James sits by a signal box in a junction, when to children climb up into his cab and fiddle with the controls. James starts to go without a driver, and cannot stop. Edward sets off on a chase after James with James's fireman, who will climb into James's cab, and stop him. Can Edward catch up and save James from a disastrous fate? (5 mins.)
Trevor is told he is going to help build the harbour, and Thomas is overjoyed as he is to take him there. But Thomas doubts Trevor can do it since he doesn't use rails. (5 mins.)
Percy is being a cheeky engine, and teases James and Gordon. Gordon and James are cross, and they want to get him back. Soon they get it when Percy has a mishap with a signal. (5 mins.)
Percy can't do all his work, so Sir Topham Hatt brings a new engine to help with the work. His name is Duck, and when the big engines here about this, they start to tease him and wheesh steam at him. Duck is fed up, and decides to get back at them... (5 mins.)
One day, Percy passes by a nearby airfield while working at the harbour. He notices the helicopter there, and stops to ask questions. Harold tells Percy railways are slow and out of date. So Percy challenges Harold to race to a prove him wrong. (5 mins.)
Thomas is sick, and he goes to works to be repaired. While Thomas is gone, Duck does Thomas's job and and takes Annie and Clarabel for him. Thomas gets back, but something is wrong. The workmen didn't fix his break properly, and his fireman pull it hard enough, resuting in a runaway with Thomas and his coaches. It is up to Harold and the Inspector to stop the runaway train. Percy sees a sign that says not to pass this board. Percy decides to do the oppsite even after Thomas warns him about what happened when he disobeyed. Even with Thomas's warning, will Percy think again and stop himself from getting wet? (5 mins.)
Duck is Great Westen and won't stop boasting to the others about it. Soon Sir Topham Hatt orders a Diesel to come to the railway to help with the busy work the engines can't all finish. Duck is happy to meet a new engine, and to his delight is given the job to show Diesel around. But Duck's happiness soon leaves as Diesel tells Duck he doesn't need him. That's when Diesel frames Duck for an accident he didn't make. (5 mins.)
Diesel is mad at Duck and tells the trucks a secret plan. The trucks do as Diesel says and laugh at Gordon, James, and Henry. The three engines accuse Duck and Sir Topham Hatt will see to this problem. Can Duck convince Sir Topham Hatt that it was Diesel? (5 mins.)
Duck's punishment is to work with Edward at his station. Once there, Duck tells Edward that Sir Topham Hatt and all the other engines don't like Duck don't wish to see him for a while. Edward disagrees with him and offers Duck to help with the work. While pulling a long and heavy train of freight cars, the freight cars break away taking Duck with them. Unfortunately for Duck, a barber shop is just up ahead... (5 mins.)
Repairs for the viaduct have been ordred and are in progress, but Sir Topham Hatt can't close that part of the line. Now engines have to pass over the bridge much slower than usual, resulting in making Thomas late, and making Bertie wait. Thomas is cross with the change, until Thomas soon realizes that being late isn't always bad. (5 mins.)
Two new Scottish engines have arrived on Sodor. Unfortunately, confusion and delay is spread when only one engine was expected. Even more trouble is brewed when a spiteful break van gets in the engines' way. (5 mins.)
Word is spread about the two new Scottish engines' mishap, and the other engines start to worry Donald and Douglas will be sent back, or one will stay. When Edward suggests that Donald and Douglas hold a deputation, Percy is to the one chosen to tell Sir Topham Hatt! (5 mins.)
Thomas is told by his driver that he knows the branchline so well, he could run it without him! Of course this is a joke but Thomas doesn't know this, so decides to try it for himself. But what happens when Thomas joins the Station Master for breakfast? (5 mins.)
A diesel railcar comes to take Thomas's place temorarlily after his accident causes confusion and delay. This Diesel's name is Daisy, and she is very picky. She won't even pull a milk wagon! Unfortunately for Percy and Toby, Daisy is giving them a hard time as well. Now Toby and Percy can't wait to have Thomas back! (5 mins.)
Percy is tired of taking the milk for Daisy, and he and Toby agrees to switch jobs. But everything gets worse when Percy ends up with runaway trucks... and a brakevan in his way. What will become of Percy now? (5 mins.)
Bill and Ben are two yellow twin tank engines. They work at the China Clay Works. One day they notice their trucks have gone missing, and decide to investigate. Down the line, they find their trucks with a diesel named Boco, and cause him great confusion. That is, until an old friends sorts everything out. (5 mins.)
Now that Boco has arrived, Sir Topham Hatt has allowed Branch Line engines to pull Main Line trains. Gordon isn't too happy about this. Edward decides to run on the Branch Line, and one green hat could cause confusion and delay for both Edward and Gordon. (5 mins.)
Gordon, Henry and James tell Edward about how he is old, and should be preserved. Duck and Boco disagree, and tell them that Edward is much better than that. And when he breaks down on an important trip, Edward gets his chance to show the other engines that he is better, and shouldn't be preserved. (5 mins.)
One night Percy tells Thomas and Toby a story about a ghost train. Percy tries to convince them that it is real, but Thomas and Toby disagree. Although later Percy discovers it isn't true, he gets his chance when he gets covered in lime from smokebox to bunker. Percy gets an idea to scare Thomas and get his revenge, and seeks out to find him. (5 mins.)
