The episode’s opener starts with a TV announcer mentioning what happened on the previous episode of “The Venture Bros.”, but of course their was no part one episode of “Escape to the House of Mummies” from last week or a “To be continued”. This announcer says that the Venture family and Brock find themselves being chased around by an Egyptian cult known as Osiris, whom are trying to resurrect “The perfect Man”. The Venture family and Brock are along side with three of history’s and time’s notable people, which are: Sigmund Freud, Dr. Sigmund Freud and Caligula; thanks to the cults time machine.
Scenes and situation that happened on this opening recap sequence are shown to us follows:
The Perfect man being born and hatched from a large golden egg.
Caligula showing and giving Dr. Venture were he hid the hand of Osiris,
The boys getting captured by the Osiris cult; Brock and Dr. Venture dressing up like a “four armed god” to trick the guards into giving back the boys.
The boys wanting to take the perfect man with them, but Dr. Venture calls this “perfect man” an abomination and sends Brock to kill it.
A leader or priest of the Osiris cult was about to kill the boys on a alter as a sacrifice, as a threat to Dr. Venture if he doesn’t give him the “Hand of Osiris”, but Dr. Venture says some sarcastic remark that distracts the priest. Then the true leader of the cult orders the lower priest to take them to “The hall of sorrows” which might as well be a dungeon.
When the recap of the fake episode finishes and the opening credits are over, the Venture family is shown trapped in a holding cell type of dungeon inside the pyramid. Dean tries to escape through the mouth of a jackal statue, but is unable to get threw due to his larger shoulders. Dr. Venture then gives it a try, but the walls seem to have started to move closer and closer together with semi large spikes coming out of them. Hank suggest calling Dr. Orpheus for help, but Dr. Venture is less then happy to call him stating that all Dr. Orpheus would do after he helps them would be brag about it the next day to Dr. Venture. Brock persuades Dr. Venture to call Dr. Orpheus stating that he’s the only chance of ever escaping the pit. And so Dr. Venture reluctantly agrees and calls him.
Dr. Venture calls Dr. Orpheus and Dr. Orpheus doesn’t think he can transport them out of their. He says he can astral-project himself their though. Then Dr. Venture mentions to him sarcastically that that would be a great idea to see them die by slowly moving walls with spikes attached to them. It is that point when Dr. Venture mentions the moving walls with spikes attached to them that Dr. Orpheus gets an idea to help save them from the impending danger team Venture is on. Dr Orpheus asks Dean to picture his daughter, Tirana, naked and kissing him. This was so that Dr Orpheus would locate the presence of the Venture family and short-circuit the entire room including the walls. Dr Orpheus powers also threw everyone around the room. Dr. Venture then escapes through the mouth of the statue of a jackal and flies the X-1 (his jet) back to the Venture Compound and goes into his lab; to later help his family escape.
Back in the pyramid, still trapped in the dungeon type room, the boys and Brock are visited by the high priest and leader of the Osiris cult aside with a minion of his. The leaders starts to ask who broke “The hall of sorrows”, to which Brock replied “Don’t know? What was supposed to happen?” The high priest in a angrily manner starts to explain to Brock that the room was going to pierce and crush everyone inside it, scolding hot oil was going to come out of the mouth of the statue of the jackal. The minion then states that he thought the high priest told him to fill the statue with hot voile. The high priest gets mad at his minion and demands him to leave the room. The high priest asks were Dr. Venture is Brock tells him that Brock and the boys ate him. The high priest sneezes and the randomly starts rambling about the mask he’s wearing and how it’s now filled with mucus. Brock punches him while he’s distracted.
Back at the Venture compound, Dr. Orpheus meets with Dr. Venture in Dr. Venture’s lab, where Dr. Venture is gathering his gadgets and tools he’s going to use to go back and free his sons and Brock with. Dr. Orpheus tells Dr. Venture he was worried for them all and that he’s glad that Dr. Venture is safe. Dr. Venture tells the Dr. Orpheus that Brock and the boys are still in the pyramid and might be dead by now. Dr. Orpheus wants to go and help them, and is surprised to hear that their trapped in a pyramid. And so he asks Dr. Venture who this cult is. Dr. Venture tells him it has to do with a cult that follows Osiris. Dr. Orpheus is amazed to hear it has to deal with the Osiris cult. Then he starts to ask to Dr. Venture if he even knows what Dr. Orpheus does for a living. Dr. Venture, sarcastic as always, responds to him that it has something to do with card tricks. Dr. Orpheus then angrily tells him what exactly he does, but Dr. Venture doesn’t care. The two of them duke it out and Dr. Orpheus keeps giving examples of his powers but every time Dr. Venture says he could do the same thing with any of his given inventions. Dr. Venture challenges Dr. Orpheus to a match. Dr. Orpheus suggests that the contest be the next morning and it would be a shrinking contest, the man who shrinks himself the most wins. They agree to it. While leaving the room, Dr. Orpheus mentions to Dr. Venture that the shrinking ray Dr. Venture’s father created was sold to Master Billy Quizboy and Pete White some time ago; causing Dr. Venture to get upset and nervous.
