In the first episode of the series the guys arrive in the house in awe of their surroundings.
They have a state of the art facility to work with. Josh Koschek calls one of the best facilities he’s seen. Nathan Quarry states how he quit the job he was working to compete in the show. Willa Ford acts as a host before Dana arrives. She tells the fighters that they were the best UFC hopefuls selected in the country. She explains the show how they are to train and fight hard for their UFC contracts. She hands things to Dana. Dana tells them they will be working with Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell to help them win. Randy starts talking about the interest in UFC how it’s intriguing to see different styles clash. We see footage with both Randy and Chuck. Chuck speaks and says he enjoys the competition. The guys have a few beers to celebrate being in the house. Forrest Griffin remarks on Chris Leben getting wasted. Diego Sanchez, a Middleweight, is one of the few not drinking. Diego says he won’t brag with his mouth he’s gonna do it. Chris remarks how is the best fighter in the house. Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonner don’t seem to mind Chris running his mouth but Josh Koscheck says he’d really like to fight him. Bobby Southworth talks about himself being adopted and having a run time as a Latino. He says every since he’s saw a UFC fight that’s what he wanted to do.
Chris drunk starts playing with people over their pillows. However, most take it as a joke. Jason Thacker goes to take a shower so Chris takes upon himself to urinate on his pillow. The guys are in for a rude awakening as Chuck and Randy come in at 5:00 am like drill sergeants to wake them up.
We see a training session with the Light Heavyweights. Randy introduces the other coaches. The guys announce they’ll be training at every station for three hours. Dana White if they can’t do the workout they can’t be in the UFC. Marc Laimon, Gaino, and another coach all evaluate the fighters skills in Muay Thai, Boxing, and Grappling. After the session, Randy remarks that many of them are in shape while others need work to do. Jason Thacker says he wasn’t ready for that type of workout.
The training session starts for Middleweights. The coaches monitor treadmill activity as cardio is an important part of a fighter skills. Several fighters tire and puke out Others do not, Dana says that Randy thought not many fighters could get through the workout. Diego and Chris Leben breeze through the treadmill. Chuck reiterates that it’s not just about testing the run ability but about the heart of the fighter.
On Day Three all fighters do their training session. Willa Ford makes the announcement that teams will be made and that they will compete in their first fights. Nathan Quarry gets a cut under the chin from his sparring partner. He has to get stitches but stays in the game. Jason Thacker talks to Randy about dropping from the competition. Randy is encouraging though and tells Jason to stay with not to sell himself short. The guys compete in a sparring fashion. Forrest Griffin and Stephan clash heads causing a brief above Stephan’s eye. The coaches pick teams. Jason Thacker says he’ll stick with the show. We get previews for the next episode as episode ends..
