Recap
Colonel Adam Cook's spacecraft has been severely damaged and has crash landed on a unexplored planet. Injured, he pleads with his superiors to send him a rescue craft but is told that such a thing would be impossible. It seems war is about to break out back on his world. A message received from home confirms that his homeland has now been destroyed. Cook must now look around his new planet and see if he can find food and water. He discovers a footprint, and then a woman. Her name is Norda, another space traveler who is stuck on this world. Speaking different languages, Cook tries to teach her his. He teaches her that his name is Adam and finds out her first name is Eve. He asks what she calls this handful of dirt he was holding, she says Earth. He can make an inventory of his plight by just one 360 degree movement of head and eyes. Colonel Cook as been set adrift in an ocean of space in a metal lifeboat that has been scorched and destroyed and will never fly again. He survived the crash but his ordeal is yet to begin.
