The Blind Auditions, Part 3 - Recap

The Blind Auditions continue as coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher make their way for another round to try to get their teams of 12 full. With a recording contract with Universal Music group, the contestants have a lot riding. Usher tells Shakira that he has been working on his Spanish.

First up for the night is “The Swon Brothers” from Muskogee, OK. They say that they went to every recording label in Nashville and were turned away. They say that this is their moment. They come out and sing “American Girl”. Blake and Shakira turn around. Usher turns around. Blake says that he was born in Oklahoma and says that he is a fan. Usher says that he can help him get to Disneyland. Shakira says that she likes she could give them a fresh perspective and have fun. They go with Blake as their coach.

Next up is Taylor Beckham (17) from Dallas, TX. She sings R&B with Jazz. She says that she was a gymnast from 6-12 years and was training to be an Olympian. However, it was not her dream anymore. She comes out and sings “I’m Going Down”. Usher turns around. Shakira turns around. Afterwards, Usher says that she had the passion and dedication to the song. He loves that she loves R&B. Shakira says that she was a gymnast too when she was younger and says that she would love her on her team. Usher says that it will be an incredible journey. Adam says that Usher put his leg down and that means that he likes her. Shakira says that she was once in her position and she has the tips for her. Taylor eventually decides to go with Usher.

Up next is Sam Alves (23) from Fortaleza, Brazil. He says that he was dropped off in a box at a doorstep and his parents took him in. He wants to be able to support her when she can’t work anymore. He comes out and sings “Feeling Good”. He tries his hardest, but no one turns around. Usher says that is one of his favorite song and is critical about with that. Shakira speaks Portuguese and tells him that he has a good voice. Adam says that it is easy to go off pitch with that. Shakira gives him a hug and kiss and tells him that he did a good job.

Next is Karina Inglesias (35) from Miami, FL. She says that she works for a music school. She says that she used to sing at church together with her grandma until her grandmother lost her singing voice. She comes out and sings “I’m The Only One”. At the end, Adam and Blake turn around. Afterwards, Blake doesn’t understand her name and Shakira gets upset with herself that she didn’t turn around for her. Adam ties to speak and Shakira speaks over him. He says Shut-Up in Spanish and hugs Shakira. Adam tells Karina that he was comparing her to Melissa Etheridge and says that she was great. Blake says that it was so much power and says that it was great. Karina chooses Adam as her coach.

Up next is Garrett Gardner (17) from Ringwood, NJ. He is back for another chance at the Voice and says that last time he was trying to impress his father, but now he needs to do this for him. He comes out and sings “Seven Nation Army”. Shakira turns around. Afterwards, Adam recognizes him and says that he is happy that he is through. He says that his dad is a proud papa. Blake says that he did it and says that he is that much better. Usher says that he came, he conquered and came back. Adam says that he is lucky to be on Shakira’s team. Garrett thanks Blake for the criticism. He joins Shakira’s team.

The talent keeps coming as J’Sun’s rendition of “For The First Time” also gets on Team Shakira, Duncan Kamakana’s version of “Home” lands him on Team Adam and Chelsea M’s version of “Take A Bow” gets her on Team Usher.

Next up is Holly Tucker (19) from Waco, TX. She is in a marching band, but she loves Country music more. She says that she sings with her family and says that she is ready to go solo. She comes out and sings “To Make You Feel My Love”. Adam, Shakira and Usher turn around. Blake turns around. Afterwards, Adam says that they are going to have to fight Blake now. He says that she is so good and says that he wants to worship her. Usher says that it is good to make the right move and says that he can help her out. He says that he started singing in the church too. Shakira says that she would love to have her on her team. Adam says that Blake was the last one. He says that he is passionate. Blake says that Country Music is nothing to experiment with and says that she knows the right decision is. She eventually goes with Blake.

However, not everyone can make a team as Sonika Vaid’s “Give Your Heart A Break”, Shane Simon’s version of “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” and Joistarr’s version of “Wide Awake” don’t make the cut. They are told that they have some refinement to do and that their voice was almost there.

Up next is Landon Medvec (20) from Rosemount, MN. He is a professional mover, but would love to have music be his job. He says that he has a lot ridding on this and says that this is all that he has. He comes out and sings “You Give Me Something”. He tries his hardest, but no chairs turn around. Blake and Usher are shocked that he is a guy. Adam says that it was good, but felt that he was trying to fight not sounding like the original artist.

Next up is Michelle Chamuel (26) from Amherst, MA. She says that music has allowed her to come out more and says that this is a little terrifying. She says that this would give her the opportunity to share her music. She comes out and sings “I Kissed A Girl”. Adam turns around. Shakira turns around. Usher turns around. Afterwards, Shakira says that she loved her voice and says that she was fierce. She says that she would love to work with her. Adam says that she looks cute, but when she sings, she looks like she is going to stomp the Earth. Usher says that he would love to work with her because this is his first time. Adam says that he will guide her. Usher says that he will hold her hand. Shakira says that she will give her all. Michelle eventually goes with Usher.

Up next is Julie Roberts (33) from Nashville, TN. She was working at a label and got a record deal. She says that she lost the label and her house in the flood. She was diagnosed with MS and says that she can get help with this show. She comes out and sings “God Gave Me You”. She tries her hardest, but no one turns around. Afterwards, Blake feels bad and says that he recognizes her. Usher says that she needs to continue to be passionate with what she does.

Next up is Monique Abbadie (20) from Miami, FL. She says that she was on a Spanish show for six years. She says that she works for her dad, but she wants to get out of that. She comes out and sings “Loca”. Blake turns around. Shakira, Usher and Adam turns around. Afterwards, Usher tries to steal, but Shakira says that she has this. Usher says that it is all about who wins and hopes that she will choose him. Adam says that the rhythmic tone was great. Blake says that he pushed the button first. He says that he is not fighting. Adam says that he would love to work with her, but knows that she should pick Shakira. Monique chooses Shakira.

Last up for the night is Warren Stone (31) from Hannah, SC. He is a fireman and says that he was in a band, and he is a full time dad too. He says that he wants to give back. He comes out and sings “Colder Weather”. Adam turns around. Shakira turns around. Blake turns around. Afterwards, Adam says that Blake is a Country man, but he is ignited with his voice. Blake says that he is part of the community that he is going to try to get into. He says that there is a ease in his voice and says that he is a storyteller. Shakira says that it moved her when she saw that he was lost in the song. She says that he should pick her. Adam says that he knew after a few notes. Warren decides to go with Adam. Everyone is shocked that Adam stole a Country artist from Blake. That’s it for round 3 of the Blind Auditions!
