Fresh Meat - Recap

The fighers this season are composed of people from around the world, with representatives from Hawaii, Canada, Britain, and Ireland.

The candidates include Ed Herman, Matt Hamill (who is deaf), Kendall Grove, Mike Stine, Kalib Starnes , Rory Singer, Jesse Forbes, Tait Fletcher, Michael Bisping, Josh Haynes, Danny Abaddi, Solomon Hutcherson, and Noah Inhofer.

UFC President Dana White speaks separately to both Shamrock and Ortiz who hate each other. While Dana is setting the boundaries, he's also planting the seed that the two will go it and thus promote their ppv fight on July 8th.

Once all the fighters arrive, Dana White tells them that this season everyone will fight, no one will get a bye like last season.

He says that a coin toss will determine who has control in choosing a fight-Team Shamrock or Team Ortiz. Team
Shamrock wins the toss and they decide that the middleweight Mike Stine will fight against Kalib Starnes.

Ken's strategy as he says is to pick a great fighter from his team and fight against the weakest fighter on Ortiz team. Both Mike and Kalib gives promos about who will win but when the fight happens Kalib dominates Mike.

Mike Stine vs. Kalib Starnes

Round 1
The two grapple for nearly a minute with each trying to get position over the other. Kalib lands the first shot, having Mike down on the mat. Mike is able to turn the hold around momentary but Kalib sits back up on Mike and starts raining down hailmakers. Mike turns his body around but leaves exposed to Kalib so Kalib starts punching Mike on the back of the head. Mike was clearly hurt by one of the early punches to the back of the head and he could only cover his head as Kalib continues raining down punches.

Referee John McCarthy finally comes in to break things up and end the fight. Kalib Starnes is your winner by TKO (Strikes). Team Shamrock wins its first victory as Kalib wins.

This was a very lopsided fight and a very poor showing by Team Ortiz who will probably use this as motivation for the next fight.
