The Lepidopterists - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The episode starts with the Monarch’s floating Cocoon fortress hovering toward Spider Skull Island. Inside the Cocoon, the Monarch orders his henchmen to make the Cocoon go slower, charge the Cocoon’s lighting canon, and go into their battle stations. The Monarch tells them on his order to attack, and that he will show Dr. Venture the “true power of the Cocoon."

Inside the Spider Skull Island base, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr., Sally, Ned and Pirate Captain are watching the Monarch’s Cocoon fortress approach their island via view screen. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells his team that he thinks that he’s got a new enemy to deal with and he'll give him a run for his money. As Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. says this, he says they're apparently under attack by a pinecone. Ned starts singing “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow…," Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that it’s no time for singing. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells his fellow teammates to “assemble Ventronic." The floor underneath the seats where Sally, Ned, Pirate Captain and Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. were sitting opens, causing them to fall inside these holes. Sally drops inside a white/yellow room, wearing a white/yellow jumpsuit. After a helmet covers Sally’s face, Sally yells out “Ventronic Gold is go." Inside a similar looking room in blue Pirate Captain lands into a chair wearing a similar blue jumpsuit. After a helmet covers Pirate Captain’s face, Pirate Captain yells out “Ventronic Blue is go." Inside a red room, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. lands into a chair wearing a similar red jumpsuit. After a helmet covers Dr. Jonas Venture Jr.’s face, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. yells out “Ventronic Red is go." Finally Ned lands inside a somewhat similar looking room but the walls are covered with all sorts of colors and baby toys. After Ned lands, he refuses to put on the helmet that dropped down from a hole. All four members are then shown in a multiscreen view and yelling out simultaneously “Go Ventronic!"

Outside view of Spider Skull Island, four vehicles come out of one of the Island’s skull’s eyes, each with a unique look to it. All four ships look somewhat similar with the exception to Ned’s. Ned’s craft has the shape of a clown wearing a pointy hat. Inside Dr. Jonas Venture Jr.'s craft, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. calls out to his teammates join him. Sally tells them that she’ll form the legs. Pirate Captain tells them that he’ll form the right arm. And Ned joyfully tells them he’s flying. As they say this, they connect their crafts to each other, forming a large mecha robot. After the mecha robot is completely assembled, the robot takes out a flaming sword, and the team inside of the robot yells simultaneously out “Go Ventronic!’

Inside the Monarch’s Cocoon fortress, the Monarch and Dr. Mrs. the Monarch are watching Ventronic form. The Monarch asks what that thing is. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch who is wearing her old Dr. Girlfriend outfit, tells him that she thinks it was a giant robot with some sort of ice cream cone for one of its arms (the latter referring to Ned’s ship). The Monarch then orders his henchmen to fire the Cocoon’s lightning canon. He tells his henchmen to aim the canon at the robot’s head, because he says he wants to be able to smell the burning flesh from Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. The cannon shoots a bolt of lightning that engulfs the robot, but Ventronic counteracts the lighting bolts. It's not effective at all. The Monarch, standing up inside his cocoon, notices this happen, and says out load that his lighting canon sucks, and then asks aloud: “Who loaded it with robot food?” Dr. Mrs. the Monarch, sitting on her throne, tells the henchmen to go to evasive action and turn the Cocoon to stern. After she commands this, the Cocoon is shown tumbling about and The Monarch loses his balance.

Inside Ventronic, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells Pirate, who is inside of Ventronic blue, the right arm of Ventronic, to use his energy blade. Pirate Captain tells him that he will. Ventronic’s right arm thrusts back, and inside the arm, Pirate Captain is shown taking in a powerful gravitational force as the arm moves down to slash the cocoon. Ventronic moves in to slash the Cocoon, and it appears to have (at least) touched it.

