The Battles, Week 3 - Recap

The battle rounds are underway again and for Adam, Christina, Cee-Lo and Blake, there are 12 singers who are going to have to go up against one another. The coaches are going to have to choose which one singer is going to be the best in each pairing. With the battle rounds closing next week, they are going to have to get their final picks for the LIVE shows. They get right away to the Battle rounds.

Adam brings in his team and pairs up Pip and Nathan Parrett to battle. They are going to be singing “You Know I’m No Good” by Amy Winehouse. Adam gets in with the two guys and right away, Nathan feels intimidated. However, Pip is when Nathan shows Adam that he is better then his audition. The next day, Pip gets in to work with Alanis Morrisette and they tell him to stick to the originality to the song and not to worry about the runs. Robin Thicke meets with Nathan and they work with his nerves. They tell him to keep his hands out of his pockets. The night of the battle arrives and Adam says that Nathan is no longer the underdog. Blake says that was real good and says that Nathan has a clear voice, but Pip can do anything. He would choose Pip. Christina says that Pip has more stage experience, but Nathan’s voice commanded its own attention. Cee-Lo says that Nathan took some of her spirit into that song. Adam says that they did an amazing duet and says that Pip is a natural performer and says that Nathan has been a surprise to him. Adam decides to keep Pip.

Cee-Lo talks to his team next and pairs up Erin Martin and “The Shield Brothers”. They are going to be singing “What’s Love Got To Do With It” by Tina Turner. Cee-Lo says that he wants to be entertained with this. They get in with Cee-Lo and he tells them that they are going to Rock it up. Erin is a little cocky and Cee-Lo puts her in her place. The next day, Babyface works with the Shields Brothers. Babyface doesn’t like the first run and tells them to pull back. They get it and they like it. Ne-Yo talks to Erin that he doesn’t believe her and says that he needs to believe her. Cee-Lo says that she needs to be sexy. The night of the battle arrives and they perform. Afterward, Adam says that was so weird and says that Erin took a “unique” approach and maybe a little too much. Blake says that he is glad that she wore that. He says that he would have picked that. Christina says that she loved that and says that it was great. For Erin, she says that she incorporated her stuff, but it was The Shields Brothers were better. Cee-Lo says that it was bizarre and says that he picks Erin Martin because he has the better prospects with.

Christina speaks to her team and says that she is pairing up Ashley De La Rosa and Jonathas. They are going to be singing “No Air” by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown. They get into rehearsals with Christina and Ashley is a little nervous. Jonathas is confident in himself based on the experience that he has over her. Christina says that it is anyone’s game. Jonathas meets with Lionel Richie and Christina. They talk to him about how he needs to show to engage with the female performer. Ashley meets with Jewel and Christina and Christina says that she needs to not be Introverted and Jewel says that Ashley has an opportunity to show originality with her voice. She says that she is ready to give it her all. The battle night come and at rehearsals, Christina sees that Jonathas is mouthing the words of Ashley. She tells them to relax into it. They perform and afterward, Cee-Lo says that it was nicely staged and says that Ashley did a lot better. Adam says that they have chemistry and says that Ashley had a better voice. Blake says that Jonathas has character, but it was only stale. Ashley was the winner to him. Christina says that they both have youthfulness and says that Ashley grew in this. She says that she has to pick Ashley De La Rosa because of her risks that she took.

Blake talks to his team and says that he is pairing up Alyx with Jermaine Paul. “Get Out of My Dreams, Get Into My Car” by Billy Ocean. They get into rehearsals and Alex gets a little intimidated with Jermaine’s talent. Blake says that they need to have a fun. Alyx meets with Miranda Lambert and Blake says that they are going to work through the song. Miranda says that she has a good voice, but needs to let loose and says that she needs to add a little sexiness. Jermaine meets with Kelly Clarkson and they compliment. Jermaine sings for her and she is shocked and says that he can sing for her anytime. Blake says that Jermaine doesn’t want to underestimate Alyx. The night of the battle arrives and they come out and sing. Afterward, Christina says that Jermaine made that song his own. Cee-Lo says that Jermaine had confidence and says that it was great. Adam says that Jermaine says that it was great. Blake says that Alyx did an awesome job with the song, but has to go with Jermaine Paul.

Adam tells Angel Taylor and Katrina Parker are going to be paired up. They are going to be singing“Bleeding Love” by Liona Lewis. They meet with Adam and he tells them that he wants the tone to come through and says that they don’t want to oversing. Angel goes into meet Robin Thicke and Adam says that she needs to not go too hard with it because she is a little pitchy. Robin says that he wants to see the passion. Katrina meets with Alanis Morisette. Adam loves her voice. They tell her to take the nerves and take it out. The night of the battles arrives and they come out and sing. Afterward, Blake says that Angel has a unique voice, but Katrina flat out won this round. Christina says that Katrina says that she has an interesting tone and says that she is a multi-level singer and reminds her of Adel. Cee-Lo says that Angel’s body language was weird. Adam says that they are both great. He says that he has to pick Katrina Parker.

Last of the night, Blake says that he is going to pair up Gwen Sebastian and Erin Willett. They are going to sing “We Belong” by Pat Benatar. They meet with Blake to separate the parts. The next day, Gwen meets with Miranda Lambert. She tells Gwen that she is going to please the crowd and says that she is very thoughtful for the other performer. Erin meets with Kelly Clarkson and she is excited that she gets to be mentored by Kelly. She tells that Erin is she needs to pick her moments when she goes big. Later, Erin gets news that her father has 24 hours to live. Blake says that it is tough and he knows that her father wants her to be there. The night of the battle arrives and they come out and sing. Afterward, Christina says that they both have different voices and says that Erin was more of a powerhouse. Cee-Lo says that Erin has a strait way of singing, but Gwen sold her. Adam says that the richness of Erin’s voice drew him in. Blake says that he loved the chances that Gwen was taking. He says that he has to go with Erin Willett. Next week the battles end!
