Howard and Mel are staying with Mel's parents until the cottage is ready. Howard is also having a few problems at work and after giving Eve a lift home events spiral leaving Howard soon feeling the long arm of the law.
After the adventures of the night Howard is excused from the day's special occasion - instead opting to prepare a celebratory meal. With extra company in the shape of Uncle Fraser and problems from work still tugging at Howard's heels, can the evening for once be a pleasant one?
Dick's CBE medal is still missing, and Fraser is convinced somebody has stolen it - announcing he intends to start the search in Howard's room. Eve lets slip about the sexual harassment allegations, while the boyfriend of supposed victim Cordelia turns up to deliver a warning. To stop his father-in-law going to find out how the cottage burned down, Howard is forced to pretend Mel's labour has begun.
The day of Howard's sexual harassment hearing arrives, while Fraser is positive the hapless husband is having a fling with Gerard after catching them in the bathroom the previous evening. Angela is horrified to discover some embarrassing graffiti on the front of the house - and her nerves fray even further when her son-in-law walks in on her during a bikini wax.
Howard helps with the preparations as friends and family begin arriving for Dick's party. As the festivities get into full swing and the special gift is finally secured, things seem to be going well - until there's yet another mishap.
As Mel goes into labour, Howard and Dick slave to get things ready, while the midwife makes a timely entrance. Everybody gets more tense as the night wears on - but there could still be hope at the end of the disastrous week for the parents-to-be.