The Cocoon interior is in shambles, and the crew seemed doomed. Number 21, on the control panel of the Cocoon’s bridge, tells the Monarch that the helm isn’t responding. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch tells everyone that the ship’s systems are down and that they are all sitting ducks. The Monarch, saddened by his defeat, looks down at his throne and touches his goatee. The Monarch then gets up and smiles. He tells one of his henchmen to hail Dr. Venture on the big screen. The Henchman asks him if he wants to give up. The Monarch tells him that he wants to do something to him. Inside Ventronic, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. receives an incoming hail from the Monarch. His view screen turns on. On the view screen, the Monarch spins his throne around and has an evil look on his face. The Monarch tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that he has one minute to surrender his robot, and that if he refuses, the Monarch threatens that he’ll open fire on Ventronic. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells the Monarch that he’ll give him twenty seconds to kiss his wife goodbye before he finishes them off for good. As he finishes threatening the Monarch, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. inadvertently calls the Monarch “Mr. Evergreen." The Monarch corrects him by telling him his name. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. asks him about his Cocoon, calling it a pinecone. The Monarch corrects him again telling him it’s a cocoon. When he finishes correcting him, the Monarch asks Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. to hold on for a moment. The view screen inside Ventronic turns off. Inside the Monarch’s Cocoon, the Monarch is saddened over Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. not falling for his trick. He tells Dr. Mrs. the Monarch that he even tried a throne spin on him. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch tells him that what he did was a cliché, and that Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. would have never fallen for it in the first place. The Monarch tells her to hold on for a moment because he came up with another idea. Back inside Ventronic, the Monarch hails Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. again, and the view screen inside Ventronic turns back on. The Monarch tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that he’s trying to arch him, and further tells him that he, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr., isn’t doing his part very well. The Monarch then asks him what he thinks he is doing. The Monarch then calls Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. a retard. The view screen's image turns to Ned saying that the Monarch had just said the “No-No word." Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells Ned that he noticed. Ned’s image inside Ventronic’s fades off and turns back to the Monarch. The Monarch, now talking to Dr. Mrs. the Monarch asks her if Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. had just hung up on him. The Monarch notices that Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. came back on to his view screen, and Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that the word “retard” is a hateful word and that they don’t use those kinds of slurs. The Monarch tells him that he’s his archenemy and that he refuses to use clichés when speaking to him, because it isn’t his style. The Monarch tells him that Ned needs to get “thicker skin." Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that Ned has a very thick skin in that his skin is three inches thick. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. then asks the Monarch how he thinks Ned’s condition makes him feel. The Monarch tells him that he doesn’t really know but tells him that it probably feels itchy. The Monarch, getting back on subject, tells him that he needs to keep the fight to “cat and mouse” and not “cat and missile." Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. asks the Monarch if he thinks it’s a game, and asks him if they should fake fight. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. then calls this ridiculous. The Monarch tells him that it’s to “sharpen their claws” or like fencing, and that it’s about the art of the fight. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that he likes that thought, and tells him that he’s about to bring on the “killing move." Dr. Mrs. the Monarch warns Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that if he does this, the Guild will step in and will take him down with everything they got including his family. The Monarch then steps in and tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. to call the Guild and ask them to get him a copy of the “rule book." While the Monarch say this to him, he tells him that he’ll be waiting for him inside the Cocoon. Before he cuts the communication, he warns Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that if he performs any false moves he will destroy him. The communication screen cuts off, and inside the Cocoon, the Monarch asks Dr. Mrs. the Monarch how his performance was. He then asks her if she thinks Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. noticed the flames in the background. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch tells the Monarch that she doesn’t believe that they are fooling him and tells the Monarch that they have to come up with a new plan soon or they will all die. The Monarch tells her that she didn’t marry a fool and reassures her that no “Venture” will ever take him down. The Monarch then calls to his engineering staff and tells them to restore the impulse power inside the cocoon. The Monarch then has henchmen 21 and 24 to come to him. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch tells the Monarch to also call out henchman Number 1. The Monarch then calls out for henchman Number 1. All three henchmen, including henchman Number 1, who is an athletic man wearing a slightly different equipment built and also a baldric, to come up to the Monarch. The Monarch tells them that he wants them to quickly execute a “Dark S 7” maneuver. The three henchmen all say “Yes Monarch” at the same time and they start to move along. As they leave, the Monarch moves his throne to the adjacent side look more dramatic. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch then turns her throne around and asks the Monarch if there is a specific reason why he always chooses Numbers 21 and 24 for missions. The Monarch tells her that what he’s about to tell her may sound crazy, but he says that both Numbers 21 and 24 have the “rare blend of expendability and invulnerability“ that makes a perfect henchman.

As they are walking inside a hallway in the Monarch’s floating cocoon fortress, Number 21 asks Number 24 if he knows what a “Dark S 7” maneuver is. Number 24 tries to tell him something, but Number 1 interrupts him and explains to them that the “dark” in the “Dark S 7” indicates that it’s a stealth maneuver. Number 1 attempts to continue his explanation but is interrupted by Number 21, who asks him who he thinks he is, and then tells him that Number 24 and himself work as a duo only.

