1 :01x01 - The Target

During the trial of D'Angelo Barksdale, a mid-level dealer accused of murder, the prosecution's star witness takes back her testimony, resulting in a not guilty verdict. After the trial, Detective James "Jimmy" McNulty explains to Judge Phelan how he suspects the Barksdale crew for a slew of related murders. The judge soon contacts McNulty's superiors about this and McNulty is taken to task for his indiscretion. Meanwhile, D'Angelo is free to return to work, but he soon discovers that he's been demoted.

2 :01x02 - The Detail

Carver, Herc and Pryzblewski abuse their authority in the Terrace. Meanwhile, D'Angelo gets an earful from his uncle Avon after his talk with police.

3 :01x03 - The Buys

Bubbles ends up giving Sydnor fashion tips to help him go undercover and score drugs in the projects. The detectives inquiries end up causing a riot and leave a young boy without an eye. D'Angelo decides to teach Bodie and Wallace how to play chess. Greggs reveals something personal to McNulty. Daniels sends his crew on an ill-advised raid in The Towers.

4 :01x04 - Old Cases

Greggs and McNulty desperately try to get Hardcase to turn informant as the arraignment begins for those caught in the raid. Barksdale places a bounty on gang rival, Omar. Meanwhile, McNulty takes Bubbles on a little cultural field trip and Herc and Carver try to track down a now missing Bodie.

5 :01x05 - The Pager

Carver and Herc end up taking Bodie back into custody. Omar notices that his crew is beginning to disappear, one by one, and thinks he knows who is involved. McNulty and Greggs must seek legal approval to get a "clone" of D'Angelo's pager so they can crack the codes on it. Bell begins instructing D'Angelo about training lookouts.

6 :01x06 - The Wire

Brandon's body is discovered in a lot next door Poot and Wallace's house. Wallace gets worried whenAvon rewards him and D'Angelo with some extra money for getting rid of Brandon. Omar, in the meantime, decides to turn state's witness after Brandon's death. Meanwhile, Rawls is once again furious with McNulty for some arrest warrants.

7 :01x07 - One Arrest

After listening in on the wire, Greggs, Herc, Carver and Freamon make a bust, but the incident makes Avon and Stringer very suspicious and they decide it's time to stop dealing in the Pit. Meanwhile, Bunk and McNulty look for another witness in the Gant slaying and hunt a suspect known as "Mr. Bird."

8 :01x08 - Lessons

McNulty decides to play a game with his sons that yields Stringer's license plate number. Greggs and Carver are more than thrilled when the arrest a congressional aide who has some dirty cash on him, but they are quickly told to release him. Omar gets himself into a very violent street encounter with members of the Barksdale crew.

9 :01x09 - Game Day

Avon tries his best to stay one step ahead of a crosstown rival, but it ends up costing him. Herc and Carver end up lightening Wee-Bey's wallet. Freamon, Prez and Sydnor finally trace Barksdale's business interests. Omar makes his presence known again.

10 :01x10 - The Cost

Now that the police have Wallace in their custody , McNulty, Daniels, and Pearlman have to figure out just what they must do with him during the months before he is slated to testify. Sydnor and Carver end up finally tracking down one of Barksdale's stash houses. McNulty's estranged wife takes desperate measures and he ends up getting Pearlman involved, who is not pleased about what she has to do and neither is Elena.

11 :01x11 - The Hunt

After the detail's scheduled drug bust goes wrong, Greggs winds up in intensive care and McNulty blames himself for what happened. The police step up the hunt for Savino, Wee-Bey and Little Man after the shooting. Burrell forces Daniels to produce results that the press will love and will give department some good coverage they desperately need.

12 :01x12 - Cleaning Up

Since the tapped pay phones are on the blink, McNulty and Daniels have to try to listen in by wiring Barksdale's back office at his club. Although the detail does not know it, Wallace goes back to the projects.

13 :01x13 - Sentencing

McNulty, Bunk and Pearlman head to New Jersey to interview D'Angelo. In hopes they can continue the case, Daniels and McNulty have to turn to a higher authority. Brianna Barksdale joins her brother in their new headquarters. Freamon and Bunk finally end up tracing a crucial phone call to their case.

14 :02x01 - Ebb Tide

McNulty makes sure to pay back Rawls for reassigning him to the marine unit by sticking City Homicide with the stone cold whodunit floater he fishes out of the harbor. It's the stevedores versus the police when Sobotka beats out Valchek for the honor of providing a donor-themed stained glass window for the local church. Bodie and Bell take separate business trips. Ziggy makes a fool of himself as Nick negotiates a deal with the Greeks to steal a container from the docks. The Greeks end up reneging on the deal, leaving Russell to discover that the abandoned and broken-sealed container contains the bodies of thirteen women.

15 :02x02 - Collateral Damage

Rawls tries to pawn off the shipyard investigation to another jurisdiction after McNulty sends it his way. Wee-Bey is harassed by a prison guard and tells Avon. Valcheck goes after Sobotka and his union with a little help from above. Bunk, Freamon and Russell end up having to track a container ship to Philadelphia.

16 :02x03 - Hot Shots

Prez sends out a distress signal for a new detail. D'Angelo decides to listen to his uncle's advice. Nick and Ziggy find themselves a new way to supplement their meager salaries. Omar is up to his old tricks. Bunk, Freamon and Russell end up hitting a huge language barrier in the investigation of the container ship.

17 :02x04 - Hard Cases

Daniels organizes a reunion for the old Barksdale detail, but one of the party is not invited. Bubbles stumbles into McNulty's search for Omar. Sobotka speaks to Nick and Ziggy about their container theft. Tighman ends up falling into Avon's new trap.