In the summer, Percy helps the harvesters deliver their hay to Toby, so Toby can get it to the farms, and the animals can eat. One day, Thomas is late due to Percy, and is very cross. But when a crate of treacle covers Percy, and a gust of hay sticks to him, Thomas enjoys Percy's embarassment. (5 mins.)
Sir Topham Hatt gives Thomas the job of collecting the Christmas Tree for the party that night. On the way back with the tree, Thomas is delayed by getting covered under a big snowdrift. Since Thomas's location is unknown, Donlad and Douglas are sent out with snowplows to find him. But can they find him in time for the party? (5 mins.)
When the engines can't get to sleep, Thomas tells the story of Duke, Stuart and Falcon. Although Stuart and Falcon teased Duke by calling him 'Granpuff', they missed him when their railway closed and he was left in a shed...

When Skarloey and Rheneas get too old for pulling coaches, the manager buys Sir Handel and Peter Sam. But Sir Handel is rude and grumpy; this just leads him into trouble!

Peter Sam's funnel hasn't been the same since that horrendous accident. The others don't believe him about his aforementioned "special funnel", until they see it for themselves...
Sir Handel wants to prove that his "steam roller" wheels make him faster than the others. So Skarloey suggests that he tackle George, the new steam roller. It seems Sir Handel has finally met his match!

When Percy hears Sir Topham Hatt use the words "Percy" and "scrap," he fears the worst and runs away. When Percy is found, he learns that the truth is nothing of the sort and promises never to jump to conclusions again.
Thomas doesn't listen when Emily tells him to get his snowplough fitted. But when he gets snowed in, he learns that he must pay the price for not listening to Emily at the start.

It isn't what she expected as the dreaded route turns out to be very pretty indeed – and the spooky monster shapes turn out to be a family of seals! Emily decides that she does like the Black Loch Run after all.
Thomas and James both want to collect the fireworks for Sir Topham Hatt's exciting display. James is given the job, but when he breaks down, Thomas is sent to help. By working together, they manage to save the display!
Gordon must show Percy how to pull passengers. Gordon enjoys showing off so much that he doesn't notice the icy track until it's too late and disaster strikes! Gordon is embarrassed, while Percy's passengers arrive safe and sound! Later, Gordon resists the temptation to show off – and even compliments Percy!
When Thomas and Percy compete against the bigger engines to be the cleanest engine on the Island of Sodor, their efforts are repeatedly foiled. They refuse to give up, and when the unexpected happens, they learn that one never knows what one is capable of achieving.
Spencer is in town, and Edward is chosen to race him. Unfortunately, Spencer is very powerful and quickly takes the lead. Exhausted, Edward is about to give up when Spencer falls asleep. Edward presses on, wins the race and is hailed as the pride of the Sodor railway!
Gordon develops a strange squeak in his engine, and he does everything he can to stop others from hearing it. When the squeak gets worse, Gordon becomes convinced he's headed for the scrap heap.
Thomas is to collect the circus from the Brendam Docks but is told to share the load if there is too much to move. Thomas keeps the whole circus to himself and is soon having problems moving forward. He discovers that sharing the load makes things much easier and much more fun!
Thomas has to take some eggs across the island. He is frustrated to have to go so slowly and starts to speed up. When the eggs start breaking, Thomas feels badly. All is not lost, and when most of the eggs are delivered safely, Sir Topham Hatt declares him a Really Useful Engine!
Emily must pull Gordon's express. Gordon always crosses the Island of Sodor "twice by tea-time," and Emily is desperate to prove she can to do the same. She is so single-minded that her steam dries up, and her coal runs out. Sir Topham Hatt is cross. To make amends, Emily volunteers to take the slow train.
Thomas has to move lots of trucks of smelly fish. When he takes too many trucks at once, it just makes matters worse. By slowing down, Thomas finds things aren't as bad as they seem.
When Emily is given an urgent job to do, she needs the help of others but isn't as kind to them as she could be. She finds that being rude to others makes them less inclined to cooperate.
It's Halloween, and Thomas and Emily are sent to the spooky smelters yard. `Arry and Bert do their best to give them a fright – and succeed until Thomas realizes that appearances can be deceptive.
Toby is informed by Gordon that he is not a proper engine. When Gordon gets stuck on the hill, Toby is called in to help. Toby doesn't know if he is strong enough until Thomas assures him by saying "You can do it, Toby!"
James is very proud to be given the important job of delivering coal across the island. The other engines ask James for help, but he decides he's too busy. When James breaks down, he realizes that no job is more important than helping another engine.
Thomas volunteers to take three specials. It is tiring work, but he won't accept any help. When Thomas becomes so tired that he gets his jobs all mixed up, Percy offers to help once more. This time, Thomas is happy to accept.
When Thomas misses out on a trip to the seaside to help deliver ingredients to the ice cream factory, he is very disappointed. It's a different story, however, when he arrives at the beach with his load of fresh ice cream!
It's a windy day, and the important carpet that Percy has collected suddenly starts to fly. The other engines think it's the wind making the carpet fly, but Percy isn't so sure.
With the airport, the new Tidmouth Sheds, and the Sodor Suspension Bridge under construction, and with the steam engines and diesel engines being disagreeable, chaos spans the whole island!
When a famous artist comes to the Island to paint a picture called "The Spirit of Sodor," Percy has the job of showing the artist something special enough to paint, but after looking all over Sodor, the Artist still can't find the right place and declares that there is nothing special to paint on the whole island! Can Percy prove that everyplace on Sodor is special and help the artist find what he needs?
