Heavyweights #10 - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Team Rashad continues to wander about Matt Mitrione’s concussion and brain swelling. Half of the team doesn’t believe he is hurt. Meanwhile, Kimbo Slice continues to plead his case to fight despite the lackluster showing against Roy Nelson. Kimbo has a checkup with the doctor who explains that Kimbo’s foot is in bad shape and missing a lot of cartilage. For a rare time in the series, Dana White announces a special coach’s challenge between Rashad and Rampage where the winner gets ten thousand dollars.

Despite a competitive game, as with the overall season, Rashad ends up winning. Just as before an argument develops with Rashad and Rampage. Jon Madsen will fight Brendan Schaub this week in the next quarterfinals.

They are both on Team Rashad. Brendan says he’s a bit annoyed with Rashad paying too much attention to Madsen. Rashad talks to Mitrione about whether he really wants to fight. Mitrione still isn’t medically cleared, but Rashad isn’t getting a straight answer from Matt.

Dana White comes in to give a lecture about fighting and what real fighters are made off. He says he doesn’t see the fighting spirit in Mitrione but won’t hold it against him if he doesn’t fight.

Fight day arrives. We see The Tale of The Tape. Both fighters are even and same in almost every category. In Round One, for two minutes both fighters rarely touch each other. Then Madsen is able to deliver a slam on Schaub. However, Madsen isn’t able to follow it up with anything. Eventually, Brendan gets up from the mat, and the two start grappling again. Schaub catches Madsen in a choke, but Madsen is able to flip him over with a slam. However, again despite being on top and having the advantage isn’t able to finish off Schaub. Horn sounds with Madsen still on top of Schaub.

Round Two is more of the same. Fighters are a bit cautious. However, this time when Madsen tries to slam Schaub, Brendan blocks it. He blocks it several times. After Jon stops using the takedowns, the two fighters strike. Brendan is able to land a quick right strike knocking down Madsen. The referee stops the fight before Schaub can continue with the fight. The winner is Schaub.
