Annie moves into her new house and wonders how she can afford it. She admits it’s the perfect house and hangs up a family photo of her husband, son, daughter, and dog. However, her children Sean and Tess come in and start complaining and fighting. Her dog barks and her husband Philip refuses to help her with the children. The dog pees on the mantle place and Philip blows it off. Annie complains, wishing that just once they had a perfect life. He calls over their dog, Czonka… and Annie doesn’t recognize the dog, which is now a French Poodle. Philip doesn’t know that anything is wrong. When Annie goes to the photo, she sees that the new dog is now in the photo.
Annie goes through the family album but all the photos show the “new” dog. Philip has no idea what she’s talking about and points out that all of the papers show that they own the new Czonka. Later, Annie talks to her friend and real estate agent, Yasmine, who says that it’s just stress and she has nothing to worry about.
In bed, Philip brings champagne and she slowly cheers up. He admits he was reluctant to move but is glad they do. As they kiss, Annie notices the new Czonka looking at them and can’t bring herself to do anything. They turn off the lights and go to bed as Czonka barks outside.
The next morning, Annie starts unpacking in the kitchen only to discover that her son Sean is a different person. Her daughter Tess has no idea what she’s talking about and as Annie goes after the “new” Sean, she sees that the photo has changed and both of her children are different. She turns and sees that Tess is now a different person as well, the one from the photo. Annie runs upstairs to find Philip, but slips on the stairs and falls.
Philip calls in the paramedics who make sure she’s okay. Philip is still Philip but Sean and Tess are still different. Philip sends them to school and tries to reassure Annie, who doesn’t understand what’s happening. She wonders what happens if he vanishes next and embraces him. He kisses her… and transforms into a different man.
Annie locks herself in her room and Yasmine comes to see her. Yasmine isn’t aware that anything is different. Annie thinks she changed them when she wished for the perfect family to go with the perfect house. Yasmine doesn’t take her seriously and asks her to come downstairs. Annie reluctantly does so and finds the house filled with expensive new furniture she doesn’t recognize. Yasmine suggests that no matter what, Annie has what she wanted.
At dinner, Annie tries to accept her new family while drinking heavily. All of them have much better lives and histories that she doesn’t remember. She goes to the kitchen and tries to come to grips with having what she wished for. She finds a mother’s day card from her children and sees Czonka watching her. She goes back to the dining room only to find her family gone. She overhears them talking about her on the stairway, worried that she’s getting worse. Philip promises that she’ll only be put away for a little while. When she makes a noise, they hear her and she tries to call Yasmine. She leaves a message and then runs out the back door… and finds herself coming through the front door. She runs back out and finds herself in the kitchen. Running out again, she finds herself back in the living room. Things start to blur and she screams for help. She looks at the photo and sees a new Annie. Philip comes in… and Annie is the new woman in the photo, with no memory of what happened and glad to have a perfect life.