After a storm hits Sodor, Thomas is on his way to work when he sees a beautiful and colourful rainbow! Edward tells him that something magical is supposed to be at the end and Thomas can't wait to find out what it is! He begins his search to find the end of the rainbow and leaves all his work behind, but will the rainbow prove to be magic or just get Thomas way off track?
At the Sodor Summer Party, Thomas has two jobs to do: collect milk to make ice cream and to collect butter from the far side of the Island to make cakes. When he doesn't pay attention, Thomas goes too fast and turns the milk halfway to butter. Can he find a way around a dairy disaster and make the summer party a sweet success?
An unusual new engine with two boilers – Mighty and Mac – starts work on Sodor. The Thin Controller gives Mighty and Mac a special job, but they have never had to work together before! Sir Topham Hatt is taking his mother for a special birthday picnic and Thomas thinks he knows just the place: Shen Valley. A new steam engine has come to the island. Thomas is collecting some iron for a broken bridge when he sees Neville, the new engine, being teased by Arry and Bert. It's winter and Sir Topham Hatt announces that a special statue, celebrating the Sodor Railway, is to be delivered. Thomas is excited to be chosen to collect it from the docks, but when he sees the tarpaulin's shape, he thinks the statue is of him! At the grand unveiling of the statue, will Thomas wish he hadn't been so boastful before seeing the station for himself?
Henry must collect a new flagpole from the docks for a banquet at the castle. But when Henry doesn't spot the flagpole, he worries that Sir Topham Hatt will use his favourite tall pine tree as a replacement! Can Henry find a replacement flagpole and save his tree or will he just cause confusion and delay?
Emily is taking passengers to the ruined castle when she decides that she will be queen for a day. The Narrow Gauge engines are carrying coal down from the mountains. Duncan doesn't think that pulling coal trucks is very exciting, so when he sees an old track, he sees the opportunity for an adventure. His journey soon leads him to be stuck in an old mine. Will Duncan make it out of the mine and learn to always think his adventures through clearly in the future?
When Thomas is given a special job along the cliffs to the seaside, Diesel warns him about the "curse of the cliffs." Thomas is terrified. But is there really a curse? Has Diesel been telling the truth? To find out, he must explore the cliffs, and learn to always believe in himself!
When Rheneas teases Skarloey; he decides to prove that he is the bravest engine in the world! To impress the other engines, Skarloey tries all sorts of things and finally attaches himself to the winch, which lifts the trucks of coal up and down the incline. But things don't go to plan and the winch breaks! Can Skarloey fix the problem and get the coal to the village?
When Edward starts wheezing and leaking steam, he is afraid that Sir Topham Hatt will find out and scrap him. Worried Edward is given an important job, and when he confides in Thomas, Thomas offers to do his job for him. Thomas works hard, but soon starts running late. Will the plan save Edward or put both engines out of work?
When a golden eagle has been spotted on Sodor, Thomas and Percy both want to see it. Percy and Thomas strike a deal to help each other out so they have time to see the eagle. But will splitting the work cause neither of the jobs to get done or will the engines' efforts bring a bigger reward than they'd imagined?

James and Edward are both eager to finish first but in all the hurry, Sir Topham Hatt becomes cross and declares that James has caused confusion and delay – Edward will now take the presents. It's Halloween and Thomas must work with Devious Diesel to get the Island's flour ready for the morning. On the way to the flour mill, Diesel points out the scary things along the way. But Thomas has a few tricks up his tank! Will Diesel and Thomas solve the ghost engine mystery and get the flour ready in time?
Thomas is shunting trucks while James is collecting flour to make cakes for a children's party. Thomas isn't happy and bumps James's flour truck causing the door to open. Thomas tries to hide James's truck causing flour to pour from the open door. Soon the truck is empty and Thomas is horrified at what he has done. Thomas puffs to the mill to get a new flour truck, by the mill is closed. The only truck of flour is behind a big line of empty trucks – it'll take forever to move them all without help. So Thomas asks James to help and together they get the flour in time for the children's party. Thomas is pleased to have worked together with his friend.
Sir Handle is known to be one of the smoothest engines on the narrow gauge railway. Mr. Percival gives him a special job, to take a load off apples. But he must be gentle so they don't bruise. But Sir Handle has a problem. When he goes up hills he starts to rattle and rock. He asks Peter Sam to help him take the apples. Mr. Percival is impressed, but Sir Handle doesn't admit the truth. Mr. Percival gives Sir Handle another delicate job, but again he asks a friend to help. This time, Mr. Percival gives him an extra special job, taking him and his wife for a picnic. This time, he can't hide the truth – he shudders and shakes. Sir Handle explains his problem to Mr. Percival who sends him for repairs straightaway – he should have explained his problem before!
Thomas is sent to collect some children from the airport for the Sodor Summer Picnic. At the airport, Thomas meets Jeremy, a jet plane. Jeremy tells Thomas how wonderful it is to fly. Thomas thinks Jeremy is being boastful and decides not to talk to him again. Thomas, however, can't shake the feeling that it's better to be a jet plane than a steam engine. When Jeremy spots a storm on the way, he returns to the airport and alerts Thomas. The picnic will be ruined! Jeremy can't land near the picnic, Thomas will have to tell Sir Topham Hatt. Thomas races off. Thomas has an idea and relocates the picnic to Jeremy's hanger. Thomas is very proud to be a steam engine after all!
