In 1934, Prohibition has come to an end and narcotics is now the big racket. Lucky Luciano sends his representative, Wally Corbin, to Chicago to pick up a shipment of heroin from Louie "the Bear" Madikoff, the top dealer in the Midwest and chief supplier of the New York syndicate. Luciano: (to Madikoff) Pavanos don't take. I take and you like it.
Luciano: (to Madikoff) You got a dirty house. You better clean it up.
Pavanos: Maybe you forgot I don't say your name without spitting.
Madikoff: Somebody wants to see me in jail.
Pavanos: I don't wanna see you in jail. I wanna see you dead.
Hobson: (about Madikoff) He'll plant two of his boys in other cars. They'll be right behind you.
Ness: I don't think so. You and Rico will.