Inside a Guild monitoring station, Watch and Ward, two Guild operatives, are talking to Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. via view screen. Ward tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that they’ve done all they can, and that they're sorry that his arching isn’t working out. Ward continues to say that this isn’t their problem, and that the Guild is an antagonist organization only. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. asks them who handles the claims pertaining to the “good guys." Watch tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that they prefer the less “hateful” term “protagonists." Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells them that he’s sorry for unintentionally insulting them, and then corrects himself and asks them who handles the protagonist’s side of arching. Ward asks him if he’s serious, and tells him that it’s OSI who handles them. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. asks them if they could patch him through to the OSI. Ward sarcastically tells him that they will, and asks him to hold on so that he could get his “red phone” which is the “hotline” phone. Watch continues to make fun of Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. and tells him that he’s going to “shine the OSI Signal” to communicate with them. Again, Ward continues to taunt Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. by telling him if he really believes, he could click his heals to call them with. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. gets frustrated and tells them that gets it. The communication signal fades off, and Ward tells Watch if he that he had seen how Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. “creepy little body” looked. Watch asks him if when he was a little kid if he had made “G.I. Joe hump Rainbow Brite." Ward tells him that he did. Watch then tells him that Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. looks like G.I. Joe and Rainbow Brite’s child.

Inside the Monarch’s cocoon fortress, the Monarch watches his view screen as Dr. Jonas Venture Jr.’s Ventronic moves away. The Monarch tells his henchmen at the helm to follow Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch tells the henchmen to belay those orders. The Monarch asks her what she’s doing. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch tells him that she’s sorry but they don’t have any more power to spare, and they don’t even have any weapon online. The Monarch slowly leans toward Dr. Mrs. the Monarch as she talks. He then asks her if she trusts him. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch tells him, in an insecure tone, that she sort of does. The Monarch tells her that it’s now or never and that she has to trust him at this moment. The Monarch then reiterates his command to follow Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. The Monarch sits back on his throne and a henchman tells him that Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. is trying to communicate with him. He tells this henchman to bring him up on the big screen. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. comes up and tells the Monarch that he has been “bested." When Ned interrupts him and appears on the view screen yelling out “butterfly." Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells Ned he knows and that he’s wearing a bitterly costume, he’ll handle it. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. then continues to say what he was saying to the Monarch, he first apologizes for Ned interrupting because they like to let Ned make his own decisions. The Monarch tells him that he hopes Ned can decide to kiss his ass goodbye. He then taunts Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. about playing right unto his trap and tells him that they are all about to die. The Monarch orders his henchmen to fire the lightning cannon. The Monarch ducks out, hiding from the view screen's camera and indicates to Dr. Mrs. the Monarch to cut the communications with Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. The Monarch calls out to his henchmen attending the engineering station of the Cocoon’s command center, and tells them to jettison the lightning cannon down the port hatch. The Monarch calls out to the navigations staff inside the cocoon to adjust altitude on “x and y” to twenty degrees. The Monarch calls out to Dr. Girlfriend (instead of calling out to her as Dr. Mrs. the Monarch) and tells her to cut all of the external power off. Outside the Cocoon, the lightning canon comes out and begins to charge itself. As it charges itself the cannon falls down into the ocean while it begins to spark and short circuit. The Cocoon then tilts to the side, limping away.

Inside of Ventronic, Pirate Captain asks out loud what just happened to the Monarch’s Cocoon. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that some men are controlled by hatred and that it clouds their senses, and then leads them down the path of ruin. Pirate interprets what Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. said as indirect advice toward Pirate Captain’s past as a pirate. Pirate Captain tells him sarcastically that he should have finished the flying cocoon he was building. Pirate Captain becomes angry, and admits to Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that he used to be a pirate, and that he supposedly understands what Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. was saying to him. Pirate Captain then tells him that if he can’t get over him being an ex-pirate then they will never move forward. Sally cuts in-between their argument, and reminds them that the Monarch is retreating. She also tells them that it isn’t the appropriate time to be arguing. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells her that he agrees with her, and tells the rest of the group to head back to Spider Skull Island to reformulate the strategy. Pirate Captain continues to argue with Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. He tells him that he’s ignoring him. While Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells his Ventronic team to head back to Spider Skull Island.

Back inside the Monarch’s floating Cocoon, the Monarch tells his navigation staff to get his wrecked cocoon back to his lair. He tells Dr. Mrs. the Monarch to get up from the floor where she was laying at. He tells her that he needs to do some modifications to the Cocoon. The Monarch then goes under Dr. Mrs. the Monarch’s throne and starts to do some work on it. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch asks him if he’s going to tell her what he has planned to do with Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. The Monarch asks her if she trusts him. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch awkwardly tells him that she tries to. The Monarch looks at her and asks her to get her chair loose.

