Heavyweights #4 - Recap

People are still talking about Kimbo’s fight. We get more post reactions. We shift to the house and see Marcus Jones having trouble. Apparently he’s feeling lightheaded. Brendan Schaub remarks how he fights to pay the bills and for someone like Jones fighting is a hobby. After Kimbo Slice is defeated and dominated by Roy Nelson, he still has the nerve to talk about wanting in on the show. He says if Jones can’t go, he should be let in. Team Rampage discusses strategy. They actually agree on who should fight next, but when one of the fighters tells others who will fight, plans are changed.

We get to the fight announcement: Brendan Schaub will fight Demico Rogers. Rampage Jackson tries to not show any doubts, but he realizes that his team must win their fight as their team has not looked great. Rashad talks about Brendan being a technical fighter who listens and learns. Brendan says he’s flat out a better fighter in every category toDomiko.

When we get to Demico’s side, the guys tell him that Brendan has no ground game and that should be his advantage. Fight day arrives. We see Tale of the Tape and see that these guys are even.

Round One sees Demico try to take for the take down off the bat, but Brendan catches him a lockdown and goes for the choke submission. Demico moves himself around to avoid submission. The two grapple toward the cage. The two scrap then fall on the mat. Demico has Brendan at guard. The two strike each other. Brendan pushes away Demico with his knees giving himself space. However, Brendan catches himself again with Demico at guard. Demico gets the advantage here on Brendan landing several hard strikes. Brendan showing this as a dangerous position on him, quickly fights back and now has Demico at guard. Brendan now has the advantage and turns up the heat. He lands several several hard strikes. Demico tries to hold his own. He commits a cardinal error when he turns on his stomach giving Schaub the opportunity to apply a possible. Choke. Schaub then proceeds to do just that applying a rear naked choke with two minutes left in the first round. Despite a really tough first round, Demico submists.

After the fight, Rampage Jackson shows complete disrespect and lack of support by not committing to the cage and congratulating both fighters. Rashad notices this and talks about it. He points out how Rampage is just sitting there. Evans gives encouragement to the fallen Rogers.

Eventually Rampage does console Rogers.