A carnival comes to the island. All the engines get to pull a part of it, except for Percy who's given the job of pulling coal. Disappointed not to be given an important job, Percy leaves his coal and tries to help the others with the carnival. None of Percy's friends need help, but Percy spends so much time asking that none of his coal gets delivered. Soon all the engines are grinding to a halt! Percy is horrified and gets to work delivering coal to all the other engines. The carnival is a big success and Percy is delighted to have done such an important job, delivering coal!
Sir Topham Hatt has lost his voice so Lady Hatt gives Percy the job of handing out his instructions for the day. Percy has lots of things to remember. Thomas offers to help, but Percy is determined to do it on his own. Percy goes to see James, Gordon and Toby but gets things muddled up, giving his friends some very silly jobs! Disaster strikes when James, Gordon and Toby crash into each other – all thanks to Percy. Percy is very sorry and asks Thomas if he'll help after all. Thomas is only too pleased to help his friend and together they retrace Percy's tracks. Percy finally remembers the jobs that Lady Hatt has told him and Percy puts everything right. Sir Topham Hatt is very please with Percy. He has been really useful!
It's the country fair in the hills and Duncan is to take the bell from the clock tower to be specially polished. Duncan enjoys the sound the bell makes going over the bumpy tracks. He enjoys it so much that he doesn't listen to the foreman's instructions to go slowly. He doesn't listen to anyone telling him to slow down, until disaster strikes and Duncan hits a dip in the track – the bell bounces off his flatbed and down the hill. Duncan is horrified. In the quiet, he hears the bell chiming – it's stuck in a tree. Duncan races to it, just in time for it to fall back on his flatbed. Slowly and carefully Duncan takes the bell to the polishers. At the fair, the shiny bell rings and Duncan thinks it's the best sound in the whole world!
Thomas is sent to the Wharf to collect a Christmas tree from Sir Handle. Thomas tells Duncan and Peter Sam what he's looking for and they tease Thomas for not knowing what a Christmas tree looks like. This makes Thomas cross. Determined to prove himself, Thomas refuses any help from any other engines, even Sir Handle! Thomas sees something long and pointy under a tarpaulin on a flat-bed and he decides it must be the Christmas tree. Thomas races off with the load, but Thomas has to break hard sending his load into the canal – it's not a tree, it’s some telegraph poles. Thomas realizes that he does need help after all and heads off to find Sir Handle. He apologizes for being silly, and together they find the tree for Thomas to take to Sir Topham Hatt.
Toby loves to go to the farm to see the animals and he plans to spend his afternoon off doing just that. When Sir Topham Hatt gives Toby three unexpected specials, he worries that he won't have time to visit the farm after all. He asks his friends to help him, but each of them seems too busy to help. This makes Toby sad, he thought friends were supposed to help each other. When one of his special deliveries is delayed until morning due to rough seas, Toby is delighted; he'll be able to get to the farm after all. On his way, he sees Henry who has broken down. Henry explains that all the other engines were helping him. They had been helping a friend after all. Toby offers to help Henry too. And even though it means missing the farm, he doesn't mind!
Gordon needs to pull the express one more time to set a record. He is determined not to let anything stand in his way. So when he's accidentally given Henry's special coal, he doesn't stop. He hopes it'll make him go faster. Henry bravely puffs on with his ordinary coal. While Henry struggles with a clogged firebox, Gordon puffs across the island. Eventually Gordon's conscience gets the better of him and, just as he's about to finish his journey, he stops and puffs back to Henry. Gordon and Henry swap coal tenders. Gordon is very sorry to have taken Henry's coal, while Henry is sorry that Gordon couldn't set his record.
Thomas is taking some holidaymakers on a sightseeing trip around the Island of Sodor. Gordon sniffs that he would be much faster, so Thomas sets out to prove that he's wrong. He races from location to location so fast that he leaves holidaymakers behind at each place! Bertie the bus sees what is happening and chases after Thomas, collecting the stranded passengers as he goes. When Thomas realizes what he's done he takes the holidaymakers to the seaside and stays there – it's much better to see one place properly, than to see lots in a hurry!
Fearless Freddie is an old engine who has returned to the narrow gauge railway after many years. He brags about being the fastest engine in the hills. He challenges Rheneas and Skarloey to a race, but it's a lot harder than he realized. Determined not to lose, Freddie remembers a forgotten old short cut to the bottom of the mountain and claims the victory! Rheneas and Skarloey challenge Freddie to another race and again Freddie puffs down a hidden short cut. Rheneas is so desperate to beat Freddie that he steams right off the track! Freddie is sorry for encouraging the younger engines to go too fast. He uses his knowledge of the hidden tracks to help rescue Rheneas.
When Thomas sees that Toby's shed at Arlesden End has a leaky roof, he volunteers to organize getting it fixed for his friend. Thomas tells Toby all about his plan but Toby still seems very sad. With the new roof complete, Thomas asks Toby why he still seems so sad. Toby explains that he liked the holey old roof – the birds would fly in through the holes and make their nests, Toby's home was their home too! Thomas has an idea. He arranges for the wood from Toby's old roof to be made into a birdhouse. Now there are more birds at Arlesden End than ever before. Toby is delighted!