Inside Spider Skull Island inside of Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. office, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. is on the phone with an OSI agent. The man from OSI asks Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. if he could help him. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. introduces himself and asks this man to connect him with the branch relating to “arching relations." The man from OSI tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that he has called “OSI dry cleaning and laundry mat” and that he thinks he called the wrong number. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells this man that he’s sure he called the right number. But the man tells him that he’s pretty sure he’s ironing a shirt. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. hangs the phone up and Pirate Captain comes into the room and tells him that there is someone knocking at the front door. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. doesn’t understand who could be knocking at the front door seeing that they live inside an isolated island. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. then tells him that he didn’t even know they had a front door.

Pirate Captain heads to the front door and opens it. Two men wearing black suits are outside the door. One of the two men asks Pirate Captain if he’s Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. Pirate Captain tells him that he isn’t, and that they are probably looking for his boss. The same man in the black suit shoots Pirate Captain. Pirate Captain falls to the ground. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. walks along asks the two men if there was a reason they just darted his employee. The same man tells him that he didn’t see him, and asks Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. if he’s him. The man in the black suit extends his hand to great Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that he is who he is. One of the two men walks into Dr. Jonas Venture Jr.'s house and introduces himself as “Mr. Doe," and then introduces his partner, “Mr. Cardholder” (both men are similarly dressed, although Mr. Doe is wearing green sunglasses). Mr. Cardholder walks into the house and tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that they are sorry for putting Pirate Captain down. Mr. Doe tells him that it was precautionary. Mr. Cardholder tells him that it was a harmless tranquilizer dart, and that he’d understand. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells them that he thinks they are from the OSI seeing that they used the “shoot first, ask questions later” style they used on Pirate Captain. The two men deny being part of the OSI, claiming they’ve never heard of it. Mr. Cardholder asks Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. if he knows that the OSI denies any knowledge of the Guild of Calamitous Intent. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells them that he never mentioned the Guild. Mr. Cardholder tells him that he knows, but that he just did. Mr. Doe tells him that they were just passing by and that they heard that Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. has a “butterfly” problem. Mr. Cardholder tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that they are amateur lepidopterists. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr., confused, asks them if this means they want to see his stamp collection. Mr. Doe tells him that they would, only if they were philatelists. Mr. Cardholder tells him that they aren’t.

Inside Spider Skull Island’s hanger bay, Numbers 1, 21 and 24 come out of Pirate Captain’s Ventronic mobile piece. Number 21 complains about how he feels after coming off from the machine. He tells them that his head is about explode and that he can’t hear well. Number 1 suggests to him that he should do the “valsalva” maneuver. Number 21, assuming what Number 1 had just said was about the mission, turns around and tells Number 1 that they’ll get to business in a moment, but first he wants to take a break. Number 1 wearily tells him that the valsalva maneuver is when you adjust the pressure in your middle ear, like when you swallow or yawn. Number 21 asks him if that really has a name. Number 21 then tells him not to get cozy with them because he’s the guy who doesn’t come back. Number 24, continuing Number 21’s rant, tells Number 1 that he’s the guy who mysteriously shows up, and no one has ever seen before always dies. Number 21 then tells him that since he looks professional he’s going to die on this mission. Number 21 grabs Number 1 and tells him that he would like to tell him about a henchman named Speedy.

Back at Spider Skull Island’s front door, Pirate Captain is getting up after being darted by the two OSI agents. Sally walks in and sees Pirate Captain getting up, grabs him and asks him if he’s all right. Pirate Captain tells her to not to touch him. Sally tells him she’s sorry and tells him that he looked like he needed help. Pirate Captain becomes annoyed with Sally, and tells her that “the pirate has become a disappointment and that he can’t do anything for himself.” Pirate Captain asks her why she’s such a bitch. Sally asks him what has come over him. Pirate Captain tells her that it’s the “sweet tranquilizer dart” that got into him. Pirate Captain then tells Sally to leave because it’s her who is always trying to bring him down. Sally walks away. Pirate Captain then yells out to her and rudely tells her to bring him a sandwich.

