Episode Recap

The Monarch has taken Hank and Dean hostage and demands a $10 million ransom from. He explains to Dr. Mrs. The Monarch that he figures the best way to get revenge on Rusty is to hit his pocketbook. Rusty doesn't have $10 million and offers him anything in the lab. The Monarch doesn't want his junk and Rusty offers him $5 million for Dean, since Hank called him "honky." The Monarch tells him to pay or else and cuts off. Suddenly Captain Sunshine breaks into the Flying Cocoon and blinds the villain, tosses him aside, and blinds the henchmen. Captain Sunshine vows to make the Monarch pay for what he did to Wonder Boy and flies off.

Rusty waits for the Monarch at an abandoned drive-in while Sgt. Hatred hides in a spider hole. Dr. Mrs. The Monarch reestablishes contact with Rusty and tries to stall, but the Monarch arrives and tells Henchman 21 to kill the cab driver who brought him there. He explains to his wife that Captain Sunshine dropped him at prison but the Monarch easily left because his due process was violated. He then sheepishly admits that when he was drinking heavily after they broke up, he killed Wonder Boy. Dr. Mrs. The Monarch explains that Captain Sunshine came back and rescued Hank. He left Dean, who is wandering around.

Outside, Henchman 21 pays off the cab driver so he doesn't have to kill him, and tells the man not to mention he's still alive. Captain Sunshine escapes with Hank, who admits he doesn't have a mother and angrily claims he doesn't have a father. Once Captain Sunshine learns that Hank is apparently an orphan, he says they should become super friends. They fly through a flock of birds and a startled Hank leaps into his arms. They arrive at Captain Sunshine's secret manor, complete a built in amusement park, and Captain Sunshine says Hank looks just like Wonder Boy.

The Monarch flies to the drive-in for the rendezvous and realizes that Rusty is trying to slip him photocopied counterfeit money. Hatred leaps from his spider hole but is quickly overwhelmed. When the Monarch lies and says they kept Hank as insurance, Hatred points out that Guild bylaws require him to return all hostages if the ransom's paid in good faith, and then throws up because of the heat in the spider hole. The Monarch calls a do-over and Rusty demands they at least give him Dean. Rusty agrees to give him an IOU and the villain leaves.

In the Sanctum Solarium, Captain Sunshine's butler Desmond greets him and winces when he realizes Captain Sunshine has brought another male orphan home. Captain Sunshine cancels his children's charity benefit and says that he'll be staying in with Hank tonight. The hero asks Hank if he'd like to become the new Wonder Boy. Hank agrees once he learns he'll get a whole costume, game tokens, and unlimited rides on the Ferris wheel.

Rusty tries to call Jonas Jr., but gets Pirate Captain, who tells him that Jonas Jr. is working on Gargantua II in the stratosphere. Rusty insists that Sgt. Hatred should pay the ransom because he screwed up, but Hatred admits he drank away most of his money and Princess Tinyfeet got the rest.

Peter White and Billy Quizboy are celebrating the fact they got paid $10 million for Conjectural Technologies business. Rusty calls them.

Desmond makes sure that Hank is nice and clean and Captain Sunshine waits eagerly in Hank's new bedroom. Desmond gives Hank a bottle of lubricant and sends him on. The hero tucks him in and offers him some warm milk to relax. He wishes Hank goodnight and leaves… and then comes back and says it's time for a slumber party.

Rusty convinces Peter and Billy to give him the $10 million for the ransom.

Captain Sunshine's heroic teammates call him for help in capturing Asbeastos. The hero admits he can't help because he has other concerns. Hank drops through a chute from his bed, dressed in a Wonder Boy outfit. He admits that the lube helped ease the transition, and the other heroes realize Captain Sunshine has another one.

The Monarch returns to the drive-in and finds Rusty and Dean there. The villain brings out "Hank" but he's not wearing Brock's old jacket and Rusty quickly realizes it's an imposter. The Monarch kicks him in the balls, grabs the money, and runs to the Flying Cocoon. Billy tries to shoot him but his gun jam. Inside, Dr. Mrs. the Monarch points out that now they have to give Hank back. However, she has a plan to find the hero. They're unaware that a shrunken Sgt. Hatred, disguised as a dollar bill, is inside the bag of ransom money.

Captain Sunshine takes Hank out in the Wonder Car and explains he has to learn how to patrol. His arch nemesis Scorpio drives by and is eager to "break" Hank in. Captain Sunshine insists that his new Wonder Boy is off-limits until after training. When Scorpio makes the mistake of taunting Captain Sunshine about losing the last Wonder Boy to the Monarch, the hero goes berserk, attacks him, and beats the villain to death with the tail of his Scorpion-Car. He then rushes hysterically to Hank's side.

Dr. Mrs. the Monarch figures out a way to track Captain Sunshine by his solarized DNA. Sgt. Hatred transmits the conversation to Rusty and explains if they can recover Hank, then the Guild bylaws require the Monarch to give the $10 million back.

Captain Sunshine to bed and apologizes for his earlier outburst. Hank says he still wants to be a sidekick but asks why they don’t crime at night. Captain Sunshine explains that they can't because he has an evening job… as Chuck Scarsdale, anchor for the Acton 5 news. The other heroes in their secret IDs begin the broadcast and Chuck arrives just in time.

Peter and Billy come to the manor and claim to be millionaire Bruce White and his faithful ward. When Desmond doesn't believe it, Rusty gasses the butler unconscious. As they run inside, Desmond manages to sound the alarm.

On the news, the team shows footage of the Flying Cocoon hovering over Captain Sunshine's manor. The hero goes berserk and the news crew goes to film about their new news copter. Captain Sunshine runs outside, takes the helicopter, and flies to the manor.

The Monarch and his men break into the manor and Hank takes on the Monarch and Henchman 21. He manages to hold his own, knocking a hidden Sgt. Hatred loose from Henchman 21. Rusty and the others hear Hank come to investigate. A berserk Captain Sunshine runs in, screaming for Wonder Boy.

The Monarch goes after Hank and follows him to his bedroom, only to fall through the bed, down the chute, and into a Wonder Boy costume. Captain Sunshine is donning his costume when the Monarch falls into the Sanctum Solarium. He realizes the hero is psychologically traumatized by seeing his new arch enemy in his sidekick's costume. The Monarch pulls out his solar blaster and explains that he now knows Captain Sunshine is powerless at night, and plans to use his new solar amplifier to overload his energy cells. However, the weapon energies Captain Sunshine, giving him his full powers. The hero incinerates the bad guys but Hank interrupts. He's forced to admit he has a father and that he appreciates everything Captain Sunshine has given him. However, he's figured out that the hero is using Hank to replace Wonder Boy. Captain Sunshine sobs and insists that Hank can be a great Wonder Boy, but Hank just wants to go home. The hero finally kisses Hank and insists that he broke his heart. Captain Sunshine walks away and when Hank asks if he can put in a good word with Batman, angrily tells him to leave.

Later, the Monarch, Dr. Mrs. the Girlfriend, and Henchman 21 take a cab back. When the driver wants money, the Monarch kills him.
