While Scully is lingering near death and the future of the X-Files in danger, Mulder is brought before Section Chief Blevins to explain the incident that led up to the hearing on his supposed death. When Skinner confronts Mulder, the agent tells his superior the truth about Scully's abduction.

| Mulder: Please tell me you're here with severe chest pains.
Cigarette Smoking Man: You should be glad for why I'm here, pay you some respect.
Mulder: Go to hell.
Cigarette Smoking Man: For your cleverness, and your resource, what you managed to do for Scully.
Mulder: What are you talking about?
Cigarette Smoking Man: Well, breaching the security at the Defense Department Facility. Finding the cure for her disease.
Mulder: What I found was useless.
Cigarette Smoking Man: On the contrary, it's essential to her survival. If you like, we could step outside and I might explain myself? I'm here tonight as a friend, Agent Mulder. |

| When Mulder was entering the Trinity hospital, the clock reads at 5:30 a.m., but later, in the scene it is back to 5:13 a.m. | After Section Chief Blevins is shot by his colleague, he falls to the ground in such a way that his hand is ready to receive the weapon he was shot with. Blevins, who is supposed to be dead, then opens his hand slightly to receive the weapon. After the weapon is placed in his hands, Blevins fingers move a bit to hold the gun. |
