The first set of hopefuls audition in front of the judges hoping to gain a place in the next round of the competition. Mel B is a guest judge on the show this week. Fe Cockton Leckie, Rick Moorehouse, Tasha Leigh and Jahmene Douglas manage to impress the judges and sail through to the next stage of the competition. Zoe Alexander is not so successful though and after she fails to make it through she goes berserk at the judges and storms off stage. When the auditions move on to Manchester, Curtis Golden and Ella Henderson manage to impress.

The second set of hopefuls audition in front of the judges hoping to gain a place in the next round of the competition. Rita Ora and Mel B are guest judges on the show this week. First up in London is Rylan Clark. Rylan fails to impress Gary but still manages to make it through to boot camp. Kye Sones is next up who manages to get a standing ovation from all of the judges following his performance. After the auditions move onto Manchester, Lucy Spraggan manages to impress and sails through to boot camp with her unique audition. The auditions then move onto Newcastle, where Billy Moore fails to impress. More unsuccessful acts follow. James Arthur manages to impress the judges though with his vocal talents.

The third set of hopefuls audition in front of the judges hoping to gain a place in the next round of the competition. Mel B and Anastacia are this week's guest judges. Nicola Marie, Jake Quickenden, Taylor Breslin, Jessica Beckett and Matt Defreitas all manage to impress. Allison Brunton is not so successful though and fails to make it through. Joseph Whelan fairs much better though and manages to impress all of the judges. The auditions move to Glasgow and Anastacia is the guest judge. After some really bad auditions, Melanie Masson manages to wow all the judges with her voice and sails through to boot camp.

The fourth set of hopefuls audition in front of the judges hoping to gain a place in the next round of the competition. Mel B and Geri Halliwell are tonight's guest judges. The auditions begin in Liverpool where the It Girls are first up. They fail to impress though when Gary thinks they can't sing. Gary and Geri clash as more acts fail to impress. Boy band Times Red manage to impress all the judges though and sail through to boot camp. The auditions move on to Birmingham where Mel B returns as guest judge. Megan O'Neill, Tasha Pyne and Cian Morrin manage to impress. Melanie McCabe who made it through to judges houses last year returns to audition again and wows all the judges and sails through to boot camp. The auditions return to Liverpool where the talent dries up and many acts fail to impress the judges. Jason manages to melt Tulisa's heart after giving her rose and singing a Whitney Houston song to her. He also ends up managing to impress the other judges and makes it through to boot camp. Nerves manage to get the better of some of the acts but Christopher Maloney manages to battle through and makes it through to boot camp after giving an outstanding performance.

The fifth set of hopefuls audition in front of the judges hoping to gain a place in the next round of the competition. Leona Lewis is the guest judge this week. Eddy String is first up and he gives the judges an up close perfomance after getting on the judges desk. He manages to impress and makes it though to boot camp. Sixteen year old Amy Mottram is a massive Leona Lewis fan and manages to impress all the judges with her vocal talents. Georgia Garrett, Charlotte Reavey and Sharon Rose also manage to impress. After Nicole returns to the judging panel boy band GMD3 manage to impress the judges. More groups also manage to impress and sail through to boot camp. MK1 are advised to drop one of their members and after a brief chat they decide to take the judges advise and are then put through to boot camp. Lorna Bliss is last up and she ends up giving the judgdes a very up close and personal performance. She fails to make it through to the next round though.

The sixth set of hopefuls audition in front of the judges hoping to gain a place in the next round of the competition. Leona Lewis, Rita Ora, Anastacia and Mel B are tonight's guest judges. Seventy year old Nick Buss isn't happy after he fails to impress the judges. Jade Ellis and Madeleine Wilson manage to impress though. Bianca Gascoigne surprises the judges when she auditions but she fails to make it through to boot camp. Louis and Tulisa clash over whether Lauren Smith should go through but she still ends up gaining a place in boot camp. Tammy Cartwright is supported backstage by her gandmother and manages to impress the judges with her stage presence and voice. Jade Collins impresses the judges with her vocal talents.

The seventh set of hopefuls audition in front of the judges hoping to gain a place in the next round of the competition. Mel B, Geri Halliwell and Rita Ora are the guest judges. Rough Copy, Clapz Shizzayne and Dale Ali manage to impress the judges and make it through to boot camp. They are followed by Adam Burridge, Triple J., George Shelley and Nathan Fagan Gayle who all manage to impress as well. Robbie Hance manages to blow away all of the judges with his performance. Danielle Scott is not happy though after she fails to make it through. Carolynne Poole who made it through to judges houses last year returns and manages to impress the judges once again and sails through to boot camp.

The successful acts that have made it through the auditions travel to Liverpool for the boot camp stage of the competition. Before the hard work begins they enjoy a welcome party thrown by the judges. A third of the acts end up being cut from the competition before they get the chance to try and impress the judges again. Those who make it through have to compete against each other in small groups in a sing off. The competitive streak really comes out in some of the performances and there is also friction on stage. Those who fail to impress are cut from the competition. Those who make it through learn that when they perform tomorrow they will have one last chance to impress.

The boot camp stage of the competition continues in Liverpool. The remaining acts left in the running have one last to try and impress the judges and most of them manage to up their game. The judges then decide which twenty four acts have made it through to the next phase of the competition. The judges learn which section of the competition they will be mentoring from now on when each of them receice a call from Simon Cowell.

The finalists perform live for the first time hoping to impress both the judges and the viewers at home. This week's theme is heroes. Dermot reveals who has topped the vote out of the Wild Cards. Some of the British stars from this year's Olympic Games offer the hopes some words of wisdom. One Direction also offer their advise to the finalists. Most of the acts manage to get good comments from the judges but Louis is critised for the song choice for Union J. Gary also isn't impressed by Rylan. The stand out performance on the night comes from Ella who manages to blow all the judges away with her performance.

Dermot reveals that Ella and James are in the botoom two and will have to perform again in the final showdown. After the judges are split in their decision the result goes to deadlcock. Dermot then reveals that Ella has the fewest amount of public votes and is out of the competition.

Dermot presents the final live from Manchester where Christopher, Jahmene and James perform hoping to impress both the judges and the viewers at home. All of the eliminated acts return to perform live on stage together. Each of the finalists have to perform with their mentors as well as singing an individual song. Kelly Clarkson, Rita Ora and Kylie Minogue also perform live on the show. The phone lines are frozen and Dermot reveals that Jahmene and James have the most amount of votes leaving Christopher in third place and eliminated from the competition. The phone lines are then reopened for the remaining two acts.