It is winter on the Island of Sodor and Henry is disappointed not to be chosen to pull some heavy loads for Farmer McColl. Gordon gets the job and boasts that he is the strongest engine. The other engines tell Gordon that he'll soon see just how strong Big Strong Henry is, a promise that has Henry worried. Henry's friends soon find a way for Henry to prove his strength to Gordon – by pulling Farmer McColl's loads so Gordon can see. This makes Gordon cross and Henry decides he quite likes being Big Strong Henry. Henry takes his heaviest load yet, twenty trucks of hay bales, up a hill – but they're too heavy! The trucks derail at the bottom of the hill, while Gordon takes his last heavy load, some cows. Henry is very sorry for causing trouble, but spots that Gordon has puffed away leaving one of his trucks is open – letting all the cows escape! Clever Henry uses his hay to lead the cows all the way to Farmer McColl's proving that you don't need to be strong to be useful!
Thomas is to give train rides at a children's fancy dress party. He daydreams about what costume to wear. A trip to the wash down gives him the idea to go as a big bubble bath, but the bubbles get into his eyes and he crashes into Toby, who is carrying taffy for the taffy apples. Toby is damaged so Thomas offers to take the taffy for Toby. On his way to the party Thomas again daydreams about what costume to wear. He doesn't see some points have changed and races into a siding. He hits the buffers and taffy goes all over him. Thomas is running late so takes a shortcut down an old overgrown line. Branches and leaves stick to him. Thomas arrives at the party with the taffy just in time. He's sorry to be in such a mess. But the children say that he looks like a big leafy bush – he has come in fancy dress after all. Peep peep!
Rusty has two jobs. One is to take some workers to put up direction signs along the mountain trails and the other is to take Sir Topham Hatt and his family to the mountains for a walk. Rusty is so keen to be on time for Sir Topham Hatt that he rushes the workers. He makes them finish without checking their work. Rusty takes the Hatt family to the start of their walk and arranges to meet them at the tearooms later. When the Hatt Family don't turn up at the end of their walk, Rusty is worried. He searches the mountains and when he finds campers at the quarry, fishermen at the coalmine and skiers at the castle, he realizes that the signposts must be wrong! Rusty quickly deduces where the Hatts must be and races off to find them at Hill Farm! They've had a wonderful day, but Rusty has one more job to do. He fetches the workmen to fix the signs. And this time, he doesn't rush them!
A shooting star is due to light up the night sky on the Island of Sodor. All the engines are making wishes. When the power on the island fails, Thomas is sent to the power station with some engineers. Thomas puffs across the island but, desperate to see the shooting star, avoids taking any route that will obstruct his view of the night sky. This made his trip longer and longer. Percy gets worried for Thomas and wishes that Thomas returns safely. Thomas, however, has taken such a long route that he's lost! He wishes he could see so he could take the fastest route. Suddenly the shooting star appears and lights up the sky! The light shows Thomas the way and soon the power is fixed! Thomas returns home and he and Percy are delighted that their wishes came true.
A new crane arrives on the island, Rocky. Rocky has no engine and is unable to move on his own. Edward dismisses Rocky as new fangled nonsense. When Edward causes a spillage of telegraph poles on the tracks, he calls for Harvey - the smaller crane. But Harvey isn't fast enough and Gordon steams into the poles and crashes. Harvey can't lift Gordon and Edward realizes that only Rocky is big enough to help. Edward realizes that Rocky is useful after all and is proud to be his friend.
Thomas challenges Spencer to a race. He races right through Kellsthorpe station with a gust of wind so strong that it blows Sir Topham Hatt's top hat right off. Sir Topham Hatt is going for tea at the Scottish Castle so he needs his hat! Thomas promises to retrieve the hat and sets off to find it. Thomas chases the hat all over the island, but every time he nearly gets to it, the hat blows away. Eventually Thomas stops. All of a sudden, the hat floats gently onto Thomas' funnel. Slowly Thomas puffs back to Kellsthorpe. Sir Topham Hatt is delighted to have his hat back. Some times going slow is just as useful as going fast!
Skarloey doesn't like the Wharf. It's a big noisy place and he doesn't know anybody's name. The troublesome trucks make Skarloey jump and James teases him for being a 'scaredy engine'. Skarloey leaves and worries that he is a scaredy engine. On his way to collect a prize pig, he helps Rusty cross a rickety old bridge. Then he helps Duncan cross some flooded tracks. And finally saves Rheneas from being hit by a falling log. Rheneas is surprised that Skarloey still feels scaredy and points out all the brave things that he has just done. Skarloey realizes that Rheneas is right. He returns to the Wharf, and this time he's not scaredy at all! Even James is impressed!
It is winter and Thomas is collecting timber for Farmer McColl's roof. At the docks Thomas and Percy see a group of children playing with a large snowman balloon. A gust of wind attaches the balloon to Thomas's buffers. The balloon follows Thomas all over the Island of Sodor, but Thomas doesn't know why. Everywhere he goes, people try to tell Thomas about the balloon, but he's too worried to listen. He's also too worried to do his work properly and only collects one load of timber for Farmer McColl. When Thomas realizes that the balloon was attached to his buffers he feels very silly, but relieved to have got to the bottom of the balloon mystery!
