Like all good series, the pilot episode sets the tone for the entire course of a series and in this case, it sets the series up perfectly. Every part of the episode was perfect. It introduces viewers to not only the characters, but various aspects of their individual, and sometimes quirky, personalties. It's common for political dramas to be dull and boring, but the plot was full of hysterical moments. But in between laughs, the plot is full of hard-hitting moments, from the Ten Commandments meeting, to Bartlet's monologue about his granddaughter.
All in all, the episode is amazing. One of the best pilot episodes I've seen, and most definitely one of the best episodes of the series. 10 out of 10.
