Bloodbath - Recap

In the second episode of the fourth season, a recap of the last fight is shown with Shonie Carter winning. After the fight, Team Mojo finds a journal by Shonie detailing who should fight. Team Mojo immediately hides this as they want to make it a surprise to Team No Love who is fighting.

Team No Love , however, decides to take a day from training while Team Mojo trains. Team Mojo decides to pick Edwin Dewees to fight Gideon Ray. Gideon Ray, the 32 year old Middlweight , is now shown training. We see footage of him in the UFC as his records stands at 0-2 in the UFC

Edwin , 23 year old Middleweight, is now shown training. Both he and Gideon share the fact that they both have the same losing records in the UFC at 0-2. His fight with Rich Franklin in a tough loss, and an embarrassing less than a minute loss to Chris Leben.
Despite the rather poor showings by both fighters in the UFC, Dana says both guys deserve a shot. Stat-wise both fighters are even but Edwin has an age advantage of nine years over Gideon.

Round 1

The fight begins and Edwin is able to take down Gideon first. As with the first fight, you can Matt Serra shout tips to Edwin (like he did with Shonie Carter) Edwin manages to land strikes on the side of Gideon’s face. He also manages to land a big right hand. Matt Serra screams at Edwin to land elbows but Edwin decides to take Gideon closer to the Octagon cage and swings rights and lefts connecting. Edwin is dominating until the last minute of the fight where Gideon reverses himself on top of Edwin. Gideon now lands his own strikes However, Edwin strikes back and uses his legs as a form of a scissor lock on Gideon. He then strikes back until the bell rings.

Matt Serra is confident that was Edwin’s round as Round 2 stars.

Round 2

Round 2 starts of evenly but at the four minute mark, Edwin once again takes down Gideon for the second time. Edwin is unable to capitalize though. At 2:58, Edwin is bleeding from the forehead. The UFC doctor tells him he can continue after examining him. The fighters continue.Edwin manages to land elbow shots at Gideon. However, the last minute of the round Edwin decides to stay away from Gideon because of the blood dropping form his head.

Despite this the round ends and the judges declare it to be a draw, although Edwin had a much better round

Round 3

In the last round both fighters are exhauster but Edwin once again manages to win away on strikes. Gideon tries to swing a wild leg kick but instead falls down, and Edwin gets on top of him. After this the minutes are done by Edwin landing strikes. The last minute of the fight Gideon in a flurry lands strikes on his own with a new found energy. However, the fight is over, and Edwin appears to be ahead on points. The judges award the decision to Edwin Dewees. After the fight, Gideon says the fight should have been stopped because Edwin was bleeding. Although the fight had been temporarily stopped multiple times, Dana and Doctor said that the fight shouldn't have been permanently stopped.