Gordon has set a record for pulling the express and he is to receive a set of special cars. It is Emily's job to collect the cars and deliver them to the ceremony. On the way, she is rude to Diesel who is not impressed to hear about Gordon's award. Diesel tries to tell her something but Emily steams away. Crossly, Diesel takes the cars and hides them in a siding. When Sir Topham Hatt catches up with Diesel, he orders him to show Emily where the cars are. On the way, Diesel's engine starts to splutter. Diesel explains that he also has broken a record, for shunting trucks. And he was cross that Emily didn't listen. Emily is sorry and later at Gordon's ceremony; she arranges a special surprise for Diesel too.
It is the day of the Sodor School football match. James finishes his jobs first and gets to pull the team carriages. James gets decorated in the team colours. Thomas is very jealous and thinks this isn't fair. He tries to persuade James to let him pull the coaches but James won't listen. Thomas resorts to desperate measures and arranges for James to puff into a siding. This destroys James' decorations! Thomas is horrified at what he has done. Thomas sees Bertie who has broken down on his way to the match with lots of children. Thomas offers to take the children and borrows the children's flags and scarves to decorate James with. James looks wonderful and everyone is delighted.
It is stormy season on the Island of Sodor and Thomas is to deliver some birthday mail to Alice at High Farm. On the way he meets Rosie a young tank engine. Rosie wants to be just like Thomas and tries to follow him to High Farm. This makes Thomas cross and he puffs away. When a storm appears Thomas puffs on, trying to get away from Rosie. Thomas takes a shorter but harder route to Hill Farm, but is soon stuck in a landslide. Rosie catches up with Thomas. Thomas is glad to see her and asks Rosie to deliver the special birthday mail to Alice. Rosie is happy to help and when she returns, Thomas is delighted to see Alice on board Rosie, who has come to say thank you.
It's winter and James is bringing coal to the wharf so that Duncan can take it up to the villages in the hills. Duncan challenges James to a race -he'll deliver the coal faster than James can bring it to the wharf. James is too fast for little Duncan, so Duncan decides to hide his coal while James isn't looking. James works extra hard to keep up with Duncan, but eventually runs out of his own coal. Duncan feels terrible and admits what he has done. He goes to find James to load him up with coal again. James and Duncan are happy to be Really Useful once again.
Skarloey has lots of jobs and is very, very busy. Rheneas decides to help his friend and take Skarloey's coal cars for him as a surprise. He won't tell anyone what he's up to. But when Rheneas tries to puff up a steep hill with his and Skarloey's cars, they prove much too heavy. He leaves Skarloey's trucks in a siding while he delivers his first. When Rheneas returns, Skarloey's cars have vanished - Rheneas can't find them anywhere. He asks some other engines for help, but before they can start looking, Peter Sam appears, pulling the missing cars! He found them in the siding. Everyone is relieved that the cars have been found. Especially Rheneas who gets to deliver Skarloey's cars after all.
Thomas is to take an important Admiral to open a new maritime museum. At the docks, Salty tells Thomas about the lost pirate treasure of Sodor, giving him the old clues to its whereabouts. With the Admiral on board, Thomas sets about trying to follow the clues. He becomes so distracted by his quest that he makes the Admiral very late. Sir Topham Hatt is cross and sends for Harold to take the Admiral the rest of the way. Thomas continues on his quest and finds the final clue, an old line. At the end of the line is the maritime museum, and the Admiral was about to open it. Thomas reveals the location of the lost treasure. The Admiral and Sir Topham Hatt are delighted. Thomas is pleased that he stuck to his quest!
Sir Topham Hatt needs an engine for a railway poster. Edward is to be the poster engine, but James is sure that it should be him! When James hears that Edward was chosen for being on time, gentle with his trucks and always ready to do dirty jobs, James decides to prove that he can do all those things. James' plan doesn't quite work - he gets so dirty that its takes too long to get clean and James is soon running late for his passengers. He tries to beat Edward to the passengers, but doesn't see the signal. Edward crashes into the back of James and sends him hurtling through the railway poster - right where Edward's face should be. Edward is damaged and can't take passengers but the children still want to ride on the poster engine. James is sorry and offers to help Edward carry the children - and together they prove to be really useful.
Thomas has a delivery to make at the Wharf. On the way he marvels at how beautiful the Island of Sodor is. At the Wharf he hears that Skarloey needs to be taken to the menders on the other side of the island. Thomas offers to take him. Skarloey is lowered on to a flat bed and coupled to Thomas. Sir Topham Hatt tells Thomas to head straight for the menders and to be careful of the coupling. Thomas decides to cheer up sad Skarloey by showing him the sights of Sodor. But none of the sights impress the little engine. Thomas decides to chuff to the top of Gordon's Hill, but the coupling snaps and Skarloey hurtles to the bottom and right off the track! Thomas is very sorry. With Skarloey back on the track they set straight off for the menders. This time they go past the seaside - a sight that Skarloey has never seen before! Skarloey is very impressed. This is the best day out ever.
A famous storyteller comes to the island to open a new library. It's Thomas' job to show the storyteller the sights of Sodor so she can write a special story for the children. Thomas tries to take the Storyteller to the docks but he finds James in trouble and has to help his friend. Then he takes the storyteller to pirates cove but Emily needs his help taking flour to the bakery. Finally he tries to take the storyteller to Misty Valley but on the way he finds Percy in trouble. By the time of the library opening, Thomas hasn't managed to take the storyteller to see any sights for her story. But the storyteller has a better idea. She decides to write a story all about the day that Thomas helped his friends. Thomas is delighted!