18 :02x05 - Undertow

Ziggy ends up experiencing a very different kind of car trouble. Russell decides to look up an old acquaintance in her search for info about the docks. Rawls ends up being held responsible for his inferior merchandise.

19 :02x06 - All Prologue

Stringer decides he must spring into action when D'Angelo tells him that he wants to turn over a new leaf while in jail. Nick comes through with the Greek's latest request. Daniels is very skeptical of a new connection in the union probe. McNulty decides that it is time to abandon his quest to identify one of the murder victims.

20 :02x07 - Backwash

Sobotka believes that the port probe is over after a visit from Russell, but the detail is just beginning their job. Pearlman considers a wiretap when she is presented with some surprising new evidence. Rawls tries to convince Daniels to take the murders.

21 :02x08 - Duck and Cover

Bunk begins worrying about McNulty after he reverts to his old, dangerous drunken ways. Sobotka sits down with Vondas and the Greek. Bodie and Poot notice there is a marked decline in their business. Ziggy decides that it is time to back down from Maui.

22 :02x09 - Stray Rounds

After being let back in the detail, McNulty ends up drawing himself a very tough undercover assignment. Ziggy and Johnny 50 try a new scam for The Greek. Valchek blows a gasket when the detail alters from it's target leaving Daniels and Pearlman in the dust. Bodie's business sense needs some fine tuning.

23 :02x10 - Storm Warnings

A very disgusted Valchek decides to turn to the FBI for help with the dock situation. Ziggy's bad luck continues to grow with a new deal regarding Double G. Bodie encounters some mixed emotions about his business's latest upturn. Greggs is having to undergo a major lifestyle change.

24 :02x11 - Bad Dreams

Daniels is disgusted over Landsman's latest blunder. Nick tries to fix his strained relationship with Vondas. Sobotka faces a very difficult decision. After an encounter with the detail, The Greek could be in some major trouble.

25 :02x12 - Port in a Storm

Nick crimes finally catch up with his enemies. He then decides it's time to tell to cooperate with the police after what happened to his uncle. Meanwhile, McNulty and Greggs visit their old stomping grounds and soon discover some important information on their case and Stringer visits Avon in prison and tells him about Mouzone.

26 :03x01 - Time After Time

Baltimore's mayor, Clarence Royce, puts pressure on the Commissioner Burrell to keep the murder rate for the city down. The Barksdale crew eyes some new territory after their public housing projects are demolished. A parolee tries to start over after spending 14 years in prison. McNulty and Greggs are still searching for a way to catch the elusive Stringer Bell.

27 :03x02 - All Due Respect

Omar continues to make bold strikes on Barksdale stash houses. McNulty launches an investigation into the prison suicide of D'Angelo Barksdale.

28 :03x03 - Dead Soldiers

The blown wire tap forces Daniels' detail to turn to a new target and McNulty is not happy about it. Omar and his crew stick up a Barksdale stash house. Cutty struggles to stay on the straight and narrow.

29 :03x04 - Hamsterdam

Greggs learns how Marlo takes care of business. Carcetti reveals his political ambitions. McNulty reconnects with Stringer and disconnects with Rhonda.

30 :03x05 - Straight and True

Colvin tells the dealers about his new policies. Avon gets out of prison. Cutty using his old tricks again. McNulty finds out something about Stringer. Omar faces a major setback.

31 :03x06 - Homecoming

Stringer Bell gets an education in construction management. Bunk delivers a searing message to Omar. Daniels decides he has to keep up the front of marriage to Marla and Pearlman is not to pleased about it.

32 :03x07 - Back Burners

Herc discovers a blast from the past. Omar grapples with guilt. Bunk receives a gift-wrapped surprise that he's been searching for. McNulty, with the help of Prez tracks Terri to Washington D.C.

33 :03x08 - Moral Midgetry

McNulty and Greggs embark on a road trip in search of burners to try and catch Stringer. Carcetti confronts a hurdle in his hopes for an election bid. Marlo appears to take the bait he is shown.

34 :03x09 - Slapstick

McNulty and Prez turn up in the wrong alley and it ends up not being good news for Prez. Cutty finds help in an unlikely ally. Bubbles is wired up. Pearlman and Daniels confront a cell phone company in the hopes of easily gaining a wiretap.

35 :03x10 - Reformation

Brother Mouzone decides to make a return trip to Baltimore. Colvin puts off a reporter when questioned about Amsterdam. Burrell delivers his news to City Hall. Pearlman and Daniels plead their case to the FBI, with little results.

36 :03x11 - Middle Ground

The wire finally reveals what's going on in Barksdale's organization but it proves to be too little too late. Carcetti visits Amsterdam. McNulty finds a piece to his puzzle in a very unsuspected place.

37 :03x12 - Mission Accomplished

McNulty decides it is time to reassess his pursuit of Stringer Bell and what to do with his life. Carcetti realizes that Gray knows about his plans to run for Mayor. Avon gets ready to go to war against Marlo.

38 :04x01 - Boys of Summer

Four West Baltimore teens get a summer education on the streets with school on the horizon. Meanwhile, Councilman Carcetti campaigns for mayor, Prez prepares for his new career as a teacher and Freamon is puzzled by the lack of violence between drug gangs.

39 :04x02 - Soft Eyes

Freamon ruffles a few feathers with a round of subpoenas to VIPs; Herc gets an eyeful behind closed doors at City Hall; Marlo reaches out to the neighborhood kids; Carcetti scores points during a televised debate; Wee-Bey dispenses fatherly advice to Namond.
