Via a new source, Mulder receives a tape of a 911 call made by a man in New York City who said that his Lexington Avenue apartment building was on fire. The apartment buidling, however, had not caught on fire, yet the man had died from internal injuries associated with being burned in a fire. Mulder tries to open a case file on it, but is beaten to the punch by another agent, and his new partner, Alex Krychek.

Episode Quotes |

Mulder: Why are you trying to help me?
Mr. X: You think I want to be here, Agent Mulder? I don’t want to be here. | Scully: Sounds like your new partner's working out.
Mulder: He's all right. He could use a little more seasoning and some wardrobe advice. But he's a lot more open to extreme possibilities than. . .
Scully: Than I was?
Mulder: . . .than I assumed he would be.
Scully: Must be nice not having someone question your every move, poking holes in all your theories.
Mulder: Oh yeah, it's---it's great. I'm surprised I put up with you so long. |
