The first season of The Ultimate Fighter would such a success that it would prompt a second season. This season would follow in ways the same format as season one

This season's head coaches would be Welterweight and Heavyweight fighters Matt Hughes and Rich Franklin.. This season would feature numerous team challenges designed by Randy Couture.

As with other seasons, this one would be memorable not just for the fights but for fighters personality themselves. Fighters like Melvin Guillard would claim to be the best fighter in the house and raise the eye of other fighter. However, Melvin would be eliminated early once again setting the tone of the show to be unpredictable and entertaining. The season would feature upcoming UFC stars as Rashad Evans and UFC veteran Keith Jardine. As is the case, fighters would often be eliminated from the show due to injury and replace with other fighters.
