David Gurney wakes up in bed with his wife Wilma. He was out partying the night before and has overslept and is late to work. He prepares to get to work and can't find his razor, and wakes up Wilma to ask him where it is. She screams and says that she has no idea who he is and tells him to get out. Dave has no idea what she's talking about and tells her to call the police, thinking she's joking. He can't find any of his clothing and stops her from leaving while he can try to get an answer. He tells her to get things straightened out and goes to his job at the bank...

Opening Narration
Narrator: Cameo of a man who has just lost his most valuable possession. He doesn't know about the loss yet. In fact, he doesn't even know about the possession. Because, like most people, David Gurney has never really thought through the matter of his identity. But, he's going to be thinking about it a great deal from now on, because that is what he's lost. And his search for it is going to take him into the darkest corners of the Twilight Zone.
