I REALLY wanted to like this show. I'm all for wonder and beauty and sweet and stuff that gets me all misty, but this show just takes WAY too long to get to the point of it. I watched 8 1/2 episode and halfway through the 9th episode I just said, "UGH! That's IT! I can't do it anymore." I think 8 1/2 episodes is extremely patient. I kept feeling there is a main point or story arc it was getting to but it's stretching that out WAY too long. Not enough interesting things happen in each episode to make me want to continue to try to get to the main point. Numbers are not that interesting a subject to most people, in and of themselves. The idea of interconnectedness is cool, but so far since it's been different people in almost every episode, it doesn't show enough of these people for long enough for you to build a relationship with them to care. I have to be able to empathize with someone and I think Kiefer Sutherland's character is supposed to be that person, but the frustration he has to deal with on a daily basis would drive me insane and at the end of the day, he doesn't really get any answers. His son seems intelligent but is either unwilling or unable to alieve his frustration and just adds to it more and more. I feel he's just stumbling through the dark every moment of his life. In the midst of crime, legal and reality tv this show is a nice big dose of wonder and beauty and really does "touch" your heart. It's sweet, tender and dramatic all at the same time and reminds us that we really are all connected on this planet. Read more Review posted on Monday, April 16th 2012 at 10:32 pm |
