Light Heavyweight Semi-Finals - Recap
We get fighter reactions about Josh/Diego fight. Dana tells us about the finale. We move on to Light Heavyweight finals. Sam Hoger will fight but will he fight Bobby or Forrest? The answer gets told when Forrest sees the doctor. The doctor explains that Forrest cuts on the eyebrow take longer to head over a three month. However, she sees the stitch job done on Forrest rapidly increased his chance. She eventually decides that Forrest can continue. This to the dismay of Bobby who now has to leave, since Forrest has the go ahead to continue. Forrest talks about giving up his life and how all his belongings are in storage. Dana brings in Bobby for the bad news. He actually says he has good news and bad news when he actually just has bad news for Bobby. Bobby says he will stay as the corner coach for Forrest.
We move to the Forrest and Sam fight. First semi-final fight in Light Heavyweights. Dana says that Forrest doesn’t appear to be up for this fight as last one. Despite what Dana says about Sam flying under the radar for completion, Sam puts up a fight against Forrest. In Round 1, Sam delivers a series of rights and kicks that land on Forrest. Forrest delivers a few of his own.
Sam lands a high right kick to Forrest face. Forrest hands in though and lands a punch to Sam’s body. The two box and kick for the rest of the round. Sam lands a couple of more rights. Sam throws a high left kick but it doesn’t land. The coach tells Forrest to give a combo but Sam is able to deflect them as horn sounds.
In Round 2, the two box for the first minute. Sam lands a left high kick but doesn’t have enough to knock out Forrest.
On the next exchange, Sam commits the cardinal sin of dropping his head letting Forrest hit with various knee lifts. The third knee catches Sam and drops him to the mat. Forrest sees the opportunity and rains blows on Sam. The referee breaks the fight and so Forrest wins.
Sam hates the decision. Chuck Liddell comments on the fight and actually gives the first round to Sam. He feels that Forrest didn’t take it to Sam. He feels that Sam put up a fight.
On day fourty-four, we move to the weigh-ins with Stephan Bonnar and Mike Swick. Stephan says that on paper he should win the fight because of his size alone. Mike says he’ll fight Stephan “Randy Couture” style.
In Round 1, Mike throws a couple of hay makers which don’t land on Stephan. He does, however, catch him in a guillotine choke. Amazingly Stephan powers out. The next three minutes of the four minute see both guys grappling on the mat. They don’t land many blows as it turns out to be more of a grappling contest. With two seconds left, with Mike thinking he’s won the first, he taps out to Stephan.
Mike had Stephan on the mat. Stephan applied a triangle choke. Mike was so busy trying to get out of the hold that he left his arm open allowing Stephan the chance to apply an arm bar. Mike doesn’t have the strength Stephan have in breaking out of submissions and taps out. We see promos for the finale as episode ends.
