Sprawl 'n Brawl - Recap
Fighters discuss the Bobby/Stephan fight. Bobby is noticeably upset because he says he clearly won the fight. Even Dana White agrees but says the fight is with the judges. Dana picks a wrong time to talk to Bobby after the fight. He approaches Bobby but Bobby doesn’t want to hear his stuff. The two exchange in an argument with Dana acting like Bobby is the one with the problem. In the end, Dana makes an incorrect assessment about Bobby is. Meanwhile, Nathan Quarry gets his MRI results. It’s bad as the MRI suggests he needs surgery which means he is of the off.
We switch to Sam Hoger training with Team Couture. Team Liddell is eager to rag on Sam already since they don’t like him. Dana makes the official announcement that Nathan is off the show and then chooses a replacement. Nathan decides to bring back Chris Leben. Everyone with the exception of Josh Koscheck does not like it. Chris says he will be on better terms as he promised Nathan. Chris is happy that Stephan beat Bobby.
The team challenge is explained by Willa Ford. The Middleweights are up for elimination. Team Couture again wins the fight much to their delight. The guys discuss fighting matchups. Chris wants to fight Josh again. Rafferty is asked if he wants to fight Kenny but he declines. The team continues to pry not sure if Josh Rafferty wants to fight.
Randy makes the official fight the next fight and in a surprise he says Josh will fight Diego. Dana does not see this as a wise decision as Kenny would have posed an easier fight than Diego.
The guys train for their fight. Diego says he’s not here to make friends but to win.
On Day thirty-one fight day arrives. Everyone agrees that Josh is the underdog. Dana says flat out “Diego will destroy Josh Rafferty”. Stephan gives Josh ten to one odds. The fight begins with the striker and grappler. The fight turns into a squash. Josh gets taken down by Diego twenty-two seconds into the fight Deigo takes Josh into the mat at guard. He unleashes a barrage of blows. Josh never has any offense whatsoever. He actually covers up during the bulk of the fight. This was despite his claim that he was going to knock out Diego earlier. With 3:12 remaining, Diego catches Josh into a rear naked choke for the win. Randy says that Josh has to work on preventing takedowns even though this fight was dominated by strength.
