Recap

Jim is galloping through the forest ahead of a band of angry Iroquois warriors. He finally makes it to Fort Savage and the soldiers close the gates behind him as he rides in. As the Indians ride off, Jim goes to report to the commanding officer, Major Jason. Jason is getting a shave from an enlisted man, Crocker, and seems surprised to see Jim. The agent points out that Jason should have received a letter from President Grant saying he was on his way. The major apologizes, noting that the mail service has been inconsistent since the Iroquois have been attacking. Jim reminds him that the letter was in reference to Jason’s report on Sean O’Reilley, a Canadian revolutionary. When Jason notes that there is no description of O’Reilley, Jim reads him the official description... which matches “Jason”’s description...

Episode Quotes
Sean O'Reilley: It was Vixen here who, uh, reasoned out this ingenious use of the dynamite.
James: Well, what's life without woman's touch?
Sean O'Reilley: What's death without a woman's touch?

Vixen O'Shaugnessy: You are troubled, milord?
Sean O'Reilley: "My mind is troubled like a fountain stirred, and I myself see not the bottom of it."

Vixen O'Shaugnessy: Mr. West, is there no end to your persistence?
James: Well, when you're a man of Homeric destiny...
Vixen O'Shaugnessy: Well, I do hope this is the last time I'll have to live through your destruction. I find it very unnerving.

Sean O'Reilley: Would you like a blindfold, Mr. West?
James: A blindfold?
Sean O'Reilley: It's customary at executions.
James: Execution? Has fortitude no reward, O'Reilley?
Sean O'Reilley: Alas. The right time, the right place.

Artemus: Oh James, James, James. You're always hanging around.
James: It's an occupational hazard. Lately I seem to get tied up in my work.
Artemus: You really should try to get away from it all.

James: Artie, I've had some experience in situations like this. And I've come to the conclusion that they always catch up with us, when we're in a heavily-loaded wagon.
Artemus: Yeah, well, has your experience given you an answer to this ageless problem, Mr. West?
James: Yeah, why yes it has.
Artemus: What's that?
James: Well, if one of us were to stay back heroically with a few sticks of dynamite, the other might just make it to the fort.
Artemus: That's an admirable suggestion. You, you.
James: Me.

Episode Goofs
Just as O'Reilley and his men leave the fort, in the distance beyond a pond, a white car briefly can be seen as it drives by.

At the camp, Jim knocks out Vixen and tosses her in the wagon, and she's wearing a jacket and scarf. Later, Jim knocks her out a second time and tosses her in the wagon. She's not wearing a jacket and scarf when he tosses her in the wagon, but then they use a shot of her from earlier where she is wearing the jacket and scarf.
