Torchwood is a spin off from the popular BBC Doctor Who television series. The shows central character is Captain Jack Harkness a friend of the Doctors. Jack is head of the Torch wood team protecting the country from aliens.

Gwen Cooper joins the Torchwood team at the beginning of the series after accidentally stumbling across the organization whilst carrying out her police duties. Gwen soon finds herself drawn into a world of aliens and mysteries. Throughout the series the team are able to save the day by pulling together in their hour of need.

The series was shown on Sunday evenings on BBC THREE before being repeated on BBC TWO the following Wednesday.
