"I can't. I won't.": "The Red and the Black"
At the end of the movie, when Mulder tells Scully to leave him behind and practice medicine full-time, Scully says, "I can't. I won't." These words were used by her in "The Red and the Black" when she tells Mulder that she will not follow him in his new belief that the government is abducting people rather than aliens, which he had long held to be the truth. The events of Fight the Future make Mulder believe once again that extraterrestrials are responsible for the mass abductions, and Scully, who had followed him for five years on this belief, reaffirms her devotion to his cause to reveal the truth behind everything they have been searching for.
