The series started on April 5, 2007 on Spike TV in the United States and Canada at 10:00 p.m.

This season the coaches would be Lightweight fighters Jens Pulver and BJ Penn. Penn and Pulver would have a feud on the show leading up to their UFC fight. During this season, fighters would actually change from one team to another and train on other teams. BJ Penn would actually dismiss one of his fighters for not following his instructions.

The season would be memorable for what happened not just in the ring but out of ring. Like other seasons fighters would have a hard time making weight and winning their fights.
Also as with other seasons fighters eliminated would come back often substituting for injured teammates. Fighters would clash not just with opposite teams but with their own teammates. Season would also see special guest fighters like Matt Hughes. This season would also feature many pranks a couple of which led to verbal confrontations on the show.

The fighters include: Matt Wiman, Gabe Ruediger, Joe Lauzon, Rob Emerson, Andy Wang, Allen Berube, Noah Thomas. Corey Hill, Nathan Diaz, Brandon Melendez, Marlon Sims, Manvel Gamburyan, Cole Miller, Brian Geraghty, Wayne Weems