Inside Dr. Jonas Venture Jr.'s office, Mr. Cardholder is sitting on Dr. Jonas Venture Jr.'s chair while Mr. Doe is sitting on the desk. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. is sitting on a chair the opposite side of the table. Mr. Cardholder and Mr. Doe tell Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that the Monarch has killed his last five archenemies, and that it sounds like the Monarch has violated a few rules in doing so. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. asks them what he should do now, seeing that he has no experience with unhinged and incompetent archenemies. The two OSI operatives recommend to Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that he should kill the Monarch for good. They tell him that they've hired an exterminator, a specialist who is coming to the island. Ned comes into the room talking about men with wings, but Mr. Cardholder shoots at him with a tranquilizer gun. The dart fails to penetrate Ned’s skin. Both OSI operatives notice this and start to rant and make fun over Ned’s expense. Ned notices the two OSI agent wearing hats and tells them he likes these funny hats, then starts to clap. Mr. Cardholder states that Ned’s eyes are probably vulnerable to his tranquilizer gun and starts to aim at Ned’s eye. Mr. Doe tells him to lower his gun, seeing that Ned is “daffy." Brock then walks in and Ned calls him friend. Mr. Cardholder tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that their exterminator has arrived. Pirate Captain comes running in, telling the two OSI agents that he’s not supposed to be in there. He then indicates to the two men that he wants them to deliberately shoot him with tranquilizer darts again. Mr. Cardholder shoots him again, and Pirate Captain falls down.

Still inside Dr. Jonas Venture Jr.'s, Brock tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that he understands that he wants to kill the Monarch. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that it seems like this is the sporting thing to do. Brock asks him if he wants him to shoot him, steal all his stuff or kill his wife. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that it’s an antiquated system, seeing that his late father did arching in the 1960s. He continues to say that he thinks that his brother is good with these kinds of situations but that he himself isn’t. Brock then lights up a cigarette and tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that it isn’t so easy to arch or kill a villain. Brock continues to explain that these villains like their system, because that is what they do the best. Brock then says that if someone takes away their system of arching, they begin to lose control. Brock then starts to rant about a specific situation where a villain had gone out of control. Both OSI agents remember the situation and tell each other that they like Brock’s style and haircut. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells Brock he understands. He then suggests keeping the situation traditional. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. says that the Monarch has apparently broken a few rules. Both OSI agents correct Dr. Jonas Venture Jr.'s selection of words and say that the Monarch has broken many other things other than rules. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. suggests putting a big show for the Monarch, something like his late father would have done. He says everyone would be happy about this. Mr. Cardholder tells him that everyone would be happy other than the Monarch. Mr. Doe asks Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. what he had in mind to do.

Inside the Monarch’s Cocoon, henchmen are at work fixing things around. One henchman in particular is adjusting the Monarch’s throne. The Monarch comes by and sits on it. The Monarch tells this henchman that he’s going to fall off it, and tells him to use nails or glue as a substitute for the time being. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch comes over holding the Guild’s handbook. The Monarch asks her to tell him what she found. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch starts to read off the handbook the following: “If a protagonist’s aggression exceeds level eight, the antagonist, in case of survival or escape, is granted extended vengeance. This includes Guild-sanctioned immediate relatives.” The Monarch’s interpretation of what Dr. Mrs. the Monarch just read is that he thinks all he has to do is stay alive after a life-threatening event caused by Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. and that he can then arch Dr. Rusty Venture once again. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch, as she attempts to sit down, tells him that since Dr. Rusty Venture is a Guild-sectioned relative. Before she can finish, Dr. Mrs. the Monarch falls down her throne that was just put onto place by another henchmen doing work on the control room. The Monarch, not noticing his wife had just fallen down, leaps up in joy and declares that he will finally have his vengeance on Dr. Venture. The Monarch then notices Dr. Mrs. the Monarch lying on the floor and asks his henchmen who had broken “his wife."

