Past Tense - Recap

The episode starts of with Brock and the Venture family going to the funeral of Dr. Venture’s former friend, Michael Sorayama. Dr Venture, inside the X-1 (his jet), is struggling to put his pants on, and accidentally hits a control panel on the jet, causing the jet to dive done and emergency land at the cemetery. Brock manages to stop and land it safely, although it did cause panic and some damage in the cemetery.

When attending the funeral session, Hank asks his father how Michael and his dad are related to each other. Dr. Venture then tells him his recollection of the times they were in college together

[Flashback]
Dr. Venture appears in college as a younger self, talking to his father on the phone; while Michael was watching TV and on the computer. Dr. Venture’s nick name at that time was T.S. and had much more hair, but he was still called Rusty by his father, Jonas Venture.

Michael asks Dr. Venture if he could ask his father for a reference, since he wanted to change his major to robotics. Dr. Venture changes the subject to Michael’s chemistry book and points out Michael likes a girls he’s helping out with Chemistry homework, called Leslie Cohen, whom Michael has a big crush on.
Mr. White pops in the room; he too was a college friend of Dr. Ventures. And also was Brock for that matter. Brock was Dr Venture’s roommate. And Mr. White’s roommate was Baron Underbheit. Dr Venture mentions he attended a creative writing class, were none other then the Monarch attended this class as well.
[Flashback Ends]

After Mr. White and Dr. Venture recollect their college years, the priest finishes his eulogy, he denotes that Michael’s Sorayama's last wish was that Brock, Dr. Venture, Mr. White, and Baron Underbheit would escort Michael’s coffin to his final resting place. Out of a sudden, while they grabbed the coffin, a hole appeared to the sides of were they were grabbing the coffin and hand cuffed them to the casket, a gas appeared and immobilized them. After this, the coffin then turned itself into a rocket and flew them all away.

Later, at the Venture compound, Dean calls the Monarch if had anything to do with this, but the monarch denied involvement. Meanwhile Dean looks through his Fathers old stuff and finds a box that contained photos of Dr. Jonas’s Venture’s old group “Team Venture”. Hank points out that they aren’t old enough to find his father alone and that they need help. Hank and Dean contacted a member of “Team Venture” and he agreed to meet with the venture brothers after assembling his old team.

Brock, Dr. Venture, Mr. White, and Baron Underbheit are taken to a dungeon by female looking robots and are chained to a wall; they are awakened by another unusual gas. Brock instantly blames this on Baron Underbheit, which Brock failed to see that the Baron is also chained to the wall. A voice suddenly starts talking and also a screen appears lowering down, It is none other then Michael Sorayama inside the screen.

The original Team Venture arrives at “Rusty’s” house and meets with Hank and Dean. They introduce themselves to Hank and Dean as follows:
Colonel Gentleman, who strikingly resembles Sean Connery; Kano, an expert of the martial arts; Otto Aquarius, half Atlantis half Human; and, The Action Man.

Meanwhile in the Dungeon the four robots serve Brock, Dr. Venture, Mr. White, and Baron Underbheit dinner; while Michael Sorayama tells them about the robots intentional familiarity to Leslie Cohen. It would seem Michael was obsessed with Leslie in college.

In the Venture headquarters, the original Team Venture discusses how their going to get Dr. Venture and Brock back. They mention a homing device that was implanted into one of “Rusty’s” teeth when he was young. Before they left, Dr. Orpheus dropped by looking for his kitten, and is mistaken to be an enemy by the original Team Venture, they shoot at him. Eventually the matter gets resolved and Dr. Orpheus leaves.

[Flashback]
In another Flash Back, we are shown Mr. White, Dr. Venture and Baron Underbheit in a circle while Michael is smoking some so called pot from a bong. Michael reacts to the so called pot he smoked laughing out loud and rolling on the floor. But this was just a prank that Baron Underbheit planed. Instead of marijuana, he used oregano. But Baron Underbheit didn’t know Michael was allergic to oregano.
[Flashback Ends]

Michael tells Baron Underbheit he could of died and more importantly he had to cancel a study date with Leslie. It is at this time the Baron infuriates himself taking down one robot with his metal jaws, but fails to escape; another robot shocked him and made him get unconscious.

The original Team Venture, Hank and Dean are on their way to Dr. Venture’s location, or so they think. They arrive at the location and only find a kid studying in his dorm room and got threatened by The Action Man, while Kano finds the Molar under the kids Bed. Colonel Gentleman tells everyone that this was Dr. Venture dorm room back then, and also asks Hank if he forgot to tell him about anything from his fathers disappearance, Hank re mentions Michael Sorayama name, and the college student who is also in the dorm room at the moment knows who Michael Sorayama and mentions its his professor, and also mentions he didn’t know Michael was dead.

[Flashback]
In yet another flash back, Mr. White appears on his radio show and gives out a dedication song to Leslie Cohen from Michael, stating that Michael masturbates to Leslie’s picture furiously all night every night. Of course this is a lie Mr. White made up as a joke.
[Flashback Ends]

The original Team Venture, Hank and Dean arrive at Michael Sorayama house/castle and beet up all the robots at the entrance.

[Flashback]
Mr. White, Dr. Venture and Baron Underbheit and Michael are playing Dungeons and Dragons and Michael creates a character known as Leslie Golem, Dr. Venture as a joke creates a character that seduces Leslie, so that Michael would get mad. The next day, Leslie wakes up and leaves Dr. Venture’s room. As Leslie leaves Michael knocks on Dr. Venture’s room and sees Leslie coming out, Michael assumes Rusty slept with her.
[Flashback Ends]

Dr, Venture then says it wasn’t him, it must have been Brock. Brock escapes thanks to Baron Underbheit’s jaw and leaves the dungeon. It is at this time, Michael calls for his robots to kill Brock. The original Team Venture team dresses up as Michael’s robots.

[Flashback]
On the finale flashback, Michael relates the time when Brock accidentally killed his fellow football team mate, Tommy the quarterback, which caused him to get thrown off the team. Brock got drunk that night and went back to his dorm room screamingly mad and brutally beats everyone who was in his room.
[Flashback Ends]

At the same time Michael relates this story, Brock plays out the same thing but this time his anger is towards the original Team Venture dressed as Michael’s robots. But Brock is so infuriated that he doesn’t see that they aren’t the robots. Brock throws Otto Aquarius to a wall which he shedders; Otto Aquarius then lands on Michael, who was behind the wall. Brock walks in behind the broken wall to see a headless robot of Michael lying on the floor saying repeatedly the name “Leslie”
In the same room were this robot is found, Dean finds a coffin and opens it to reveal the real Michael Sorayama, whom really is dead.

[Flashback]
After the end role credits, in another flashback, Brock appears with Dr. Venture. He tells Dr. Venture that his college scholarship ended and that he’s leaving, just before he left, Brock tells Dr. Venture that Dr. Ventures Dad died.
[Flashback Ends]
