The scene opens and Walkers munch on a bloody corpse when they are suddenly distracted by a helicopter flying above. They rise in unison and shamble toward the noise. Later, we see the horde wandering down the highway through an open field. There are hundreds of them. The walkers are momentarily stopped by a wooden fence, but their sheer numbers eventually produce enough pressure to push them through. It is night now and a shot rings out -- the shot that killed Shane. The walkers turn toward Hershel's farm. Inside the house, the group is worried. Where are the men? Daryl and Glenn return first. Lori pleads with them to go back out and find Rick and Shane. Meanwhile, Rick and Carl walk back to the house. "What happened?" Carl asks. "Were you guys attacked? How did Shane die?" ..Read the full recap

Location: The final scene of this episode was filmed at Elders Mill Road in Senoia, GA.
Casting: Jeffrey DeMunn and Jon Bernthal remain listed in the credits for this episode even though they do not appear and their characters have been killed off.
Trivia: All of the extras playing walkers for this episode were given 'Snuggies' to wear between takes because it was so cold outside.
Special Effects: The steam from breathing, because it was so cold out, had to be edited out using CGI from each individual walker after shooting because walkers do not breathe.
This episode marks the first appearance of Michonne. However, the role had not been cast at this point, so the character is portrayed here by a stand-in with their face hidden.
Hershel: Rick. You've got to get your boy to safety. I'll wait here for my girls and the others. I know a few places. We'll meet up at one of them later.
Rick: Where? Where is safe? We're not splitting up.
Hershel: Please, keep your boy safe. I'll hide in one of the cars. If a Walker gets me, so be it. I've lost my farm. I've lost my wife and maybe my daughters.
Rick: You don't know that. They'll be here.
Hershel: And you don't know that.
Rick: You’re a man of God. Have some faith.
Hershel: I can’t profess to understand God’s plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something... a little different in mind.
Maggie: I'm not sitting here, waiting for another herd to blow through. We need to move, now.
Rick: No one is going anywhere.
Carol: Do something.
Rick: I am doing something! I'm keeping this group together, alive. I've been doing that all along, no matter what. I didn't ask for this. I killed my best friend for you people, for Christ's sake!
Carol: We're not safe with him - keeping something like from us. Why do you need him? He's just gonna pull you down.
Daryl: No, Rick's done right by me.
Carol: You're his henchmen and I'm a burden. You deserve better.
Daryl: What do you want?
Carol: A man of honour.
Daryl: Rick has honour.
Carl: I'm freezing.
Lori: We'll build a fire, yeah?
Daryl: You go out looking for firewood, stay close. Only got so many arrows. How you doing on ammo?
Rick: Not enough.
Maggie: We just can't stand around here with our asses hanging out.
Hershel: Watch your mouth. Everyone stop panicking and listen to Rick.
Rick: Where'd you find everyone?
Daryl: Well, those guys' tail lights zigzagging all over the road - figured he had to be Asian, driving like that.
Glenn: Good one.
Rick: We're all infected.
Rick: At the CDC, Jenner told me. Whatever it is, we all carry it.
Carol: And you never said anything?
Rick: Would it have made a difference?
Glenn: You knew this whole time?
Rick: How could I have known for sure? You saw how crazy that mo--
Glenn: That is not your call. Okay, when I found about the Walkers in the barn, I told, for the good of everyone.
Rick: Well, I thought it best that people didn't know.
When Lori threatens to jump from the moving truck, the camera angle shows there is a bend in the road that they just drove over. However, when the camera angle goes wide to show the entire truck, they are driving on a straight road with no bends.
As Rick, Hershel and Carl wait for a walker to pass them, you can see that there is no rear window in their car. A moment later, when they meet up with the rest of the survivors, their car has a rear window again.
When Daryl circles back to the farm to pick up Carol his motorcycle is outfitted with "offroad" tires. Later, when he is on the highway at their meeting point, the tires on his bike have changed to "road" tires.
The sign on the fence on Hershel's property is facing the wrong way. It is facing towards the property, instead of away from it to where trespassers would be able to read it.
As Hershel is being driven away from his farm, he is looking out his back window to watch. He would have easily been able to spot that Andrea was left behind from this position.
Hershel is able to fire over a dozen times with his shotgun without having to reload. Shotguns generally only hold between seven and nine shells when fully loaded.
When Rick shoots a walker that is coming up behind Hershel's head, he blast goes off right near his ear. With a gunshot that close, Hershel should not be able to hear for at least a few minutes, but he is able to hear and respond to Rick's questions immediately.