Somewhere inside Spider Skull Island, Number 1, 21, and 24 are swimming underneath the Island. They all reach a small opening near a wall, but only Number 1 continues to go inside, while Number 21 and 24 go back up to the surface. Number 1 notices this and goes to find them. Back on the surface, Number 1 asks Numbers 21 and 24 what they are doing. Number 24 tells him that they are cold. Both Numbers 21 and 24 complain and ask him if they can finish this mission soon. Number 21 tells him that he swallowed a lot of water. Number 1 tells them that the tunnel they were about to go inside of leads directly to the Island’s main room. He then tells both Numbers 21 and 24 to take in a deep breath because he isn’t sure how long the tunnel is. Number 24 tells him that he doesn’t want to, because he says he got “freaked out when he had to do the same thing while playing Tomb Raider." Number 21 continues Number 24’s rant about the video game and tells him that the protagonist in Tomb Raider did a weird drowning motion inside the game in a similar situation. Both Number 21 and 24 neglect to go inside the tunnel with him. Number 1 tells them that they have to do it, seeing that this is the only way to get inside the main room without being detected, so they can therefore do the S 7 maneuver the Monarch asked them to do. Both Numbers 21 and 24 begin to walk away as they get up from the water area of the island. Number 1 then tells them if they won’t go with him, then he’ll have to complete the mission alone. Number 1 takes in a deep breath, but as he does Number 24 tells him that that is the main reason all the new henchmen always dies. Number 24 tells Number 1 that he is too into the henching game, and continues to wonder what kind of a person would blindly swim inside a tunnel alone. Number 1 then gets out of the water and heads toward them. As Number 1 gets on land, he asks them what they should do. Number 21 points in a direction and tells him that they are going toward the direction he’s pointing at. Number 1 takes out a gadget he had on his belt and tells them that it isn’t the best route. Number 21 then asks the people in the room, which only are Numbers 1, 21, and 24, to raise their hands if they peed in the water. Both Number 21 and 24 raise their hand. After this, both Number 21 and 24 walk away. Number 1, after looking at the water, tells them that he thinks he could walk with them.

Somewhere inside Spider Skull Island, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. shows his guests one of his predecessor‘s inventions, a large laser. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells them that it used to be owed by the villain named Scaramantula, and that he only used it on Sundays after going to church. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells them that he’s been waiting to try it. Brock becomes impressed by this “death ray” and starts to showcase it as though he knows everything about it. The two OSI agents seem to be impressed as well, going as far to say they would hypothetically marry it. Brock then continues his analysis of the laser, asking what the gyroscopic position is. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. him that it’s in six points. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. then tells Brock that the laser, when in position, comes out of the island’s skull. Brock is very impressed by it.

Inside the museum area of Spider Skull Island, Numbers 21 and 24 are talking about the museum while Number 1 attempts to work on a control panel on the wall. Number 24 tells Number 21 that he didn’t know that there was a museum about Dr. Jonas Venture Sr. inside the island. Numbers 21 tells him that he thinks the museum is awesome, and asks him if he believes if there are rides like in a theme park. Number 1, still working on the electrical panel on a wall, interrupts Number 21 and 24’s conversation and asks them if they have an extra “electro patch." Number 24 tells him that they don’t, because they don’t use their utility belts anymore. Number 24 calls the belts “dorky," and compares them to “fanny packs” for henchmen. Number continues to say that the utility belts make him look fatter. Number 24 sarcastically tells Number 21 to keep blaming his weight problem on the belts. Number 1 sarcastically tells both Numbers 21 and 24 that they believe he’s going to die, and he carries his entire complement of utilities. Number 24 mocks him, saying Number 1 talks will get electrocuted. Number 1 tells them that he isn’t going to die, and asks them to stop bothering him about this. Number 24 continues to taunt Number 1, telling him that he’s going to grab a bomb at the same moment it explodes. Number 1 again tells them that he isn’t going to die. Number 21 continues Number 24’s taunting of Number 1, and tells him jokingly that a snake is going to surprise him and jump on him and bite his eye. Number 1, even more frustrated over the two other henchmen bothering him, tells them to stop. He then covers the panel he was working on and tells them that he’s finished working on it. Number 1 then asks them rhetorically if they now know what the “Dark S 7” maneuver is. Number 24, looking a Number 1 with a confused look on his face, ask him if they really do know.

