Bad Moon Rising - Recap

Alaric shows up to Damon and Stefan's home. They all (including Elena) want to know if he can tell them about the Lockwood family. He asks why they would think he would know anything and they tell him that he may not but his ex wife would since she did all of that research on the town. He says that it was fiction and Damon sarcastically replies with "like that amazing vampire story?" He is thinking it may be werewolves and Damon doesn't think that they exist. He wonders where they are if they actually exist.

Tyler is following his uncle through some woods. They explain that they have seen both Tyler and his uncle do some strange things. Alaric may be able to help them. Tyler found this weird place and is taking pictures in it. It seems like a serious dungeon with weapons. Matt is knocking on the door at Caroline's and because she is now a vampire, she can't open the door and let him in. He calls her and gets her voicemail. He tells her that Tyler wants to do something together and asks that she calls him. Elena is in her bedroom with Stefan and they are talking about how she is going to Duke with Damon to get information that her birth mother had acquired. They will be with Alaric and she is happy because he's a good buffer. Stefan wants to wait until Caroline is better at becoming a vampire before he leaves with them so they just need to go without him.

Alaric is at Elena's and talking to her aunt. He still digs her he's just been overwhelmed with everything. She also likes him still, too it seems. Elena makes it a point to passionately kiss Stefan in front of Damon before they leave. Then they take off for Duke. Tyler asks his mom if she's ever been to the old Lockwood estate in the woods. She tells them that she'd been there before and that they'd probably live there if it hadn't been burned down. He asks her why there is a dungeon and she says that they don't talk about that part of the house. He asks her why and she says "while we may live in the south, we don't like to talk about the slave days". The old house that was ruined used to be a plantation. His uncle walks in and he says he wants to have friends over to the swimhole. His mother tells him to be careful.

Stefan goes to speak to Bonnie about her making a walking ring. She says that she doesn't know how, but he figures that since Emily made his and Stefan's then she can probably figure it out even if she just checks out the book she has. She doesn't want to give her a chance to kill another person. He thinks that they should do everything they can do to help her or else they should stake her right now. In the car, Damon says that Elena needs to stop pretending that she hates him. Alaric says that she's hardly pretending since he killed her brother and all. Damon says that that statement has a giant Astrix since he came back to life. They are like "yeah right, you didn't know he had the ring" and he tries to convince them lazily that he did in fact know that he was wearing the ring since it's a huge clunky and ugly ring.

Bonnie has decided to help Caroline. She brings a ring to her and she isn't happy that she doesn't get to choose the ring that she'll have to wear for the rest of her life. Bonnie says it goes as she says and lays down some ground rules. She says that the person that does the spell also has the power to reverse it. So, the minute that she kills someone she will reverse it. Caroline thinks she won't, but Bonnie says that because she is a vampire and that it is inside of her to want to kill. Caroline seems upset that Bonnie doesn't trust her. She makes it so she can wear the ring and go outside. Bonnie and Caroline are definitely at odds at this point due to the change that she couldn't help.

Alaric and the gang get to Duke to ask about the research Isabelle acquired. Her assistant is there and offers to help. She walks off and when she comes back she has a cross bow and goes to kill Elena. Damon jumps in front of her and catches the arrow in his chest instead. Alaric grabs the assistant and slams her against the wall. Elena takes the arrow out of Damon and he is like awesome, now it is time to kill the broad. She tells him not to or she will never speak to him again. He asks her why she thinks that works on him and she's like "fine, see if I care". Alaric is speaking to the assistant and she apologizes as she is really freaked out by the situation. She obviously doesn't believe that Katherine is alive and that Damon was ever real since they're vampires and that's not real. Damon and Elena walk in and Elena tells her who she really is and who she's related to. She introduces her to Damon and he tells her she should really be nice to him after having shot him. They just need her help.

Elsewhere, Stefan is teaching Caroline what she needs to know to feed. She doesn't want to and she is freaking out and he explains that when he had turned over to a vampire his personality traits amplified. This explains to her that she is crazy times a million. He tells her that they should feed and then they'll go to the swimming hole like she wants to do cause she misses Matt. The assistant has found all of the information and is helping them find it all. Elena gives her vervane so she doesn't get bit up by Damon. At the water hole, there is a big party and Tyler's uncle shows up. He wants everyone to be out of there by dark so they don't end up hurt.