Meanwhile back in the pyramid, Brock and Hank find Dean’s head inside a miniature tube like pyramid. Still alive, Dean tells them that the man with the mask of a bird on it, the leader and high priest of the cult, commands an army of mummies, and that one of the mummies has a magic scepter. This mummy sneaks up behind Brock and Hank, but Hank tells Dean that that mummy is their friend. Hank starts to ask the mummy were an exit is and accidentally breaks its head off. Brock starts to get inpatient and complains about where Dr. Venture could be.
Back in Dr. Orpheus’ house, Dr. Orpheus practices his shrinking abilities to shrink himself but unintentionally shrinks his desk.
Now, at Pete White’s and Master Billy Quizboy’s mobile house, Pete White and Master Billy Quizboy arrive to their house and find it been ransacked. They think its dew to an unknown super villain and come to the conclusion that their back in business. When suddenly they hear noises coming from the corner of a couch; Billy Quizboy demands whoever is behind the couch to come forward. Dr. Venture comes out of hidding, and then Billy asks if he’s their arch nemesis out of spite. Dr. Venture explains why he’s their and why he did it, he also explains the competition he agreed to with Dr. Orpheus. Billy leaves the room and comes back with the Shrinking gun Dr. Venture was looking for in a bag and it apparently looks to be broken. Dr. Venture asks him what happened to it. No strait answer appears given by the two, and so Dr. Venture asks if they could help him fix it. Reluctantly, Pete and Billy complain that Dr. Venture broke into their house and threw everything around. Dr. Venture gives in and asks them if they could fix it and they will get paid for it after.
Apparently Brock and the Boys got out, and are now somewhere in the past with Brock chocking Edgar Allan Poe. Brock asks Edgar where he put the “Hand of Osiris”. Edgar gives in and tells Brock he hid it under the floor boards of his house. Hank starts to worry about the timeline and wonders if they are messing with it, Dean says to Hank not to worry about it.
Back in Dr. Orpheus’ house, Dr. Orpheus goes into Triana’s room and opens her closet door. Inside the closet is a vortex like whole that has a great spectacle of lights coming from it. Dr. Orpheus mindlessly looks into it while Triana walks into her room. Triana gets upset with her father over this closet. Triana, while Dr. Orpheus tries to calm her down, explains that she’s always been afraid to go near it. She says she thought she was going crazy and that she never changes her close because of it. Dr. Orpheus thought it was a phase, and that teenagers did that normally, like Dean and Hank. She thinks it’s a doorway to hell. Dr. Orpheus explains to her that it’s a portal to the necropolis, but then gets discouraged and pulls a sleeping spell on her to make her go to sleep and forget the incident ever happened. It is then Dr. Orpheus walks into the portal door.
Meanwhile back in Dr. Venture lab, Pete, Billy and Dr. Venture seem to be hard at work trying to fix Dr. Venture’s shrinking gun, taking calculations and such, or as we thought they were doing. It seems that they were actually taking some sort of personality test instead. Time passes by, while they continue to write. Pete finishes first, Billy asks for more time, while Dr Venture also finishes and asks what they got. Pete and Dr. Venture tell their answers out load while Billy didn’t understand the questions and becomes upset when Pete reads Belly’s answers out load.
Back inside the portal to the necropolis, Dr. Orpheus, looking for his so called master or teacher, mistakens a sleeping three headed dog on a thrown for Cerberus and attacks it. The dog gets hit on the head once, and then it starts talking to Dr. Orpheus. It appears to be Dr. Orpheus’ master; he was in his animal form for no apparent reason. Dr. Orpheus’ Master starts to brag and tease Dr. Orpheus that he doesn’t have any friends, Dr. Orpheus responds to this and says he has many friends. To what Dr. Orpheus’ master says that Dr. Venture doesn’t count, Dr. Orpheus’ master then says a purposely wrong statement about him being in the form of Argos as to test Dr. Orpheus, and so Dr. Orpheus corrects him by stating that he’s in the form of Cerberus. Dr. Orpheus’ master now explains why Dr. Orpheus has no friends, he says that Dr. Orpheus is a “know it all” and that no one likes a “know it all”… During this conversation Dr. Orpheus’ master, still in the form of Cerberus, starts liking himself and rambles about how it’s weird that he enjoys it. Dr. Orpheus interrupts him and asks what all this has to do with the subject; Dr. Orpheus’ mentor tells him that it has everything to do with most of his problems, from why Dr. Orpheus’s wife left him to why know one respects him. Dr. Orpheus says that it was because he was out saving the world to many times. Dr. Orpheus’ mentor continues to state that the reason she left him was because Dr. Orpheus continually worked and in his free time was spent being like Mr. Roger in a cap. His final thought is that she left him because Dr. Orpheus is a wuss.