Inside the Cocoon, the Monarch and Dr. Mrs. the Monarch are sitting on their respective thrones. The Monarch, as he looks at his Cocoon, tells Dr. Mrs. the Monarch that he’s good at rebuilding his Cocoon, and tells her that it looks just as it should. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch tells her that she agrees with him, but tells him that it looks good only if they don’t turn their head. Just as Dr. Mrs. the Monarch finishes talking, Number 1’s voice is heard via radio communication. Number 1 tells the Monarch that the “S 7” maneuver is complete. After Number 1 tells this to the Monarch, the Monarch becomes surprised that they accomplished their mission so quickly. The Monarch tells his other henchmen to engage the “Capricorn “device, and then to call Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. and to put him the big screen. But just as one of his henchmen comes up with a small TV, he notices this and corrects himself, and wearily tells the henchman to put him on the “small screen." The same henchman runs off and tells the Monarch that he’s going to hail Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. in a moment. [Inside Spider Skull Island, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. is receiving the Monarch’s hail] Dr. Jonas Venture Jr., sitting on a chair that has a monitor pointing at him, receives the Monarch’s hail. The Monarch asks him if Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. thought he had ridden himself of his enemy. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that he didn’t and that he was hoping that he would hear from him again. The camera pans out and reveals Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. sitting on the main controls of the laser beam gun. The Monarch asks Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. if he was hoping for him to race his newly built Cocoon toward his island. The Monarch then laughs. Brock, at another control panel, tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that the Monarch’s Cocoon is flying toward the island at high speed, and also tells them that he didn’t know the Monarch’s Cocoon could travel this fast. The Monarch tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that he should say goodbye to this world, and that he might as well make a list of questions to ask his late father to. The Monarch then laughs again, and his communication to the island is terminated. [Back inside where the Monarch was broadcasting] The Monarch asks Dr. Mrs. the Monarch if she understood the joke he just said to Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch tells her that it was a bit vague. The Monarch then explains to her that he meant Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. will be joining his dead father soon in Hell. The Monarch then becomes upset over not adding the “Hell” line into the joke. Dr. Mrs. the Monarch tells him that she liked what he should have said more.

Inside Spider Skull Island’s laser room, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells his colleagues a clichéd expression on how the Monarch is about to fall into a trap. The two OSI agents tell him that it wasn’t a good comparison and that it was too confusing. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells them that it was his first try at saying something like that, and that he now finds the arching business somewhat exciting. Brock then asks him if what he just said means that he would like to fire the laser canon. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that it does. Brock asks him if he has any experience using a “death ray," because death rays can kill. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. asks Brock if he’s jealous of him having a death ray. Brock tells him that he sort of is. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him “tough tiddlywinks," and orders the two OSI agents to turn the death ray on. The two OSI agents press buttons and levers and the machine begins to activate and glow.

Inside the museum area of the island, Numbers 1, 21 and 24 are walking in a hallway. Number 1 pushes both Numbers 21 and 24 to stop walking, and crouches down to the floor. He then tells them that the floor is “laser trip wired," and that they have to find another way out. Number 24 tells him that he can find another way on top of a shark tank. Number 21 tells him that he can go wherever he wants to die, but they will be going the same way they were heading before. Number 1 tells them to stop bothering him about his mortality, and that it’s starting to really bother him. Number 21 explains to him that they’ve been on several missions where they were shot at, dipped in acid, and other stuff. Number 24 continues Number 21’s explanation, and tells Number 1 that Brock had hit him with a car before and that he survived. Number 21 tells Number 1 that they can walk around the floor and nothing would happen to them, but all the bad things would happen to Number 1. Number 24 tells him that he’s even nameless to them. Number 1 tells him that he’s called “Number 1." Number 24, still unconvinced, tells him that he is still nameless. Number 1 reveals to them his real name, which is “Scott Hall." Number 24 tells him that giving his name won’t actually help his situation at all. Number 21 tells him that he’s just now the “pathos” character in an unimportant death scene. He cites an example where Number 1 dies on his lap where Number 21 is yelling out Scott’s name as he dies. Number 24 tells him that he had just made his unavoidable death more pathetic. Number 21 then yells out “Fuck it," pushes Number 1 to the side and continues to walk. Number 24 fallows him, then Number 1, who notices them not tripping any alarms, also follows them toward where the supposed “laser trip wired” was located. As they all walk, Number 1 activates the alarm and he exasperatedly yells out “Come on" in disbelief.

Outside of Spider Skull Island, the death ray rises above the island with Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. on it. Brock, inside the island’s control center manning a control panel, tells Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that the Monarch’s Cocoon is quickly approaching them. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that he’s retargeting the death ray. Mr. Cardholder notes that someone had tripped the intruder alert inside the museum. Mr. Doe asks out loud who would actually put a museum inside a hidden island fortress. Brock yells out to Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that there is an intruder inside the museum. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. doesn’t hear him well, and thinks Brock had told him that “Zapruder film is inside the museum.” Brock tells him that that isn’t what he said, and again tells him that there is someone inside the museum. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that he has to be wrong, because the museum is closed on the weekends. Brock tells him that he’ll check out who the intruders are, but asks Jonas Jr. if he wants to do it first so that he can shoot the death ray for him. Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. tells him that there is no chance he’s going to let him use it.

