  Episode Notes
Arnold Justin's plea to Eliot Ness demanding protection from Frank Nitti is very similar to the one made by Emile Bouchard in Season Two's Murder Under Glass.

Martin Balsam would return later in Season Three in Man in the Middle.

This episode marks the first of two times that a character played by Don Gordon would dive into the water to escape from Eliot Ness. Gordon would repeat the act in Fall Guy.

Don Gordon would return in Fall Guy, Ginnie Littlesmith Story, and One Last Killing.

Location: Chicago

  Episode Quotes
Weisman: Make a will, Mr. Justin. It's later than you think.

Nitti: (to Justin) Don't go to sleep. You may never wake up.

Weisman: I'll give you even money that Maddern is dead and Justin is still goin'.
Justin: You're wrong, Weisman. The rabbit is back.

Raeder: (to the Untouchables) Since when is an employer responsible for the background of his employees?

Justin: (to Ness) What's the matter--my success gone to your head?

Ness: (to Justin) NItti took a big chance. I wouldn't trust you with the time of day.

Ness: You're a liar!
Justin: Well of course I am but you can't prove it. That's where we separate the men from the boys everytime.

  Analysis
The last of the three sledge hammer episodes which opened Season Three has Ness dealing with a foe he seems to despise worse than even Frank Nitti--a crooked cop. Martin Balsam is memorable as the disgraced former cop who matches wits with Ness over missing heroin and Bruce Gordon is even more nastier than usual as Frank Nitti.
