Recap

The episode begins in flashback, where Lori is shown confiding in a female friend that she and Rick had a big fight the night before. The friend asks Lori if she still loves Rick. Lori from the looks of it clearly isn't sure. Suddenly, Shane pulls up with some bad news; Rick it turns out has been hurt. He is in surgery. Lori on hearing this tries her best to keep herself together, just then the school bell rings. Carl then emerges from the school and Lori breaks the news to the boy, who immediately begins to cry on hearing this tragic news. They then embrace, looking visibly distraught. Back in the present day Rick runs, carrying a seemingly lifeless Carl in his arms. ..

Episode Quotes
Dale: How are you feeling. T-Dog? I asked you how you were feeling just now, please don't blow that question off.
T-Dog: It really, really hurts. It's throbbing something awful. (Dale checks his wound) Ow, don't touch it.
Dale: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Listen, your veins are very discoloured. You got a hell of an infection there. You could die from blood poisoning.
T-Dog: (laughs) Oh, man. Wouldn't that be the way? World gone to hell, the dead risen up to eat the living and Theodore Douglas is done here by a cut on his arm.

Hershel: Do you know his blood type?
Rick: A+, the same as mine.
Hershel: That's fortunate. Don't wander far, I'm going to need you. What happened?
Otis: I was tracking a buck...bullet went through it...went clean through.
Hershel: The deer slowed the bullet down, which certainly saved his life, but it did not go through clean. It broke up into pieces. I can get the bullet fragments out, I count six.

Lori: Otis, the idiot who shot my son.
Hershel: Ma'am, it was an accident.
Lori: I'll take that under advisement later, for now he is the idiot who shot our son.

Rick: (outside the room Carl is in) Should be me in there.
Shane: You been there, partner, right? But you pulled through, and so will he.
Rick: Is that why I got out of that hospital, found my family, for it to end here, like this? Is this some sort of sick joke?
Shane: You stop it, just stop.

Andrea: We're all hoping and praying with you, for what it's worth.
Daryl: I'll tell you what it's worth, not a damn thing. It's a waste of damn time, all this hopin' and prayin'. We're going to locate that little girl, and she's gonna be just fine. Am I the only one Zen around here? Good lord.

T-Dog: I'm talking about two good ole' boy cowboy sheriffs and a redneck whose brother cut off his own hand because I dropped a key. Who in that scenario is the first that's gonna be lynched.
Dale: You can't be serious. Am I missing something? Those two cowboys have done alright by us and if I'm not mistaken that redneck went out of his way to save your ass more than once.

Episode Goofs
Factual Error:

When the group is discussing their current situation the time of day is supposed to be dusk, around 7:00 or 7:30 pm, but the length of Daryl's shadow is too short for this time of day. This suggests that it was more likely around 3:00 or 4:00 pm.

Cultural References
Breaking Bad: The crystal meth found in Daryl's bag of drugs is blue, like that on 'Breaking Bad.'

'Breaking Bad' is another show on AMC revolving around the life of a man who makes and sells meth, that is blue due to its high purity.

Zorro: Glenn tells Dale that "this chick rode out of nowhere, like Zorro on a horse" while talking about Maggie.

'Zorro' is a fictional character created in 1919 that is the star of many films, books and television series'.
