Det. Casey Shraeger meets the other zany but secretive detectives which make up the homicide squad in which she was just transferred to. Her partner will be Det. Jason Welsh, who is already working on a case of who killed his former partner.
Walsh and Shraeger investigate when a notorious family go on a crime spree, which the pair believe to have uncovered the motive and use it to negotiate. Meanwhile, information arises about Walsh's former partner being a dirty cop, as Shraeger is asked to look into it. Also, Cole's old partner in crime shows up.
A store which deals in murder weapons and body-disposal advice is the site where the detectives set up their sting operation. Elsewhere, Shraeger is asked to smooth over a resisting arrest charge, and Frank Lutz has bad timing when he asks a favor from Cole.
Beaumont heads to a pawn shop in need of cash, and walks into a robbery. The female suspect as seen again later with a different male accomplice robbing a bridal shop. Elsewhere, Banks and Delahoy search for a missing man who was believed to have died.
Beaumont is struck when Lutz pulls a gun at Walsh's diner. While investigating, Walsh and Schraeger uncover Lutz and Cole's past connection. Elsewhere, Banks and Delahoy get help from a clairvoyant passenger when they investigate a rash of bus robberies.
Officer Lewis Powell has fallen off the wagon and wakes up in a pool of blood in an alley with his off duty weapon missing. He explains to Walsh that he may of killed a man while in a drunken blackout and asks for his help. As Walsh and Shraeger try to figure out the missing pieces of Lewis' unexplainable night, Banks and Delahoy discover they are both victims of identity theft. When they investigate the murder of the man pretending to be Banks, Delahoy and Banks get a picture of the man who stole their identities and believe there are some aspects of their lives which they should change.
Shraeger and Walsh lose a wealthy businessman in which they were suppose to be protecting, and he is being ransomed off by his captors for $10 million for his safe return. Elsewhere, Banks and Delahoy are on the hunt for an elderly man who's on a crime spree.
While Sgt. Brown is out, Alvarez takes charge but things do not go well. Alvarez is convinced by Foster, a U.S. Marshall, to release Bo Keebler, a man who tried to rob a Chinese restaurant, into his custody. However, after a fake bomb threat is called in, Casey, Alvarez and Walsh learn there may be more to Foster than meets the eye.
Walsh and Shraeger look into the murder of drug store owner who was shot while running naked in the Lower East Side. When the victim's daughter's boyfriend tells the detectives about a confrontation the victim had with a loan shark, the case must take a new direction to solve the murder. Meanwhile, Beaumont and Cole investigate theft of tapes from an apology line service, and Delahoy convinces the medical examiner to give him an MRI.
Beaumont and Cole try to catch those responsible for making adults films in an apartment complex by going undercover. Meanwhile, Scraeger becomes emotionally involved in helping a serial accuser who fell victim of a violent attack 10 years earlier after disappearing from a big prep school party.
