Clips are shown of last week’s show. Dana White seeing Gabe not cut weight sends him home. As no fight took place, Dana says two fights will take place. He also decides to give Rob Emerson, previously eliminated, a second chance to be in the competition and fight. The first fight will be Joe Lauzon vs. Brian Geraghty. The second fight will put Rob Emerson against Corey Hill.
Team Penn starts with their training session. We get an interview with Lauzon talking about his 13-3 record. Lauzon also reveals that he fought in UFC 63 against Jens Pulver and won. Lauzon is confident about himself and says he will give Team Penn its first victory. Brian does his promo and says Lauzon will burn himself. Geraghty also claims that he will win and get revenge for Jens Pulver.
The fight itself turns out to be a wash as Lauzon makes quick work out of Geraghty Lauzon executes a big takedown on Geraghty. Lauzon then comes in close with blows to the body. Geraghty has no offense instead covering up the damage. Geraghty manages to get up but Lauzon climbs up on top of Brian and executes a rear choke. Brian immediately taps out as Lauzon wins.
Team Penn gets its first victory. In the post fight interview, Geraghty takes responsibility for the less. Brian admits that this is worst performance ever and he wouldn’t be surprised if Dana White never calls him back to compete in the UFC.
Dana White talks about Emerson and Hill fight. White gives the advantage to Hill for his size and reach. Hill in his interview admits that he has never competed in the UFC and that all of his fights have been at the amateur level. Despite this Hill is confident that he will against Emerson. The fight ends up being close and requires a third round to determine a winner.
In Round 1, Corey Hill dominates Rob Emerson. Emerson spends a bulk of the round unable to move in on Hill while Hill with his reach advantages manages to knock around Emerson. In Round 2, Emerson seems to be more on the offense than Hill. The two exchange in a slugfest but Emerson grabs the judges attention when he catches Hill in a submission as time runs out.
Dana declares a third round. In third round, the competitors do same things they’ve done in both rounds which is to mainly do dodge and hit attacks. Hill reassumes his reach advantage and is able to deliver more blows to Emerson. At a couple of points, Emerson tries to charge in with his attack but Hill is able to catch him every time.
When the third round ends, Hill is declared the winner. In the post fight interviews, Emerson keeps on telling himself that he should have won. However, one of his teammates from Team Penn tells him that Hill looked to be more aggressive in the third round. Dana White also disagrees with Emerson. White expresses his disappointment with Emerson and says he’s blown a second chance with the UFC.