When Emily is given the job of working with Whiff, a friendly garbage collection engine, the other engines tease her about her smelly new friend. Emily is embarrassed and tries to keep her distance from Whiff. But every time she gets away, Whiff catches up with her. Emily meets Spencer who's way is blocked by lots of garbage trucks - the ones that Emily was supposed to move with Whiff. Emily feels bad. She tries to move the trucks but finds they are too heavy. She asks Gordon and Spencer to help, but both refuse to move the smelly trucks. Only Whiff is willing to help move the trucks. Emily is please to call Whiff her friend.
The Duke and Duchess of Boxford are visiting the island with Spencer. When Spencer boasts about being faster, shiner and stronger than Thomas, Thomas vows to prove him wrong. Thomas tries to go faster than Spencer, but takes a bend too fast and has to break hard. He tries to be shinier than Spencer, but his work soon makes him dustier than ever. Finally he tries to be stronger and pulls too many tucks up Gordon's Hill. He slides all the way to the bottom and feels very silly. The next day, an emergency calls the Duke back to the mainland. Spencer's boiler is cold, but Thomas is raring to take the Duke. This time its Spencer's turn to feel silly!
James is delighted to be taking the Mayor of Sodor to the Festival of Lights at the Scottish Castle. Thomas, Emily and Percy are allowed to go to the Festival too, but have lots of jobs to do first. They ask James to help them, but he refuses, heading off to get clean at the wash-down. Thomas, Emily and Percy each puff past in turn. Unless James helps them with their jobs, they may miss the Festival. But James is determined to stay clean for his grand entrance. But on his way to collect the Mayor, Sir Topham Hatt tells James that Thomas, Emily and Percy will miss the opening of the Festival, including his grand entrance. James' entrance won't be grand, with none of his friends there to see it. So James helps his friends with each of their jobs, even though he gets covered with coal dust, sand and smelly fish. And he has no time to wash before collecting the Mayor. But Sir Topham Hatt is delighted with James, all that mess and grime proves what a thoughtful and hard-working engine he is.
Thomas must fill coal trucks in time for James and Edward to collect them. At the coaling plant, he encounters a big grumpy truck called 'Hector the Horrid'. Thomas tries to approach Hector but Hector roars at him to leave him alone. Thomas puffs quickly away. There's a lot to do and Rosie arrives to help. Rose tries to approach Hector the Horrid but again Hector roars and scares Rosie away. Thomas decides that he's had enough. He biffs Hector hard and sends him flying off the track. Hector reveals that he only roars because he's scared. He's never been filled with coal before. Thomas helps Hector and shows him that being filled with coal can be fun! Thomas and Hector (the not-so-Horrid) shunt the coal trucks in time for James and Edward to collect them.
Gordon must take an important engineer to repair some points. He picks up the wrong person at the station and steams off to the points refusing to stop for any other engines. When Gordon realizes his mistake he feels very silly, but he can't head back to collect the engineer as the lines are blocked. Gordon has an idea. He asks all the engines to ferry the engineer up the line, engine-by-engine. Soon the points are repaired and the engines are on their way. Gordon admits that even he needs help sometimes!
Percy breaks down when delivering the mail at night. While Thomas is pushing him back to the sheds, Percy sees some flashing lights in the sky and is convinced they are a spaceship. Gordon teases Percy, so when Thomas is sent to deliver the mail for Percy he becomes determined to prove his friend was right. Thomas spots some lights in the distance but they turn out to be workmen repairing the track. He spots some more lights, but they turn out to be the lighthouse. A third set of lights turns out to be Jeremy! Thomas realizes that Percy must have seen Jeremy landing at the airport! Searching for the spaceship makes Thomas late. Back at the sheds, he explains the truth about the lights to Gordon. And even though Thomas felt silly, he asks Gordon to help deliver the mail on time. Gordon is pleased to help and Percy decides that Jeremy is better than any spaceship!
A successful day of deliveries in the snow convinces Henry that he has lucky trucks. The next day, without realizing, Edward uses Henry's trucks to take coal to the villages. Henry is given an important special - to collect presents for the children. Henry tries but finds his job difficult without his lucky trucks. Henry searches for Edward and the lucky trucks - but when he finds him Henry accidentally smashes the lucky trucks! Henry remembers the presents for the children he stops thinking about the trucks and puffs on without them. Soon Henry delivers all the presents. The children are delighted and Henry feels like the luckiest engine of all!
Thomas is looking forward to a big fireworks display that night. But first he is given an important special - to take a new light bulb to the Sodor lighthouse. Thomas is warned that the bulb will easily break and it must be delivered safely before dark so the ships can find their way. Thomas is so determined to finish his special that he can't resist speeding up. Thomas goes so fast that, when he comes to a section of track being replaced, he can't stop in time. He crashes through a barrier breaking the bulb! Thomas puffs off to collect a new bulb knowing that he will now be too late for the display. But when he sees the lighthouse beaming, Thomas thinks it looks as wonderful as any fireworks!
While at the Wharf, Thomas uses his new whistle to make the narrow gauge engines jump. This makes the other engines laugh and soon they are all joining in the fun, making each other jump causing chaos across the Wharf! They have a wonderful time until an extra big noise derails Sir Handle. Mr. Percival arrives and puts the engines in their place. The engines all help clear up the wharf, before playing one last trick on Mr. Percival. There's a time and a place for having fun!