Matthew is talking to a chick named Amy and she is hitting on him. Caroline shows up when this happens and she compelled her to go hit on someone single. Stefan tells her that she shouldn't do that for shallow reasons. Elsewhere, Alaric has found some werewolf mythology. It seems that the information they found says that vampires and werewolves used to run wild and were savage years and years ago. An Aztec shaman in Virginia and set a curse on them so that the vampires couldn't come out in the sun and so that werewolves would become slaves to the moon. It doesn't seem like they can control the transformation. Vampires are the prey of choice for werewolves. Vampires hunted the werewolves to almost extinction.

Caroline tells Stefan he is mad at her and he says for her to go talk to him and that he'll wait. She goes up to talk to him and she apologizes and says that she will never do it again and that there will be no more drama. They hang out for a bit. Stefan is on the phone with Elena and she tells him that he needs to be careful because the bite of a werewolf is dangerous. He looks around and starts to get worried because he has no idea where Caroline is. He calls Caroline and follows the sound of the phone's ringer and it's in a truck. Tyler's uncle is currently chaining himself up. Tyler is bringing a lady down to where it is and his uncle had to run and try to find somewhere to chain himself up. He tied himself to a tree and then forced himself into a truck. He could not control the take over.

Elena asks the assistant if she did research on doppelgangers, but she didn't get any information besides the fact that doppelgangers usually torture the other one. Tyler's female friend says she's not into it because she likes Matt. Tyler doesn't seem that upset, more shocked than upset. Stefan is walking around the woods and ends up near where Tyler's uncle went to chain himself up at. He looks into the truck and sees the eyes of the werewolf and the wolf jumps out of the back window crashing past him. Alaric finishes up with the assistant and tells her that Isabelle became a vampire. Damon lets Elena into the car and wants her to stop hating him. He gives her a book full of information. He tells her that he understands why she hates him, but she hated him before and they became friends. He also says it would suck if that was gone forever. He asks if he's lost her forever. She thanks him for the book and gets into the car.

Matt and Caroline have found a private spot in the woods to make out in. They hear a weird sound and she still wants to kiss him, she gets super aggressive sexually and he gets hurt. She ends up licking his blood and she can't control it. She then starts to feed on Matt. She pulls herself away and then goes back to feeding on him too until Stefan finds her and pulls her off of him. He tells her they have to leave. He tells Matt to stay down and not move. He tells her to run as fast as she can so they can lead him away from Matt. They run and Caroline stops to ask what is going on. He tries to explain to her that it's a werewolf and they will attack and kill her. Tyler shows up and asks what they are doing and then a werewolf jumps on Caroline. Tyler is scared at first and doesn't know what to do. Then when the werewolf salivates all over her face Stefan rips him off of her and he gets his attention on Stefan. Tyler yells "NO!" The werewolf stops, stares, and then runs off.

Caroline eventually ends up glamoring Matt into not remembering what happened. She is clearly upset with herself about it. Stefan says that he'll get him on vervane so that she can't compel him or drink his blood. She can't believe she hurt the only person that he never wants to hurt. He tells her that it won't get easier and that she should work that much harder. Tyler finds his uncle's van, a chain, and the van's glass is broken. His uncle shows up dirty and naked. He then puts 2+2 together. Matt shows up at the spot they hang and the girl that was flirting with him before. She puts on a show that she is jealous and nuts and provides drama so that he'll break up with her and he does.

Alaric shows up to see Elena's aunt and kisses her passionately. Damon walks her to the door. She asks him to be honest and he says he did NOT know that Jeremy was wearing a ring and he apologizes. He tells her he doesn't know what he would've done if he wasn't wearing it. She tells him that the question he asked earlier can be answered with "Yes, you have lost me forever." This breaks his heart. He says that she clearly knew the answer to that, but she just used him. She says he had information she needed and he tells her that she has a lot more in common with Katherine than just looks. Caroline wakes up to Katherine who sits on her bed. She tells her not to be frightened because they're going to have so much fun together.
