Show Tidbits
Julie Hagerty was originally cast as Irene Abbott, Glen's mother, in the Pilot. The character was later recast with Linda Hart and all scenes in the Pilot were reshot with the new actress.

The show was originally under consideration as a series for FOX for the 2002 fall season when it was still known as Becoming Glen. It was originally conceived as a single-camera comedy. The addition of Seth MacFarlane to the show's production resurrected interest in the show in 2005 from CBS, NBC, and FOX, with the show eventually staying with its original network. The show also changed styles to a multi-camera comedy.

When the show was originally cast in 2002 for Becoming Glen, the known cast was listed as follows: Johnny Galecki as Glen Abbott, Samantha Mathis as Alison Miller, Soren Fulton as Josh Miller, Sally Struthers as Irene Abbott, and Gerald McRaney as Ron Abbott. Josh Hutcherson guest-starred as Young Glen.

Prior to its television premiere, the series was available in a variety of ways. On February 16, 2007, the episodes "The Single Dates," "What Happens in Albany, Stays in Albany," "Glen's New Friend," and "Hot for Teacher" premiered uncut on Familyguy.com. On February 20, 2007, the same four episodes were made available via FOX.com, MySpace.com, and the MyFox Local websites. The entire six-episode series was also made available that day for purchase on iTunes. On February 25, 2007, Circuit City customers who bought select 20th Century Fox TV DVDs received a free DVD of two episodes. Finally, throughout the month of March 2007, passengers on Jet Blue air flights were able to watch an episode.
