Family Ties - Recap

Elena hears a noise downstairs and decides to go downstairs and check it out. She sees the news is on and there was another attack. It seems that the person who has been found dead is her, so she's of course caught off guard by that. Damon shows up and decides to eat her, but before things get too crazy Stefan wakes up and we learn that it was only a nightmare. Damon had given him this nasty dream it turns out.

Damon and Stefan get into a fight, again. They argue over the fact that Damon is so much stronger than Stefan due to the fact that he drinks human blood and Stefan doesn't. Elena is at home with her aunt and they are watching the news. The news caster seems to be bothering Jenna because she keeps insulting him. The reporter is Logan and he broke her heart a while ago. Elena starts going through some family heirlooms that she needs to provide for the wife of the mayor. This is so that they can be a part of the Founder's Ball.

Stefan goes to Elena's and they decide to go upstairs for some private time. He gets too passionate and his face turns into a hungry vampire. He decides that they shouldn't go too far for right then. Elena has invited Stefan to go to the Founder's Ball with her and Caroline asks Damon to. Damon is reading a Twilight book and Caroline asks him why he doesn't sparkle. Damon tells her because real vampires burn up in the sun. He also says that the book is very incorrect as he schools her on what vampires need to exist and how people become vampires in the first place.

Caroline worries that Damon is going to kill her and he tells her that he very much will be killing her but not yet because she is still useful to him. Tyler's parents have brought him to Mystic Grill for dinner and he is embarrassed by the fact that Vicki is waiting on them. He doesn't want his parents to think he could possibly be involved with her. His father is the mayor of the town.

Elsewhere, Bonnie is none too pleased that she doesn't have a date to the ball like all of her friends do. Caroline tells her everything about Damon and what goes on between the two brothers. It isn't so much truth as it is what Damon wants her to believe. Now that Bonnie knows she decides to go to Elena with the news. She does this so that she can get Elena away from Stefan who she officially does not trust anymore.

Zach asks why Damon has returned and Damon doesn't like the way it is going. He decides to grip up Zach by the throat and Stefan walks in on it. They want to get rid of Damon, but it isn't going to be an easy task considering the fact that this vampire does drink human blood. They decide that they are going to poison him with verbane. Elena gets a call from the mayor's wife and she says that the pocket watch that was a part of the set is missing. Elena is upset and goes and calls out Jeremy on it and he hid the watch because it was supposed to be his anyway. She decides that that is very true and lets him keep the time piece.

Damon and Stefan reflect back to when there was the first founder's ball. Damon loves that they don't get old. Stefan sarcastically retorts that being a 150 year old teenager is definitely the happiest part of his life. Damon gets a drink and realizes that it has verbane in it. Stefan talks to Zach and says that he knew that Damon would figure it out. He just wanted to get his guard down so he can slip him some later at the party.

It is time for the ball and Tyler has Vicki go in through the back so that his parents don't see them together. Caroline shows up with Damon and her mother isn't pleased about the fact that she is with him. Her mom also is the sheriff of this town. Jenna runs into Logan and he asks her out on a date and she rejects him. He was the last person that she wanted to see.

Elena sees the original guestbook for the first founder's day and sees the names of the brothers. Damon swoops in and says that they were the first brothers by that name. Caroline and Stefan go and dance and Damon talks to Elena. He says that he is sorry for being a creepster and tells her a story about the "original Salvatore brothers" and what they lost (Catherine) due to the war. Tyler has Vicki outside in the garden and she is upset because he is obviously embarrassed by her. He gets angry and things are about to get ugly but his mother comes out and interrupts. Vicki runs off because she is hurt and his mother tells him to stop bringing the trash around.

Logan is continuing on and on about how much he regrets hurting Jenna and apologizes that her sister and brother in law were murdered. Soon enough she finally decides to go to lunch with him. Elena and Stefan get in some dance time and they talk about his brother. She asks about Katherine but he has nothing to say. Elena isn't pleased about it and goes to have ice cream with her bestest friend Bonnie. She feels bad over the fight and didn't want to plant doubt in her mind.

Damon sneaks around the house looking for something. He finds a crystal that he hid in the house and he is complete. Bonnie watches Tyler's mother berate a waiter over not lighting candles. She lights all of the candles with her mind. At the end of the night, Stefan and Zach have Damon put into a cell and are trying to poison him.
