In San Francisco at Crown Point, the fishermen sit on the docks while the store owners put out signs saying that they can no longer issue credit. Jim arrives and goes to the Mermaid Tavern. As Jim orders a drink, a bearded fanatic comes up to him and speaks of the coming of Leviathan. The bartender tells the man, Daniel, to get out, but Jim tips the man first. Artie comes in, disguised as a crippled Portuguese fisherman, and sits down next to Jim. He explains that Daniel is a seagoing evangelist and the Portuguese fisherman have been banned from going out by the naval authorities. The agents are there to meet an old friend, Lt. Dave Bartlett, who says that he discovered something that he couldn’t even reveal to Admiral Hammond...

Episode Quotes
Admiral Hammond: Well, I hardly think murder is an accurate description of what happened to Lt. Bartlett.
Artemus: What do you mean by that, sir?
Admiral Hammond: I mean a kraken. A fantastic monster that lives in perpetual darkness, miles below the ocean’s surface. In constant cold under tremendous pressure. As strange and alien creature as you’d properly expect to find on the dark side of the planet Uranus.

Aguila: Señor, I have come more to lift the ban. When you told us to stop fishing, you said it would be one week. Already now it has been more than one month. We must fish to earn money to buy food. My children are hungry.
Admiral Hammond: Better they cry for food then for a dead father, Jose.

Aguila: Hey, a good fight like this works up a good thirst, huh?

Artemus: That book wouldn't by any chance happen to have the names of any of his past dates, would it?
James: No.
Artemus: Some of the girls he used to go out with, maybe?
James: Well, maybe a few.
Artemus: May I see it, please?
James: Artie, look at all the books you own. This is the only one I own.
Artemus: I tell you what I'll do, I'll trade you. How about a book on underseas installations?
James: No.
Artemus: How about a book on underwater diving equipment?
James: Uh-uh. No.
Artemus: How about a book on how you're gonna live to regret it if if you don't let me see that book? (Jim hands it to him, they both laugh) You dog!

Episode Goofs
Despite Aguila says that they are in "many fathoms of water," when Jim is pulled underwater there are aquatic plants directly below the surface.

Slide rulers aren't used or even necessary to calculate scale distances.

When the missile detonates, stock footage of a World War II explosion is used.

Because of this, just before the explosion, World War II ships can be seen.