Meanwhile, Brock, the Boys, Sigmund Freud, Caligula, and Edgar Allan Poe, are all on a balcony inside the pyramid again. They see Dr. Venture being brought out by some minions of the Osiris cult. Then almost immediately after that, they see Brock and the boys coming out, being escorted by other minions. The Brock whom which is in the balcony asks Hank what date and year did he set the time machine for; hank responded that he put 1230 AD. Brock figures out that Hank must of set it to 12:30AM
Back at the Venture compound in Dr. Ventures lab, Billy Quizboy test the fixed shrinking gun on H.E.L.P.eR . The test is successful but they forgot to resize H.E.L.P.eR. Now they need to test it on living matter. They debate who should be the test subject, they all agree to use Billy as a guinea pig. Billy tries to come up for excuses that he has something to live for and doesn’t want to accept being a test subject.
Dr. Orpheus’ mentor, back inside the necropolis with his pupil, councils Dr. Orpheus on his life and how Triana sees him; Dr. Orpheus’ mentor, still in the form of Cerberus, the starts to ramble about how his legs shake on their own.
Again, back inside Dr. Venture’s lab, Pete attempts to shrink Master Belly Quizboy with the shrinking gun. At first they think the gun malfunctioned, because Billy was still as tall as he was, but Belly tells them they shrunk his lungs instead of his body. Dr. Venture and Pete laugh at him and Belly gets angry at them while he was choking to death.
Brock, still at the pyramid, tells Hank to team up with Caligula for the attack pattern, but changes his mind when he sees Caligula dry humping Hank, and sends Hank to team up with Sigmund Freud, and for Caligula to be at the last wave alone. Dean’s head goes with the mummy while they ride the perfect man. They are to attack right after the 2 Brocks and Edgar Allan Poe charge in.
Pete and Dr. Venture try again to Shrink Billy; the second attempt fails to shrink his entire body, but only shrinks his head. And the third attempt actually enlarges Belly’s body
Dr. Orpheus looking into the deep void of space, still in the necropolis with his mentor, now understands how other view him, and vows to change. Dr. Orpheus’ mentor complements Dr. Orpheus and tells him to leave the closet and to go win Dr. Ventures contest.
Pete White, Dr. Venture and Billy start to debate what could be wrong with the shrinking gun. Dr. Venture gives up and says it’s already time for his match with Dr. Orpheus. He starts talking about how his father was better at being a scientists and inventing things, while the only thing Dr. Venture himself was good at was being a “boy adventurer”. Billy tells the Dr. that he wasn’t a good “boy adventurer” but “the best boy adventurer”. Billy leaves the room to look for something, while Dr. Orpheus walks in and forfeits the match to Dr. Venture. Dr. Orpheus gave up because he can not make himself any smaller then he is at the moment. Dr, Venture laughed a bit and asks Dr. Orpheus how much the bet was for. Dr. Venture thinks it was for a million dollars, but Dr. Orpheus says that it was for nothing, it was mealy a gentleman's bet. Dr. Orpheus asks Dr. Venture how small he got. Dr. Venture says he never got the shrinking gun to work. Billy comes back and takes out an old “Team Venture” lunchbox and starts to relate the story on how it was Dr. Venture’s early life that got Billy interested to becoming a boy genius. Dr. Venture feels better about himself and much more confident on himself as well. Dr. Orpheus ask them all to join him while he makes them some pudding, they all start walking out of the lab to Dr. Orpheus house, but suddenly Dr. Orpheus tells Dr. Venture that he feels that he’s forgotten something. Dr. Venture says he forgot to turn off the lights. Dr. Venture opens the door and we see H.E.L.P.eR about to be squashed by. Dr. Venture.
Dr. Venture completely forgets about his children and Brock’s situation.
After the role credits at the end of the show, the imaginary announcer says “Next week on the Venture Bros.” and we see the 2 Brock's with Hank in the middle of a snow storm. Brock is holding Hank in his arms while Hank is saying to him he feels cold and being pessimistic that he is going to die. Brock asks the other Brock to open the carcass remains of Edgar Allan Poe to stuff Hank in him to keep him warm. The other Brock can’t bare the stench of the insides of the poet. Just the, Brock curses Dr. Ventures name when he sees their all forsaken.
