Moving on the official fight is called between Joe Lauzon of Team Penn and Cole Miller of Team Pulver. Miller says he will take the fight to Lauzon. BJ Penn starts talking about Lauzon and how great he’s been since the beginning. Lauzon calls himself the smartest fighter on team. Dana White compares the two fighters but in the end Cole admits that he is the underdog.
Despite this though Cole true to his word does take the fight to Lauzon. In Round 1 he lands a kick right to the stomach of Lauzon and takes down Lauzon hard. The two fighters grapple hard each trying to apply a submission on the other. Lauzon, however, starts turning the round in his favor picking up Cole and dropping him on his head. Lauzon then delivers a series of strikes with Cole on the ground. With 1:23 left in the fight, Lauzon gets on top of Cole’s back and tries to apply a choke. For the last minute of the round, Miller comes up with no offense as Lauzon appears to be leading on strikes.
Round 2 is a repetition of Round 1 with Lauzon dominating Cole with strikes. At one point, Lauzon is called for an illegal strike to the head of Miller. However, this doesn’t affect the results of the fight. At 3:00 the fight resumes but Cole looks defeated. Lauzon moves in with his strikes while Miller backs away even bumping into the referee. Eventually Lauzon gets Cole on the ground again and continues to strike him in the end. All Cole does is cover himself up. Finally, the ref stops the fights and Lauzon is declared the winner. Miller after the fight looks like he passed out. Dana White congratulates both fighters as Team Penn wins their third fight in a row.
