Self-Medication - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The Monarch launches his newest assault on the Venture Compound, ensnares Rusty with his Scarionette Cannon, and forces him to dance like a puppet, suspended in mid-air. However, Rusty's beeper goes off and he informs the Monarch that it's Wednesday night and time for therapy. There's a new Guild clemency clause and Rusty tries to show him the note from his doctor. Once he does, the Monarch is happy to note that he's driven his arch-nemesis insane. He calls in his troops, including Henchman 21 who was on the verge of killing Sgt. Hatred.

Rusty explains to his psychologist how his father Jonas used to provide psychiatric counseling when he was a boy, and why he was reluctant to go back into therapy. The psychiatrist assures him that he's not alone and welcomes him to his group of former boy adventurers. Introductions are in order and they begin. Wonderboy explains that when he was replaced at age 18, he started overeating and has abandonment issues. Next are Lance and Dale Hale, the famous Hale Brother detectives. Dale is still having trouble getting over the murder of their father, and they had to quit their jobs because they never solved his father. Next is Ro-Boy, who tries to introduce himself. However, Action Johnny interrupts to explain that he was sentenced to therapy by Johnny Law and Judge Johnny. The psychiatrist asks that they turn off all their communication equipment.

Sgt. Hatred takes Dean and Hank to the third movie in a trilogy. Sgt. Hatred nervously notices there's a lot of young kids there. Henchman 21 and his teammates sit in front of them, blocking their view.

Action Johnny is talking about his drug habit, Rusty about the fact he couldn't wear long pants until he was out of college, Lance about how he and his brother "accidentally" got their fingerprints on their father's murder weapon, Ro-Boy about his violent sprees; and Wonderboy about how he can't get an erection unless he's tied to a chair.

Dean tries to explain the trilogy to Sgt. Hatred, and Henchman 21 complains that they're talking and wonders how anyone goes to the third movie in the trilogy without seeing the first two. Hank argues with Henchman 21 while Sgt. Hatred finally has to run out rather than give in to his pedophile urges.

The psychiatrist has Action Johnny act out with a hand puppet of an angry native, and encourages him to confront his problem head on. Johnny finally starts a dialogue and the native explains that Action Johnny and his family terrorized them sot hey fought back. Johnny apologizes and reluctantly gives the doll a hug. Wonderboy and the Hales point out they didn't deal with angry natives. Finally, the psychiatrist explains that the native's name was actually chemical dependence. He calls Dr. Venture up but then starts convulsing and falls over dead. Action Johnny panics and Dale instinctively starts investigating. Dr. Venture examines the victim's tea and discovers something in it. Ro-Boy tries to reboot the psychiatrist and demonstrates how to shut himself down. A viper crawls out of the psychiatrist's groin and everyone panics. They argue about the type of snake and Wonderboy realizes he's out of snake repellant. As the viper goes after Dr. Venture, who realizes the tea had snake pheromones in it. Ro-Boy reboot and incinerates the viper. Johnny steals the psychiatrist's prescription pads, and Dale checks the files to figure out who else the psychiatrist treated, and who might want him dead. Lance objects but Dale insists they owe it to the man, and to their dad. They find a matchbook to a strip club, Nightin Ales. They figure the murderer dropped it.

Sgt. Hatred runs into the theater bathroom only to see more young boys. He tries to inject himself with nomolestrol but discovers that he's all out of medication. Sgt. Hatred runs out in terror.

The team drives to the strip bar for a little man adventure. They spot a henchman for Dr. Z and figures the Asian mastermind is involved. Action Johnny tries to go in but the bouncer informs him he's been banned. Johnny picks a fight and the boy adventurers manage to defeat the opposition.

Hank and Dean wait for Sgt. Hatred outside the bathroom. They finally realize their bodyguard left a series of messages explaining that he had to lock himself in the panic room and start drinking when his urges started to get the better of him and he realized he was all out of meds. Hank and Dean ask Henchman 21 for a ride.

Action Johnny leads the team to Dr. Z's house, figuring he's responsible and the henchman is only a puppet. Dr. Z mistakes them for trick-or-treaters but Johnny bursts in and demands answers. The villain insists that he hasn't arched Johnny for years, and if he did then Johnny would know it. Mrs. Z asks who is visiting and offers to make a meal for her husband's friends.

Hank and Dean head home and Sgt. Hatred tells them to back away. He's going to take the X-1 to Thailand to buy a little brown boy-girl for when the urges come. Sgt. Hatred insists he can't fight the urges without his meds, and Princess Tinyfeet is the only person who could help him get over his urges.

Wonderboy starts compulsively eating Mrs. Z's food. Dr. Z points out that they wanted to beat him up because of a matchbook. He tells them that they need to give it all up and leave it to the new generation of boy adventurers. Dr. Z admits that he's happy to have settled down, even though he and his wife can't have children. Ro-Boy suggests they adopt him. And Rusty realizes that he's not alone and doesn't need therapy. He's normal and he grew up, and got his own business and his own family. He leaves to get back to them.

Dean tells Sgt. Hatred that Princess Tinyfeet has come to see him. He comes out but discovers it's Hank in disguise. Dean nets him and Henchman 21 and his men shoot him with tranquilizer darts.

Later, Henchman 21 is discussing the last movie of the trilogy with the skull of Henchman 24. The Monarch comes by and asks how the movie was. Henchman 21 hastily covers up the fact he's talking to his dead friend's skull. As the Monarch leaves, he stops to ask if Henchman 21 followed his orders. Henchman 21 assures him that they slipped viper into the psychiatrist's air vent and he's dead by now. The Monarch tells his minion to prepare the Scarionette Cannon for the next night, when they will arch anew!
