops a vase on the ground. She goes to the gate and the attendant takes her ticket. She goes to the boarding stairs... and a stewardess at the top smiles at her and says "Room for one more, honey." Liz screams and runs back to the terminal as the airplane takes off. The attendants try to comfort her but Liz looks on as the airplane lifts off... and explodes.