Thomas is to pick up some important items for the finale of a magician's magic show. His reward for a job well done will be a role in the show! Thomas can't stop thinking about being in the magic show and collects all the wrong items. When he returns and realizes what he has done he feels very silly. Thomas puffs off to collect the correct items even though he'll miss the show. He arrives back with the correct items just in time for the grand finale. Thomas is delighted when the magician performs some amazing tricks with him!
It's a windy day on Sodor. Thomas is given the job of taking the mayor's new sailing boat to the docks for a special launch ceremony. Thomas is told to wait for an engineer to lower the mast but Thomas is so proud to be taking the beautiful boat that he doesn't wait. When the mast gets caught in some trees, the sails unfurl themselves and open in the wind. The wind in the sails pushes Thomas along. Thomas can't slow down! He races past the harbour unable to stop. When the wind drops, Thomas realizes that he has been very silly. He waits patiently for the engineer to lower the sails and safely puffs the boat to the harbour. The Mayor and Sir Topham Hatt are very pleased.
When Billy, a new engine, comes to the island, Thomas is given the job of showing Billy how to do his jobs. Billy doesn't want to listen to Thomas' instructions. He calls Thomas a bossy engine and races away. Thomas follows him across the island trying to tell Billy what to do, but still Billy won't listen. Eventually Thomas gives up. Soon Billy runs out of coal and water, just as Thomas had warned him. Thomas shunts Billy to the water tower and fills him with coal again. Billy is very sorry for not having listened - he realizes that Thomas was only trying to help. Together, they finish the jobs and Billy admits that he did like working with Thomas after all.
All the engines think Edward knows everything. When he's given the job of taking the mail, Edward wants to ask for help, but worries that he'll look silly. He doesn't realize that the trucks are in a specific order and delivers the mail to the wrong places. When he realizes his mistake, he is very upset and knows he'll have to deliver them all over again. Edwards collects the mail and tries to deliver them but is in such a rush that he makes a mistake and the parcels go everywhere. Finally he decides that he must ask for help. He goes to Percy who is happy to help! Edward doesn't feel silly.
While Thomas and Percy wait for an important cargo ship at the docks Thomas suggests a game of Hide and Peep. Cranky wants to play but Thomas tells him that he'd be no good at hiding. Percy hides and Thomas looks for him everywhere. When he can't find Percy, Thomas announces loudly that Sir Topham Hatt has arrived. Percy comes out from his hiding place but is cross when he realizes that Sir Topham Hatt hasn't arrived - Thomas has cheated. Percy hides again and Thomas searches for him. The Dock Manager says that the cargo ship has arrived. Thomas calls for Percy to tell him the news but Percy doesn't believe him and stays hidden. Thomas asks Cranky to help him find Percy. Cranky quickly spots Percy. Thomas puffs over to him and tells him all about the cargo ship. Thomas tells Percy that he is the best hider and that Cranky is the best finder!
Toby is given a special job - to take Alicia Botti the opera singer to a special concert. Toby worries about making a mistake. Toby worries so much that he does just that - he forgets to slow at a corner, spilling Alicia's special tea in Henrietta. Then he worries so much that he takes the wrong track. Finally he worries so much that he speeds through a big puddle covering Henrietta in mud. When Alicia Botti sees Henrietta she insists that Toby gets washed. At the wash down, Toby notices the workmen are cheerful and how nobody else is worrying. Later, Toby doesn't worry anymore. And he does his job perfectly!
Thomas is chosen to deliver Sir Topham Hatt's brand new car to the Sodor Show. When Gordon challenges him to a race, Thomas is so determined to win that he doesn't wait for the workmen to couple up the car's flatbed properly. He pushes the car as fast as he can. He races to the top of Gordon's Hill only for the car to race down the other side without Thomas. Thomas chases as the runaway car hurtles along the track. Other engines have to avoid the speeding car causing chaos! The flatbed hits a bump in the track and the car lands in a big haystack. Thomas feels silly and, even though he loses the race, asks victorious Gordon to help him fetch Rocky to lift the car from the haystack. The two friends make sure Sir Topham Hatt's car makes it to the show on time!
Thomas is at the fitters' yard before a special job taking the school choir to a concert. When James teases him, Thomas becomes determined to prove that he hasn't broken down and puffs away to collect the choir before his final inspection. Soon, however, nasty noises start coming from Thomas' engine. Thomas denies that there is anything wrong and puffs on. Eventually he breaks down. Thomas feels very silly. He asks James to help take the choir to the concert on time. Henry shunts Thomas to the fitters' yard to be repaired. And this time he waits patiently for his final inspection.
When Diesel teases Thomas for being stinky Thomas is determined to prove otherwise. When Thomas is given a special to deliver some stinky cheese to the docks, he goes out of his way to avoid any diesel engines on the way. When Thomas sees 'Arry, he tries to back away, but he crashes into Bert. His cheese delivery flies high into the air and splatters all over them. Thomas feels very silly. He's given some new cheese and puffs quickly to the docks - this time he doesn't mind being stinky. At the docks, Sir Topham Hatt declares Thomas to be really useful and gives Diesel, Arry and Bert the stinky job of shunting the cheese at the docks.
Mr. Percival asks Sir Handel to ensure that a train full of logs is ready for Thomas to collect by getting the very first engines he sees to help him but will Sir Handel listen?
