The scene opens with Randall sitting inside the barn with his hands tied behind his back. Daryl "interrogates" the young man by punching him repeatedly in the face. Daryl wants information on the men that Randall was running with. Crying and pleading, Randall says the men had "heavy stuff" in terms of ammo. They also had women and kids in their roving community. Randall then says that he isn't like the other men in the group, which had raped two young teenage girls. Horrified, Daryl kicks Randall in the face once more for good measure. Later, Daryl returns to camp and shares news: 30 men with heavy artillery and no sympathy for women...

Spoilers: This episode marks the death of Dale.

Casting: Jeffrey DeMunn (Dale) asked to be written out of the show, but after filming his final scenes he had a change of heart. The crew decided it was too late, and expensive, to re-do the episode.

Trivia: Dale was originally supposed to be finding one of the members of the group dead in the field, but it was changed to a cow.

Special Effects: Greg Nicotero used real cow entrails that he bought from a butcher shop to film the scene with the walker and the cow.

Episode Quotes
Randall: (As Daryl is punching him) I already told you!
Daryl: You ain't told me shit.
Randall: I barely even knew those guys, I met them on the road.
Daryl: How many in your group?
Randall: Uh...
(Daryl pulls out a knife)
Randall: No, no, no, come on man.
Daryl: How many?
Randall: Uh, thirty. Thirty, thirty guys!
Daryl: Where?
Randall: I don't know, I swear! We were never any place more than a night.

Shane: What's up Dale?
Dale: I want to change your mind.
Shane: You serious?
Dale: You and I will never see much eye to eye on much.
Shane: Say that'd be the understatement of the year.
Dale: But aren't going anywhere.
Shane: No.
Dale: And I'm not going anywhere. So let us talk about this like men.

Lori: Rick, what are you going to do?
Rick: We have no choice, he's a threat. We have to eliminate the threat.
Dale: You're just going to kill him?
Rick: It's settled, we'll do it today.
Dale: You can't do this. You don't want to do this, I know you don't.
Rick: I thought about it all night, knowing what we know now, I don't see a way out of it.
Dale: But you can't just decide on your own to take someone's life.
Rick: The group seems supportive.
Dale: Because they didn't speak back, you wouldn't let them.

Andrea: You really want to debate about saving a guy who will lead his buddies right to our door?
Dale: That's what a civilized society does.
Andrea: Who say's we're civilized any more.
Dale: The world we know is gone, but keeping our humanity? That's a choice.

Carol: You know, we'll see Sophia again in heaven some day. She's in a better place.
Carl: No she's not. Heaven is just another lie, and if you believe it, you're an idiot.

Episode Goofs
Plot Hole:

When the walker attacks Dale in the field he appears to come out of nowhere. As Dale walks up to the cow there is no one around him and there is enough moonlight that you can see well. Walkers make noise and there is no way it could have sneaked up on Dale in the mere seconds he was distracted by the cow.
