Episode Quotes

Narrator: There was a time when the world was enormous, spanning the vast, almost infinite boundaries of ... your neighborhood - the place where you grew up; where you didn't think twice about playing on someone else's lawn ... and the street was your territory that occasionally got invaded by a passing car. It was where you didn't get called home until after it was dark. And all the people, and all the houses that surrounded you were as familiar as the things in your own room. And you knew they would never change.

Narrator/Adult: Thirteen is a crazy age. You're too young to vote and too old not to be in love. You live in a house someone else owns...

Narrator/Adult: Winnie Cooper - the light of my life, the cornerstone of my existence. She was...
Craig Hobson: Cheap, fake, and dependable.
Kevin: What?
Craig Hobson: This. (shows Kevin a ring) I'm giving it to Becky.
Kevin: Why?
Craig Hobson: It's a tradtition. Everybody's gettin' one.
Kevin: How much did you pay for that?
Craig Hobson: Nine bucks.
Paul: Whoa. That's a lot of money.
Craig Hobson: Maybe. But you know what you get for nine bucks?
Kevin: A ring worth two bucks?
Craig Hobson: Insurance. Summer's comin'. This'll keep 'em faithful.

Kevin: Dad, you can't do this!
Jack: Huh?
Kevin: I mean, you haven't even asked us what we think about it!
Jack: I gotta ask permission to get the dry rot fixed?
Kevin: Then you're not selling the house?
Jack: Of course not!
Norma: There. I told you!
Narrator/Adult: And suddenly the skies began to clear.
Norma: So who is this, anyway, Jack?
Narrator/Adult: Suddenly my fears had disappeared. The world was great. We were staying!
Jack: He's gonna be working on Cooper's house after they move out.
Kevin: Huh?
Norma: Jack...
Jack: Uh... sorry.
Norma: The Coopers thought it was best if Winnie told you. They're not moving far, honey. Just a few miles.
Kevin: Oh.
Wayne: You know what the best part is? The Coopster's goin' to a different school next year. Across town.
Looks like bye-bye, butthead.
Jack: Wayne!

Episode Goofs

Craig Hobson says that Winnie is moving to a school where "everybody surfs" but then says that it's only 4 miles away. The town that they are in now is nowhere near a beach so why does everybody surf?