Inside the museum area of the island, Brock walks in on Number 1 using one of his gadgets. Number 1, after he notices Brock enter, uses his grappling gun to ascend to the ceiling and runs off on a catwalk. Brock immediately follows him up a to get to him. Number 21 and 24 are hiding in between some old cutouts of the original Team Venture. They are posing as if they were cutouts themselves. When Brock finally leaves, both Number 21 and 24 relax themselves. Number 24 tells Number 21 that he always wanted to do that, but the opportunity never came up. Number 21 tells him that Number 1 missed out on the greatest deceptive cliché in history. He continues to say that it’s good that he’s going to be killed by Brock, because it’s a great way for a henchman to be killed off. Pirate Captain, sitting down on a display about pirates, asks Numbers 21 and 24 if they are henchmen. Number 24 are startled over Pirate Captain talking to them, and says that he’s real and not a cutout. Pirate Captain tells him that he use to be real. He then asks them if they carry dart guns with them. Number 21 tells them that they do, and that their ammo is tranquilizer darts. He then asks Pirate Captain if he’s going to tell on them. Pirate Captain tells them that he won’t unless they give him a “hit of dart." Number 21, confused, asks him if he wants them to shoot him intentionally with a dart. Pirate Captain tells them that he has a “dart monkey” on his back. He continues to beg them for one shot of the tranquilizer dart, and promises that he'll quit after this last one, and will never take one in the future. Number 24 tells him that they will, and also tells him that it’s creepy for him to do this. Pirate Captain asks them to shoot him on the neck. Both Numbers 21 and 24 point their dart guns toward his neck and shoot them simultaneously into his neck. Pirate Captain, as he gets high, tells them that it’s like being sucked by an angel. Pirate Captain falls to the ground, on top of a cutout of a woman with large breast.

On top of the catwalk, Number 1 runs away from Brock. He then takes out his dart gun, and begins to shoot at Brock. Brock dodges all of his darts and continues to chase him.

On top of Spider Skull Island, Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. prepares to fire his death ray.

Inside the Cocoon, the Monarch tells his henchmen to be prepared to light something up on his command.

Mr. Doe yells out to Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. that the Monarch’s Cocoon is almost on his position.

Somewhere inside the island, Number 1 does an acrobatic maneuver and throws a pair of bolas at Brock. Brock dodges it and grabs, then throws it back to Number 1.

The death ray begins to charge itself as Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. prepares to fire it.

Inside where the Monarch and Dr. Mrs. the Monarch are located, both yell out to their henchmen to carry out the plan.

The pair of bolas hits Number 1 on the neck, forcing him to the ground, and choking him.

Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. fires his death ray, and an enormous beam of light comes off from it.

Brock lifts up Number 1 and begins to punch him senseless on the face multiple times.

The Monarch’s Cocoon flies into the beam and is stroked by it. The Cocoon explodes.

[END CREDITS]

Both Monarch henchmen 21 and 24 are sitting at a small docking bay on the outer part of the island. Number 21 tells Number 24 that it seems that they are retired again. Number 24 complains to Number 21, that since the demise of the Monarch and his Cocoon, he’s going to have to move back with his parents again. As Number 24 finishes speaking, Number 21 receives a communication from the Monarch for both henchmen. The Monarch tells them to prepare for pickup at “drop point Alpha 7." Number 21 realizes who was speaking to him and tells him that he thought he had died on the explosion. The Monarch explains to them that Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. had shot his death ray beam into a cloud. The Monarch then asks them how they didn’t know this, because he says that they are the ones who had installed the “video surveillance patch” inside the island. Number 21 asks the Monarch if that was what the Dark S 7 maneuver was. [Inside the Monarch’s hide out, where his cocoon’s throne is]. The Monarch, putting his palm to his face, tells them that he hates that Numbers 21 and 24 are his best henchmen. The Monarch walks outside his throne room to reveals that he was actually filming everything on a set with TV cameras and lighting equipment all installed inside the room in his mansion. The sets also include a miniature Cocoon setting on a string which is lit on fire. Some of his other henchmen are attending these props and stage gadgets. The Monarch then asks them what happened to Number 1. Number 21 tells him that Number 1 died at the hands of Brock Sampson. The Monarch tells him that it’s all right, and that they will raid the Venture Compound at dawn the next day. [Back at the docking bay inside Spider Skull island]. Number 21 tells him that his plan is great, and finishes his conversation with the Monarch. He then turns off the radio and puts it back inside his belt’s holder. Number 24 asks Number 21 if this means they saved the day. Number 21 says that he thinks they did. Number 21 then asks him if he knows where drop point Alpha 7 is located at.
